I think Panera is pretty good if you're looking for a deli sandwich. The prices are okay, especially since one sandwich is too much for me, I often share it. I usually stick to the Italian, I've noticed that the bread changes depending on who makes it. One day the sandwich is big enough for 3 people, and another day it's as if I ordered a half sandwich and was charged full price. I've tried the wild rice and french onion soup and both are okay. The soup had mushrooms, cabbage, slivers of carrot, cilantro and a delicious broth with sesame seeds and tender noodles throughout. I've never been to a Panera Bread so I didn't know what to expect. The place was clean and the people were friendly. It took a while to get through the line to order but gave me a chance to review the menu. I got a Thai Garden Chicken Wonton Broth Bowl and a 1/2 Cobb Salad with Avacado. Not sure the wontons were wontons. More like a tortolini. Spinach, cilantro, cabbage, and brocolli were in the soup and along with the broth, very good. The Cobb was very good too even though a bit light on avacado. This isn't the cheapest place that you can go to and seems a bit spendy for a soup, salad, sandwich place. However the meal was great and I'll pay a bit more for a quality meal. read more

During lunch time hard to find parking so i park in the hotel lot on the east side or in Michael's craft store on the southwest side of cafe. Under-trained and uninterested. Food-wise, correctly serving two meals was too big an ask at this location. Asked for a Fuji apple chicken salad with no tomatoes and easy onions, ended up with ample of both. Wife got a Greek salad, this one lacked the tomatoes and somehow had pickled onions. I had to pass her my onions and tomatoes. Like a child. We wanted bread rolls as our side; they said they were out. At Panera Bread. Wife asked if they could cut a bread bowl in half or slice up one of their baguettes and the keen quick-draw behind the counter had to ask her manager. Their beverage station was emptied and broken down a full hour before close. Obviously nobody wants to be there. Bathrooms smelled like urine and had chunks of paper towel in the sink preventing it from draining properly. I understand this is a college town and it's nearly impossible to get kids to care about anything, but the sooner you start firing people for incompetence, the sooner you teach them they don't just deserve money, they have to give a crap. We've been to many Panera's and never had anything but positive experiences. However, given the above, what would be the point of speaking to management in person? The food is pre-packaged and just thrown together when you order it - just try and ask for a salad without croutons and it wont happen (that would mean someone would have to pick them out of the pre-packaged salads by hand..no dice!). I think Panera has lost its niche in the flavor of food they serve. Two nights ago I went in there for something different and exciting. But the food was basic. I got the pick two. The 1/2 grilled turkey on 3-cheese bread sandwich tasted like a grilled cheese sandwich I can get at home. The potato soup was bland, tasting like something off a store shelf, and surprisingly the chunk of hard bread expected with the meal turned into a dinner roll. She told me no one could bring me chips and all she could offer me was a free drink voucher. I told her I didn't really want a free drink and she was silent. Of all the Panera's I've been to, this one is one of my favorites. Yes it can get really crowded but the food is always consistent and good. As someone who is gluten-free, Panera is a great chain that offers a lot of GF options. Any salad is pretty much GF if you remove the croutons or tortilla. Staff was friendly.
