Though no one greeted me when I came in to pick up my online order, I was greeted by a young male staff member in the back kitchen as I was leaving. Didn't get more stars because of my dessert-- awful. The Blondie (Cookie/brownie) advertises as super soft, almost gooey inside. Not! It was stale, dry, crumbly, not moist at all, barely noticed the one chocolate chip. And, did I mention it was tiny enough for a barbie doll to eat? That it was my "birthday treat" made it worse, because even though I didn't pay for the expensive cookie, I was mentally looking forward to it as a birthday treat. We've had multiple bad experiences at this CAVA location. One time, we ordered ahead, and while the receipt was correct, the bowls were completely different from what we ordered. To make matters worse, there was no way to get in touch with anyone. We tried calling the locations several times. The other option was driving 20 minutes back to the restaurant and with a newborn, that wasn't happening. Today, I found a piece of plastic in my bowl. Once again, I couldn't reach anyone to report the issue. This is completely unacceptable, especially when it comes to food safety. Not to mention they were out of several things and said they were not making more of at 7pm when they don't close until 1030pm. Even when I said I would wait, they said they were not doing it. I don't know what happened to this location, but the quality and customer service have really gone downhill. Very disappointing. read more

First time ordering here. We ordered online and when we arrived, multiple staff standing around talking and no one came over to make sure we were taking the correct order. So after a few minutes we just take our bag and go. Food was ok. I was disappointed they forgot the sauce. I just had a kids meal but I would try again and get a regular meal. I was excited to try Cava for the very first time. Parking was a bit challenging.. I hope that there is a plan for more space and there are literally only about 8 spots... on a very busy Saturday night, this can become a challenge. As I mentioned, we came here on a Saturday night.. I'm sure one of the busiest times to come here. The line seemed to be moving along fast enough. I love that the attendants are wearing hair nets as they are literally positioned over the food all day (Chipotle style). Service was friendly.. but I have to shout out (so sad I forgot to get her name) an attendant who went out of her way to find picked onions after I almost wailed that they ran out. She was able to find a small cup for me but boy did that go a long way for top of the line customer service! I feel as though the portion sizes could've been larger, but at least I didn't feel like a whale after finishing my bowl. Everything was delicious! I ordered a bowl with rice, chicken, and a bunch of toppings. Very flavorful. I signed up for the rewards and am looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of their menu! read more

People are very rude.Serving food with the positive energy goes a long way. Liliana who made our bowl had an attitude for everything. Not a single person behind the counter had a smile on their face. Placed an order for online pickup and had to wait an additional 20 minutes and while "things happen", you are assembling a wrap, how do you miss the mark that badly? Only answer is poor service and management. And after that long wait...they got the order wrong! read more

The East Brunswick location is busy which is good for them. But the wait time, cleanliness, service attitude, and accuracy of order are terrible in my opinion. Been here a couple of times and super long wait for online order, sticky floors, customer facing employees focused on work, salad missing half the items on list. That must come down to management and coaching of team members because the North Brunswick location is wildly better in all aspects. Order there every week with consistently positive employees and experience. read more

Easily the worst cava I've ever been to constantly the worst staff ever these people have little to no IQ on the simplest task. If you order for pick up it's gonna take all day. The staff constantly have attitude problems for no reason they are doing the simplest jobs that require a little to no thinking and still can't do it properly. It's almost amazing. read more

We usually get takeout here about 2-3 times a week. Cava as a whole is amazing as I have noted in my review of the Bridgewater location. Mediterranean diets and those style of ingredients are becoming increasingly popular because they are healthier than many traditional quick serve/fast food restaurants that we grew up with that are heavy on fried foods, saturated fat, and mayo based sauces. The East Brunswick location on 18 is consistent. As others have noted there can be long lines/ a wait. I have noticed that this location does have newer staff somewhat regularly and because Summer has ended, so customers have to be a little more patient...There have been a few times I have gone and felt that the servings of proteins (chicken, harissa chicken, steak, schwarma chicken, lamb) have been skimp i.e. under level as opposed to heaping spoon/scoopful...but overall the servers are generally consistent with portions. The restaurant itself is clean and the parking is ample. I think that the Cava restaurants, no matter which one you go to will be good, so the primary way Cava locations will distinguish themselves is the customer service. We keep coming back to this particular location because of the staff. They are friendly, smiling, and accommodating. One individual in particular I wanted to mention in the review is ROSA. If you have a question on how something tastes or help with the app she will help you out or provide a small sample (I sampled the schwarma chicken and it ended up being one of my favorite proteins there). Rosa always has a smile on her face and is very-very cheerful. You can tell she likes her job and she likes interacting with the customers...and it comes off as genuine/sincere. Not forced or out of obligation. I appreciate this because when I was in food service back when I was going to college I strived to be the same way with customers. I also have seen her helping train new employees and how she interacts with her co-workers when the restaurant gets busier...I hope management appreciates her and some of her other longer tenured colleagues that I have observed since they opened. I cant remember his name but there is another gentleman that works there that is especially friendly that usually is on the grill and cutting meats that is originally from Newark who struck up a conversation with me because he saw my NJIT windbreaker...so we have a quick chat about Newark... If you are close to this location I would go here over the North Brunswick location. Its does get a little busy because college students have descended upon this location since Rutgers is back in session but during the Summer and later in the evenings mid-week it is less crowded... read more

