I happen to love Panera. Though, the prices could be a bit cheaper, or the portions a bit larger. I can't handle how good their greek salad is paired with my black bean soup... and if you're lucky... a warm baguette! The bakery. Yum. Downright expensive, you bet. Over-rated. Met family here for lunch one day. Checked their online menu before going and the squash soup sounded and looked great on their website. It was a no-brainer. Order the soup in a bread bowl...funny, the website shows the soup garnished with nuts/seeds, which looked really appetizing. No such garnish in my soup, however. Just an overly sweet version of soup. The bread bowl didn't disappoint, but I felt the marketing department took some liberties in the advertisement for the soup. Not eager to go back again. I come to this Panera a lot. It's close to my work and they have a drive thru, which is very convenient, except a few days, like today, where the line is wrapped around the building. But hey, gives me a chance to review the place. I have been inside. It's your typical Panera decor. This one seems to be slightly messier than other stores I've seen. The people are friendly enough. I order the same thing a lot of times... the Fuji Apple Chicken Salad. Many times one of the components are missing or the skimp on something. Sometimes, it's jam packed with goodies, so it's a little inconsistent. A lot of times I order chips with it instead of bread. They, have many times, given me bread. I placed an order for delivery. A very simple order. When I received my order, I did not have utensils as specified and the bowl of soup I ordered was not full and it did not have the extra pumpkin seeds that I paid an additional price for. I don't know if the order was intentionally done this way or if my soup was eaten with the spoon that was not in the bag. It wasn't even hot and the store is only .5miles away. Either way, I am hungry and disappointed. I called the store multiple times from different phones and they did not answer the phone. Very poor service. This is the worst Panera that I, unfortunately, have to visit from time to time. About one out of four visits their WiFi either downright won't work or is super slow. I have to remind myself if I need to work online I better visit another location. They recently renovated the store, and made it feel more like a McDonald. Whoever is behind the renovation has no idea what customers want from a Panera experience. It's a pity because the store has a good location. The absolute only thing you need to know about this particular Panera? IT HAS A DRIVE THRU. Otherwise, service is great, food is always superb, and the lines move quickly. I was so happy when my office relocated near this Panera - with a drive-thru lane! The excitement wore off quickly. The drive-thru line was wrapped around the building, the parking lot was crowded, the restaurant inside was packed and noisy, all before 12PM! I opted to order inside, and perhaps I will try out the drive-thru at a later time. The order area is tiny, and people were jammed against a wall partition. The menu placement above the registers is fine, but the line was so long that I couldn't get a good look at it. Then I ordered a sandwich that doesn't exist anymore (Cuban Chicken Panini). Oh fine, but if I could've read the menu, I would have been more prepared. The employees were nice and surprisingly in good spirits despite being mobbed. Sandwiches, salads, soups, and lots of baked gods. It's Panera, and the food itself is good. But this location - ugh! I'll take a pass. This is seriously the most poorly designed Panera I have ever been into. They have a huge open area for the bakery, but then for the lunch area where you are supposed to order soup and sandwiches there is this narrow pathway that makes it difficult to not be in the way. Also you can't see the menu until you're right in front, and then when you have to wait for your food there is again NO waiting space and you're standing next to people sitting at tables and eating their lunch. Just bad, bad design and flow. That being said, the soup I got there was good, as is to be expected at most Paneras. What do I use Panera for now-a-days? Guilt free fast food! Especially on those days when I am running late to work or want to pick up a quick bite before heading somewhere. I don't sit down and dine in anymore, but I know that this location is always super busy! I LOVE Panera's express pick-up. All I have to do is order/pay online and then pick up the brown bag at the back (near the dine-in pick up station). No waiting in the looooong drive through, no cashier lines, no searching for orders, just go in and pick up! Granted, there has to be a lot of trust that customers don't go in and steal food that is not theirs, but I've used the express plenty of times and never had a problem! (I think this is the first chain I've seen do this) Around certain Holidays (ex. Father's day this year) there might be a promotional program where you can buy a $50 gift card and they give you $10 extra- really good value! read more

