Very nice location, this Panera has a lot more seating available than most paneras I have visited recently. Every time I visit the place is pretty clean and food is being made nice and ready. They have good variety of food options. My favorite is the kitchen sink cookie. Despite that the food can be kind of average but I really which the drinks were better as they are often too sweet! Overall I would recommend it if you like the Panera and you're used to the food. read more

The place is nice. However if you work in the food industry that has any item hot. It needs to be hot. The soup is always lukewarm. If you run out of coffee there should be a backup replacement. If you sell salad make sure the fruit and vegetables are ripe. When you ask to make the soup hotter they look at you if it's your fault. No the restaurant needs to have proper heating on their hot food items. Not a complaint but a safety concern for all of us eating to not get sick from improper heating procedures. read more

I wanted to try some Panera Bread in San Antonio during my stay there. The closest location to my hotel was at Lincoln Heights on the northwest corner of Basse and Broadway. It's in the same plaza as H-E-B, which is actually where I was at when I placed my order on the app. It was Sunday evening, and I didn't realize that this Panera Bread closes at 8 PM on Sundays until it was *almost* too late. I wanted to get a You Pick Two, where you can get two menu items, each at a discounted price. I was hoping to get the bowls, but unfortunately, they had sold out of all bowls that day! Understandable, since it was pretty late in the day. However, they still had enough ingredients to make two chicken sandwiches! Sometime last year, Panera Bread rolled out their Signature and Spicy Take sandwiches, which is supposed to be their entry into the Nashville Hot Chicken craze that has been sweeping the nation like crazy. Don't believe me? Just ask Dave :) Anyways, I made my order in the app for a Signature Take Chicken Sandwich as well as a Spicy Take Chicken Sandwich. If I had time, I would have ordered in person for a change, but since I was running out of it, I chose to order online in the event that I'd get turned away. When you order through the app, you get to choose up to five additional customizations, and I usually go for additional veggies whenever I get the chance. After placing my order, I scheduled the last possible pickup time on Sunday, 7:55 PM. I was able to get my shopping done at H-E-B just in time for pickup. Actually, I had an additional two minutes to spare because my order wasn't ready for pickup until 7:57 PM. Not a big deal, but I wouldn't want to be the one to make all the employees stay late, though I later learned from an employee, Steven, that they wouldn't kick you out if you were still inside at closing time. Since I had just purchased perishable food from the most common grocery store in the Lone Star State, I had to take my takeout bag back to my hotel to eat. With a You Pick Two, you get a choice of a baguette, apple, or chips as your side. Since I didn't think I was eating healthy during my trip, I went with the apple, which I saved for the next day. The chicken sandwiches from Panera Bread come in portable boxes that don't open up like a Big Mac box from McDonalds. Rather, there's a seam in the middle of the box that you pull the tab off of, and the box splits open in half to reveal a chicken sandwich. Convenient for eating on the go or even in the car! When I took both boxes out of my takeout bag, there was no way for me to tell which was the Signature Take and which was the Spicy Take. I wish they had indicated this. One of the sandwiches was unfortunately too dry for me. The other sandwich was loads better with significantly more flavor, but it definitely wasn't as good as a traditional Nashville Hot Chicken sando! I do appreciate how the kitchen crew paid close attention to my customization instructions, however, so kudos to them for that. Even the Panera Bread back home struggles to keep up with me lol. While I didn't hate this Panera Bread's chicken sandos, I also didn't love them either. If I lived close by, I would certainly make this my go to Panera Bread, especially since I could go there after shopping at H-E-B. However, I would be more conscientious of the time I go because of how many menu items they were sold out of at the time of my visit. read more

I've always loved Panera since discovering it when I lived in Cincinnati. From middle school to high school, it was my kids' favorite dinner place. My kids are now adults but I visited Panera last week for a quick bite. Their pick two meals are like 2 for 1 deals that are so yummy and satisfying. I had chicken salad sandwich and the apple salad with the passion fruit green tea. I was so happy they had a drive through because I was short on time. Panera is as 'fast food' as I choose to go. My neighborhood location is at Lincoln Heights. It's comfortable and welcoming for a solo customer such as myself. My usual preference for restaurants is to have Table-service but for Panera I am willing to make an exception. The food is consistent and there's always available seating when I go. The only downside is the lack of desserts. They have free wifi which is great because I don't have cable or a landline at home so wifi can be a challenge. This Panera Bread location is located at The Shops in Lincoln Heights. I've been coming to this location for close to 7 years. It is a great place to study and eat. The staff has always been friendly and I always enjoy the food. At times, the food seems overpriced, but I make up for that by using their dining room as a study spot. Recently, I ordered online for pickup. As soon as I arrived, my bag was already waiting for me with a sealed sticker with my name. I didn't check the bag, since it was sealed, and drove home. Once I got home, I opened it and noticed it was missing an item. I didn't feel like driving back in the cold with icy roads, but the person I spoke to on the phone made note of the incident and wrote my name down. I was told that once I'm ready to go back again, just let them know about the incident so they can look it up in their logbook. The half sandwich sizes were over $10 so I assumed they were huge they were not. Free is me! Now the choice I made for my food was a Mac and cheese with a tuna half sandwish. Fairly reliable Panera with the now standard electronic ordering system. We have also ordered to-go for about fourteen people here with no problems in a fairly efficient manner. I've never had an issue with the timeliness at this Panera. When dining in, everything arrives at my table within 5-10 minutes at most. The service workers always go above and beyond to be polite. They typically make sure to bring my food directly to my table, and I never have to bring my pager to the counter for anything. The food, however, is pretty standard Panera fare. Heavy on the carbs and fat, with fairly limited choice in veggies. Don't get me wrong, there are several salads to choose from but they all rely on the same base: spring greens or romaine with a scant choice of toppings on top (typically peppers, tomatoes or red onions). The "new" choices never veer too far from the original standards; perhaps they might switch up a type of bread here and there. No complaints but definitely not the most innovative establishment.