Tried CAVA and loved it! I got the steak bowl with the sauces on the side, and everything was super fresh and flavorful. The kids were happy too--they snacked on pita chips and shared my bowl. They ended up eating most of it. The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and even though it was busy, service was quick. Definitely feels like a healthier fast-casual spot we'll keep going back to. read more

Never seen such a juxtaposition happening in one location. Let's start with the positive part. Dee is an absolute gem, she is so sweet and funny, puts amazing portions, and listened right away when I asked if we could have broccoli from another container because there was feta mixed in, and we can't have diary. She is honestly carrying the location, and definitely deserves a raise!! On the other hand, the other worker violated a lot of sanitary standards, and nearly made me disgusted enough to not eat my bowl. She wiped down all of the ingredients from the counter with her gloves and then used those SAME gloves to pick the feta out of the broccoli container, mixing it together with her gloves and picking out feta throughout the entire container. When I asked her to switch the container of broccoli, she nodded and never listened. It wasn't until I asked Dee that there was some action. I write this because she nearly ruined the experience for my family trying Cava for the first time, and not properly training workers like this can lead the location to lose a lot of business. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!!!! The employees are very rude, and they look at you like your annoying them. There was one worker who I guess was in charge. She was wearing all black with black headress. She was giving attitude to the other workers and just doesnt seem nice whatsoever. I got a create your own bowl with falafel. I have never seen falafel that had chunks of chickpeas in it. This was not authentic Middle Eastern food, which I didn't expect but I was also disappointed with the lackluster customer service. Also home girl who works there with tattoos on both arms got a major attitude and gives you RBF vibes as if I'm in the wrong when they messed up. I ordered the Falafel Crunch Bowl for takeout early Sunday evening, around 6. I was told they ran out of Romaine lettuce, but that's OK. My bowl came with two (2) room-temperature, smaller-than-golf-ball-sized falafel balls! This was very disappointing, and it was not worth the price. And the Side Pita tasted "funny." Used to go to the one in Princeton and was very excited to hear about this opening a little closer to home. Upon walking in, we noticed how busy it was here and there doesn't seem to be enough tables. Compared to the other location, this place is less generous with serving amount and seem to not give a lot of each item. Also, when asking if they had diet soda, a few different people didn't know. How do you not know? They said they have a fountain machine so I asked if it's there they didn't know. I myself, walked around to see that they indeed did have diet soda. Just kinda annoying. In general the staff was not very friendly and considering I had to check the drink for myself, I would say they weren't helpful either. The food was good. Luckily a table opened up so I could eat there. For the future, I would try to limit my questions because they don't care about helping. Know what you want, don't ask questions and plan on taking your food to go. Not an ideal situation, but clearly this is not where you're going for good, friendly service. read more

Extremely disappointed in my experience here. The food was great but I wish could say the same for the customer service. After ordering my bowl, and moving to pay, I waited a considerable amount of time to pay, and when the cashier was done typing, I Apple paid. I was then told I had paid for the person in front of me. I told them it was no problem, and would be happy to wait to sort it out , instead I was met with annoyance and told it was my fault, my fault that they let the person in front of me leave before paying. Who I presume was the manager was brought over and continued to fix the situation while also making me feel like I was an idiot. I recommend ordering for online pick up, unless you enjoy feeling like the biggest nuisance by the staff, even when you are extremely nice about a mistake they made.