They raised the prices, lowered the serving sizes and hired a bunch of disgruntles workers. The food is the same where ever you go, I do like that. When I travel I know that in KY I can get the Black Bean Soup and be happy and when I am in MD I can get the classic cafe salad without a problem. Hmmmm... Lunching in Naperhell is never wonderful, but the experience here could be improved. 1. They have a new drive through that COMPLETELY messes up the entrance. Yeah- the lanes go directly into the entrance way and I am waiting for a pile up. Seriously. The Soccer Moms in empty and ginormous SUVs take the right of way as their god given right- and move for no one. So until they clear out of the parking lot- you are STUCK! 2. Once you are inside, the manners of the clientele do not really change. Pushing, blocking the way to either the pop/tea dispenser or blocking the pick up counter because- well- THEY are IMPORTANT! You would think that the architect would have taken a moment or two to pause and think about people flow... but well, yeah- that was obviously too much to ask. 3. Food quality varies. Portions have gotten much smaller- this used to be lunch and dinner in one meal. Those days are GONE suckers! I have had some raunchy assed asigo roast beef sandwiches here- also some good ones. 4. In the city and the close-in suburbs, Panera Bread provides a useful community service as unofficial drop-in centers for the homeless, and various others with nowhere else to go. But as you venture further out into the exurban wasteland, Panera Bread locations become more common, and serve a different purpose. I am not yet certain what that purpose is. We can only pretend this place is what we want it to be -- someplace better. At best, Panera (including the Ogden location specifically) is mediocre done right. Clean, friendly, convenient, and illuminated with indirect lighting. At worst, you may find yourself staring at a a cold $10 sandwich, overlflowing with lettuce and American cheeze, perhaps wondering how your evening might have gone differently. The Ogden Avenue location is noteworthy for its impressive barriers to entry. There are several obstacles drivers will encounter during the slow drive over from the H Mart across the Ogden Mall, some marked by trees and others by random curbiture that has surely wrecked a few tires. Once you reach the property, there at first appears to be no way into the parking lot, as the obvious entrance is actually the exit from the drive-thru. (And does Panrea really need a drive-thru?) You have to drive over by the Citibank and then do a loop around to get into the parking lot. Once here, the lot is divided into three separate parking areas, each with its own door into the restaurant. But only the door from the smallest center lot actually works. Once here, I dunno.... The sandwiches fall into a grey area: not as comforting as true fast food, and yet not as satisfying as actual deli sandwiches. You'll be out $10-$12 for a meal, and wonder why. And does anyone ever buy bread here? I've never seen customers order baked goods, and yet somehow they always run out by suppertime. I don't get this place. And I don't get why I'm here. But I know in Naperville, oh unholy sprawl across the western plains, it's tough to avoid the lowest common denominator. I'm embarrassed for this location, along with the GPS tracking function of their service. Poor experience for a small delivery order placed with 18 hours notice. I hosted a business meeting and the order arrived over 30 minutes late. I would've been OK with the delay if I was notified, or if they picked up the phone when I called six times and couldn't talk to an employee to check the status. I don't normally write reviews when I am still annoyed by my experience, but today is an exception. I am also a little surprised at being the first one to add this business here. I have been to this panera alot of times and while the service and food is pretty standard and what I expect, the clientelle is what bothers me at this location. This location draws a decent number of groups but the layout isn't too conducive to groups. Tables have to be pushed together, there is no separate room for privacy for the group and the other patrons away from the group. I tend to go to work on my homework with a computer and some headphones. I have had 15 people sing to a couple from ~3.5 minutes, management didn't do anything. I have been essentially blocked into a corner by a city council candidate and his supporters without any consideration to myself as to whether I might want to get out. After today I am going to go to the Wheaton one to do homework and only come to this one anymore during the mornings because of the drive thru. I wish that it was a nicer Panera that was closest to me. read more

Was intended for Boss's Day. Questioned if I had the correct store, questioned if it was paid in full, which it was online and even left a tip. Waited 15 minutes for the order to be filled. After inviting my friend to Bikram this afternoon, late lunch was in order. I really liked this Panera for a lot of reasons. The wi-fi isn't choppy, there's plenty of parking, its close to I-88, the service was pretty quick and after planting down for a homework session, I didn't feel rushed. I had the chicken salad sandwhich/black bean soup combo and the portions were perfect. The chicken salad wasn't gamey and the black bean soup wasn't too salty. The prices are about right for the portion that you're getting and I like the nutrition facts that are posted on the menu. On a Sunday afternoon, the ambiance is definitely chill, with a charming, active 60+ crowd present. Trust me. You can get a lot of homework done here. read more

Always a solid, but not fantastic panini. Not thrilled with the new Thai Chopped Salad: too many lima beans, too many carrots, not enough peanuty-ness. There is something that always bothers me here. The lids to the beverages don't snap on right. It always takes an extra minute to get my beverage closed. Picky, I know, but it's a detractor. I don't like that you pay for the side with the salad. People get a salad usually to not have sides. I like the new calorie counts on the menu. I wonder if they are actually accurate. I doubt so. I hate this stupid parking lot.
