This location has gotten better of the years especially with the kiosk ordering and online ordering for pick up. It can get pretty busy around lunch time so the convenience or ordering ahead saves a lot of time. Be prepared if you're planning to come on your lunch break. I do like that even when you order from the kiosk, you can order to dine in and they'll bring it to your table. My orders have always been prepared fairly quickly even during a heavy lunch hour. My boss picks up bagels for the office a lot from here. I do really love their cream cheese. They have a pretty decent selection of assorted bagels. This location does also deliver but there is a surcharge and can sometimes take a while (and whenever myself or a coworker orders, it's to be delivered to my office which is just down the street). However overall, Panera is always a classic quick non-fast food place to go to. I like that I have options like Panera, especially for a 1 hr lunch break. read more

I have avoided making this post for a long time, because for some reason they are popular and I don't share the opinion that the Panera chain is any better than bad. I have never walked out of a Panera thinking "wow, that was a good choice." It's over priced and just eh. I would rather take my $10 for a half soup/half salad and pay it forward to another local business that offers better options. There are a couple of places across Centennial and there are good delis nearby too. That being said, this particular is clean. On this particular occasion, they were out of the only two things on the menu I was craving. So, I didn't order and embarrassed my wife. I would rather not embarrass my wife. Sad. Let me preface this by saying I am in a Panera twice a week, on average. (You can see my previous review which is, in contrast to this location, a phenomenal one. ) This is the fifth time I've come to this location in over four years. The initial visit wasn't terrible and the store wasn't too busy, so we decided to book my son's Bakers-in-Training birthday party here 4 years back. The program was a new initiative from Corporate, so I won't blame this unit directly for the lackluster impressions. At least I could say that I now understood the business model and saw firsthand the condition of their operations. I almost wish that I hadn't. Two visits ago, back in 2016, the chatting employees at the front counter were too busy to acknowledge my presence standing five feet away from them. After being ignored for three minutes, I walked out. It was the middle of the afternoon. There was no line. There were barely any customers. And yet, the place looked in complete disarray. There was no excuse. I returned many months later out of necessity. My child wanted soup and I needed a bathroom. At least. I knew I could get this much from here. Excessively chatty and loud employees making the sandwiches, My son and I are back again tonight. The food is up to Panera standard -- one star. The staff seem pleasant enough -- another star. BUT, once again, we came into an almost empty store where almost a handful of booths were filthy, seat covers were ripped or just benches were falling apart. The floors were disgusting. If you don't want to lose your appetite, don't look under the table nor behind your seats. It's really sad. This location also has the worst, absolute worst restrooms I have ever seen. Toilet paper dispensers are broken and laying on the floor. Rubbish in every stall, by the sinks, and on the floor. I have never seen this level of disregard in any Panera. Now to be clear, after staying for more than quite a few hours, it seems that not all staff are to blame for the condition of this place. The two young folk "behind the line" are rock stars. They chatted and joked with each other, all the while banging out order after order. Very professional and pleasant to watch. Two others in the kitchen, one on the floor (truth be told, I didn't see a table or booth wiped down nor the floor swept even ONCE in three hours), one cashier, and one shift manager. A skeletal crew but getting the food out during the dinner shift was manageable. Luckily, there were a significant number of take-out orders; otherwise, there'd be lots of irate folks with no clean area to sit and eat. I'm assuming "bussing" the few tables that needed, dare I say screamed it, was not included in anyone's job description. Bottom line, as I said from the beginning, the staff is pleasant enough. But management will either need to provide additional training on pro action and service, or add another body or two during each shift. If they need more examples as to what Panera customers now come to expect, they can visit the Paneras' down Rte 1...in either North Brunswick AND/or South Brunswick. Their staff never stop...and whenever they're not serving, they're cleaning. South Plainfield can pick up a trick or two on how to keep one's restaurants friendly and clean at the same time. One of my favorite study spots around Rutgers area! I loved coming here to study with friends while munching on a bagel or sandwich and sipping on some soup! They have free wifi, and the wifi is very strong. However, not all tables have outlets near them. Plus, this place can get very crowded and loud during lunch time. Be sure to come here before the crowd comes to get good seat if you want to stay here for some time. This restaurant sucks. Ordered a bowl of soup for take out and got to my office and they forgot it. Called and the wanted me to come all the way back in order to get a refund. I explained how that would inconvenience me but had that I don't care attitude. Just terrible service and the food is way over priced..sucks as well quality has gone down hill at least at this location.. not surprised given it's location. I placed an order today for Rapid Pickup at 12:10 (two hours in advance). I arrived at the location at 11:50--granted a full 20 minutes before my timeslot but they weren't too busy (empty spots in the parking lots, no one inside, no one waiting at the door). I ask if my order can be picked up early. I spoke to three different employees; one said, I don't know where your order is so just wait in your car (huh? You don't know who I am and you are about to leave to make a delivery but I should sit in my car and wait for you to come back?). The second said, they'd look into it and I needed to go back outside (after asking my name three times). The third said they couldn't find my order and needed to speak with a manager. The manager finally said he'd look, ignored me as I stood there and a full ten minutes later put my order on the pick-up shelf without speaking to me. Fortunately I can read and saw my name on the receipt. My 12:10 order was finally ready at 12:17 so I waited 27 minutes at the actual store (7 minutes after the actual pickup) after ordering more than two hours ahead for lunch for one person (My order was one pick 2; 1/2 salad with mac & cheese). According to their signage...if they screw up they'll fix it and give you a sweet treat. I got surly employee attitude, no dessert (or an offer to make up for the mix-up) and no napkins for my lunch that I ate in the parking lot of my office building.....Oh and that other employee who told me to go wait in my car. She didn't return the ENTIRE time I was onsite. I still only get an hour for lunch. 10 minutes to your place, 30 minutes for my "rapid order" 10 minutes back to my office. **Note to self--never freakin, ever again eat HERE and don't pre-tip in the app...paying extra for sh*t service is a ripoff. read more

