Panera used to be my go to for lunch but over the years their menu became bloated and they lost their way. I'm happy to say that they might be turning a corner and getting back to quality over quantity. This location always gets a decent amount of traffic especially the drive-thru. Employees greet me once again instead of being relegated to a tablet. The bakery items have also leveled up. The cherry danish has a slight, baked crunch and isn't soggy mush. The coffee has also gotten better. I used to avoid it due to the acidity and bitterness from the premade batches. Now the coffee beans are ground to order using the drink machines and it's so much better for it. These days things tend to get worse, but this is a welcome change on multiple fronts. read more

Solid Panera spot to stop at if you're in the Naperville area. While I don't exactly love the layout of this shopping center with the curvy layout that can be confusing for people visiting it for the first time (particularly if visibility is blocked by snow), this also means that this Panera is a bit separated from traffic moving around the shopping center. With the ordering and pickup on opposite ends of the restaurant and a elongated layout, I feel that the noise inside the restaurant was a bit quieter than other Paneras, great for working, relaxing, or having a casual conversation. Food is about the same here as other Paneras, for me service is maybe a little slower than some other locations -- but at the same time, also a bit more patrons than I'd expect to see in the middle of a weekend afternoon. One of the more unique things I saw here was machines to brew hot/cold coffee rather than the containers with prebrewed coffee. For me, I enjoyed using the machines though I don't think the flavor was really much different -- though maybe a little less acidic since the coffee wasn't sitting around. My husband and I met a friend at this Panera Bread. The restaurant was set up so that it is comfortable and inviting to meet with friends. We wanted to get a light lunch so we ordered the you pick two with the chicken pesto dippers and autumn squash soup with baguette. We were offered a half price bakery item and we got the cinnamon roll. The soup and sandwich were very good and flavorful. The cinnamon roll was decent but on the plainer side. We go to this Panera Location quite a bit. As someone with a digestive medical condition I often have to eat a lot of soup I can finally get Tomato Soup is very flavorful & Autumn Squash soup in season however whoever fulfills orders doesn't understand NO pumpkin seeds in my squash soup:-(. My husband loves different chicken sandwiches and grilled cheese from Panera especially when he adds different types of cheeses to his sandwich. This is the slowest Panera bread location I have ever been to. Look I get if they are busy but they were not. There is one person in front of me and I think that the lady who is at the register has never worked these fancy new machines called computers. Literally looks like she is doing surgery. I normally have no issue with this Panera, it's pretty standard as far as Panera goes, but today I ordered a customized Ciabatta Cheesesteak and received a chicken bacon rancher instead? My receipt shows the cheesesteak so I'd imagine it was just a silly mistake, it is pretty early in the morning, but I tried to call them 3 times to ask about getting a partial refund because the customizations I got on the sandwich I actually wanted were expensive and I didn't have time to go back and have my order corrected because this was supposed to be my breakfast before work and we were going to open soon. The freezing weather today got me craving for some soup and Panera came to the rescue!! The broccoli cheddar soup always hits the spot! We ordered on the app today and dined in at the local panera. I got the southwest chicken sourdough melt which was so comforting with the broccoli cheddar soup as part of the pick 2 combo. I also got an apple with it. We also got the chipotle chicken melt on black pepper focaccia which was fresh and delicious too. They've always gotten my order 100% accurate, whether I order through the app or in person. Overall I was happy with my Panera experience, however I did have an issue with order accuracy. Positive points: The person working the drive thru was very nice, polite and helpful with reviewing bread options for my sandwich. They were also careful to make sure they got my order correct during the order process. (You pick 2: tuna salad sandwich on Asiago with only mayo, onion and cheddar cheese. The other option was max & cheese). The cashier at the window was also very nice, I ended up passing along compliments to both employees for their positive attitude. Minor bad point: Even with the detailing the order; the sandwich was incorrect, got turkey instead of tuna salad. Everything else was correct, just wrong meat. I did eat it as I don't want to waste food, and it was a good turkey sandwich; just not what I ordered or was anticipating. Understandable that both sandwiches started with the same letter and easy to make a mistake. Earned a free warm bowl through the MyPanera rewards -- used this to order the Mediterranean Bowl with Chicken. The bowl comes with cilantro lime brown rice and quinoa, chicken, arugula, grape tomatoes, kalamata olives, hummus, lemon tahini dressing, feta and greek yogurt. Overall, the bowl tasted pretty good. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat this or really crave it, but if I happened to be in the mood for a healthier meal at panera, this is probably what I would order. Greetings, I ordered online at 8:20am/8:30am yesterday morning 12/19/2023, I placed the order online to be pick up at 2:45pm, I arrived at this location early and I was on time at 2:32pm. I pull up in the drive-thru, I specifically ask this lying special young lady about my order, I repeated my name twice, the special young lady tells me that my order is correct and ready. So, I had to wait for an order that was previously called in the morning. I finally get my order? I Head home, just to pull up in my driveway, put my car in park to look in the bag to see my order is wrong. I'm beyond frustrated so I tried calling three times, no one answered my calls. So I go in to, change my clothes, I come back out and drive back to the same location. As I walk in, I see a young lady, she looks at me and she keep walking to the back, with another young kid, she begins to dance. Something I noticed with business and other businesses, all I see is babies/ kids working, I think that's part of the problem. The younger generation is out of control. Moving forward, I get there, I greet a young lady, I ask to speak with a manager. He (assistant manager) walks up to the Register/counter, rude, he didn't greet me. I spoke to him to him anyway, then I describe to him in details why I ask to speak to a manager. The assistant manager nonchalantly dismissively rudely interrupted me while I'm talking, he ask me for my name and then he comes back with this stone cold zombie look on his face and says I will give you a refund, he shows me no concerns. At this time my forehead is sweating, I'm getting more annoyed, and I say to the assistant manager is that it, then I say to him, do you not understand how much valuable time I've wasted, I then say, I worked fourteen hours today, I just want my refund and go home. The manager looks me in my eyes and tells me you are getting a refund, what do you want! He then says do you want a reward. I ask him he was serious! I then ask him, has he taken a customer service course. I tell him it's not about the refund, it's the principle. I tell him, it's not what he did, it's how he went about doing it. I tell the manager to lead by example. I ask him for my refund and I left out. The young lady who was in the drive-thru is a rude unprofessional liar, The assistant manager was rude, nonchalant, unprofessional, and he has no people skills, no mannerism, no understanding, and he is beyond ignorant. General manager Mr. Jordan, definitely not a good look. My question is, do you care about your customers? I'm reading the reviews, I'm not the first person to experience receiving the wrong order. From my experience your assistance manager needs coaching, and your special lying young lady employee needs to take a customer service course. Food and service were both delicious! I love that they set it up now where they know where to deliver your food - so much easier!! My bread bowl totally hit the spot. Every soup I've tried has always been fantastic. And those lemonades they offer are just so darn good!! There was a guy going around consistently cleaning the tables and carpet so it's nice to see them stay on top of their cleanliness. Maybe this is posted somewhere, but it is not acceptable for the restaurant to assume that their employees are providing tip-able service. I know that in this day-and-age it is pretty much expected that even poor service deserves a tip. This needs to be stopped. A tip is not to forced to pay for the servers. The business pays their servers and we tip when the service deserves it. A lot of poor servers out there that don't care to try because of this mandatory tipping. I'm done with that. The Panera in Glen Ellyn, Il is the closest one to my home. Some friends and I go there for late breakfast at least once a week. Compared to the Panera in Danada Shopping mall in Wheaton, Il it is consistently poorly managed in every way. Everytime the bakery display is slim pickins- the few muffins available look old, a couple of random pastries available and never any souffles. Frequently out of soups especially the French onion and the chix noodle I had this morning tasted like it came from the nearby hospital with about a spoonful of ingredients in dishwater. My friend got a Sprite and it had an overwhelming mildew taste and smell. After several months of our get togethers at Glen Ellyn Panera we decided to switch to meet at another local business from now on. read more

I seem to have selective memory when it comes to Panera, over and over again. I always recall it as being better than it ends up being in reality. Toasted sandwiches? Nowhere near as good as Corner Bakery's paninis. In fact, the sandwiches may be the weakest link of all here. Bagels? Good, but not any more exciting than Einstein's etc. (The hazelnut cream cheese deserves its own star, though.) Soup? Okay, but never served nearly hot enough; the French Onion is the best, but if you want a version that is SO MUCH better, go to Mimi's on 59. Salads are serviceable, and bakery is good (especially cookies). Unlike some fast-casual spots, they have the pager system, so a lot of people cluster at the end of the counter to wait rather than going to a table and coming back, so the "flow" of people around the ordering/pick-up/condiments-and-beverage area kinda sucks. The seating in this place is INSANE: not only the fact that I have never once been in here at any time of day when it has not been packed to the gills, but also the wackadoo layout of the tables, kind of flung all over the place (it's hard to weave through them while you're balancing a cafeteria tray of hot soup, let's put it that way). You can call ahead and order for takeout, but don't bother: my mom did this the other day, then showed up to pick it up and they hadn't even started making her food yet! (Also, I know this isn't the fault of this particular location, but Panera has the WORST laid-out website ever for a national business: circuitous and muddled.) Overall, the next time I think of eating here, I need to remember writing this review and head to Corner Bakery or another simulacrum instead. Unless I'm looking solely for hazelnut cream cheese. Today was my first attempt at Panera's breakfast menu. Oh yeah! Sausage, Egg & Cheese on a warm Ciabatta bread was exactly what I ordered. By the time I was done creating my hazelnut coffee concoction, my order was ready. I love Italian bread and my first bite into the ciabatta was soft and greeted with the intense flavor of meat and cheese. Now that's how you start off your morning right.