Panera is a chain, this one fairly average in relation to the others I've been to. I like their half soup half sandwich lunch specials and order frozen coffee every now and then. I've never had issues here with service or food quality. I can always get a seat at this location. That said, nothing really stands out about the place either. read more

I've ordered rapid pick up to go at other locations and have never had an issue until coming to this Panera. I ordered a pecan roll which was missing from my order and I also asked where my drink cup was and he goes you can go take one from the front. As a branch manager I used Panera in Piscataway for all my meetings catering needs. After not visiting the Piscataway location for 6 months I walked in and use your kiosk to quickly order. After using your awesome ordering screen, i go to the pick up line ask Maria if she can add a slice of lemon to my soup. She shakes her head with anger an attitude "what is your name" then didn't answer me when I asked a question. Liz, a manager, observed and jumped in right away and assured me WITH COURTESY, unlike Maria behind the counter, that we'd be happy to add whatever you like. Dear Maria, you're the result of that 1 star. You must be nicer to your customers, they don't know how the system works, it's your job to educate them so they can come back to see you. There are people buying your product that also cater to customers at their jobs, on a much faster and larger scale, all while maintaining a more humane n greater attitude than you've shown me. This was my first time ever to a Panera Bread and I wanted to see what the hubba is about. This place has good food however , needs to improve on service. The person at the cashier acted tied and was rushing me along so much that I could not understand her. I gave her my name ( for when my order will be ready ) and sat down and waited with my things. THIRTY MINUTES LATER, I came up to the front desk to see how long would it take the sandwich to be finished and the worker at the front desk said my food was ready EVEN THO no one called my name out whatsoever. The Sandwhich that I got was a Thai Chicken Flatbread Sandwich. Now while being alittle warm, I really liked it . Tasted fresh and has a nice little spice to it. I also enjoy how you get free kettle chips with the sandwich ( which were also good ). I ordered the Ice Coffee and it wasn't the best nor it isnt the worst . Just tasted like regular Ice Coffee that you get in other stores. I appreciate however, the free refills on the beverage. read more

This panera location is the closest one to me so I often come here. I get the same pick 2 every time which is 1/2 sand. of the napa chix salad and the broccoli cheddar soup. There are times where there were only a couple of pieces of chicken in my sandwich but there are also times where it's overflowing with chicken which is a lot better! I guess it depends on who makes the sandwich or if they're busy but it should be consistent every time. There were a couple of times where I guess they cut the sand. unevenly and it looks like I've only gotten 1/4 of a sandwich instead of half! I've also tried their chicken noodle soup and sometimes the flavor is perfect but there are times where they were a little salty. Again, no consistency. Also, their rewards program, I feel like they should go by how much you spend and not by how many times you visit before you get a reward. But on the positive side, service is actually pretty good. Rating on customer service/delivery only. On 9/6 I ordered delivery to my workplace at 12:24 and it was expected to arrive between 1:05-1:15; well, it didn't show until 1:49. While I was annoyed, I let it slide. Today I ordered again as I didn't have time to run out and I placed the order at 12:34pm with an expected delivery time of 1:30-1:40. I called shortly thereafter and spoke with a manager who stated it was out for delivery but there were 5-6 others in front of me but assured me it would be there shortly. At 2:25 I received a call from the driver informing me that the order didn't even go out yet. Needlesstosay, I canceled the order and informed them I would not be ordering from them again. The only thing they offered was to speak to a manager but why would I speak to the same person that lied to me in the first place? No thank you. Selfish people love to take an entire booth up for themselves and staff doesn't really care to enforce any type of person limit to the booths. The service is different every single time. Sometimes they bring your food to your table, sometimes you have to go and get it yourself. Sometimes people are walking around cleaning up your finished bowls and trays, sometimes you have to do it yourself. Sometimes they're super cheerful and sometimes they're not. All in all, I have gone at different times of the day and I have never had any trouble finding a table for myself. The food is consistent. I have camped out here all day and haven't been bothered. I've stopped in for a quick bite and it's been as quick as I've planned it to be. Love this place. read more

I generally liked the Panera Bread Chain enough to frequent this place with Coworkers since I work in the area. This one is fairly large and I have never experienced not being able to find any seating, unlike other Paneras in the area. I did have an experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. They served me cold Broccoli Cheese Soup. When I brought it back up to have it reheated they told me they couldn't reheat it since they don't have Microwaves. No microwaves to prepare food in a restaurant is a huge plus! However, they proceeded to tell me that I would have to use the Microwave in the Coffee area in the front of the store to nuke my soup myself. If I wanted to microwave my own soup I would have stayed at work and eaten the shitty Campbell's soup in my desk thank you very much. read more

The Panera it's self is nice inside, cozy and clean. The food comes out timely and the staff is very helpful and accommodating. I often order online rapid pick-up. The online ordering is a stuggle and I often have to close out and put the entire orDer in again. That's not the fault of this location though. They make the food very fast because every time I come in whether it be 15 minutes after ordering or 5 minutes the food is always ready. The bakery items look nice, but I don't eat them. I ordered 3 brioche sandwiches, one w/sausage and two w/bacon. The cashier said they were out of brioche bread (even though it was about 10:30am) and suggested we choose another bread for the sandwiches. My husband was extremely disappointed because this was the only reason we came out for breakfast and was about to pay $15 for breakfast sandwiches was for these brioche sandwiches. Reluctantly we chose a different bread option (with little help from the whispering, mumbling cashier with regards to compatible options). While the breakfast was being prepared I went over to the counter where a jr. manager (I think) was waiting to pick up the orders and asked why would the store be out of brioche so early in the morning? She asked the cook if he had brioche bread and he said yes, we have 3. Now of course I was upset wondering why I was given misinformation! I promptly asked for my sandwiches to be prepared on brioche instead. The "manager" then apologized and said "with the holiday and all we didn't want to over prepare too much bread...so it wouldn't go to waste." To say that I was upset is an understatement! You can't advertise a delicious sandwich only to say oh sorry you're out of luck because this is the day you decided to come here.
