It's obvious that the bad reviews are by struggling competition. The reason people go to Paners is because the food, service, and price are good. I go here all the time. Green smoothie is delicious, veggie sandwich, frontega chicken... I recommend it all! Salads are not that great in my opinion, but lots of friends enjoy them. Yes it's expensive for a quick lunch spot but they treat their employees great and bake the food every single night. I'm okay with paying extra for that! read more

Saturday morning 10/10/15: Wrong orders, terribly slow service, wandering employees, broken pagers for food pick-up, dirty tables, empty coffee carafes, floor spills, and all the while, two (2) managers were on the floor. Ordered food at about 8:15 pm on a Monday night. When we came in one of the employees was sweeping the floor. She finished and went back to the food prep area. She asked her manager, who was prepping the food, what to do next and he asked her to get a roll for my order. Without washing her hands or putting on gloves she grabbed a roll from the bin and he put it in my bag! I was so disgusted by this! Who knows what else and where else she had been cleaning. Love the chicken Alfredo tortellini...wish they would bring back the Chicken Sonoma soup. Daniel usually won't touch soup but it's his favorite. Nice to have a warm meal on a very cold night for North Carolina. Picked this up to go so I had to update. Tortellini was disappointing tonight - lukewarm and salty. Bread was way too hard. Love Panera and frequent many locations around the triangle but this location has poor service and stale food. I suspect this location just doesn't get as much traffic as others so the bagels are a couple days old. I've been eating breakfast at this Panera location (darrington dr., cary) once a week for the past 5 years. It has slowly, but steadily, gone downhill. It used to be neat and clean all the time, but not anymore. I usually arrive at 8:00 am and even at that early hour the place is messy. None of the tables have been wiped clean, the floor is a mess and the drink area is littered with trash. The service has gone from great to mediocre. The employees used to be much more friendly and actually remembered me from week to week. Not now ... they go through the motions and don't attempt to recognize frequent visitors. When I first started visiting this location for breakfast, there was always a good variety of breads and pastries. I always like to get a loaf of bread and a dozen bagels to go. Now when I go in there are very few loaves of bread and even fewer bagels!! I tried to get a dozen bagels this morning at 8:00 am and they only had 3-4 varieties (the ones my children would never eat). I was told they would be making more this afternoon. I stopped back in at 2:00 pm and the number of loaves of bread and bagels was minuscule! I was told they weren't making any more today ... not good since they are open until 10:00pm. What are they going to feed their dinner crowd?! The inadequate supply of breads and bagels is not a one time occurrence. I would say about 8 times out of 10 I experience this. I have to go to another Panera which is annoying and inconvenient. I've discussed this with many of the employees there and yet the problems persist. I've taken my family here for dinner at least twice a month. Every time we go there it is dirty and they are out of Mac n Cheese or some other item we wish to order. I would have given up years ago but it is conveniently located. EVERY TIME I get take out for dinner something is missing (and I mean every time without fail). I have to drive all the way back and prove to the manager that something was missing. By the time I get back home my food is cold. I've stopped going here for dinner. Terrible!!! I guess I'm going to go to the Bruegger's located down the street. They are always friendly and always seem to have a good variety of bagels and they have never gotten my order wrong. Every time I go to Panera, I promise myself that I will never go back. The sandwiches get smaller and smaller, as does the amount of meat on the sandwich. I don't believe the prices do the same. The apple I was offered as a side was marginal at best. My suggestion to Panera: Keep the quality and the prices on the same level. It is now not there. Went to this Panera for a bacon soufflé, an artichoke soufflé and two papaya green tea drinks. Got there at 10:10. They only had two really old looking cheese soufflés left and I was told they wouldn't be making any more for the day. So I took the old cheese ones and ordered two papaya green teas only to find out they didn't have any of those either. They don't give a crap at this panera. I had a Gift Card to use here and cashed it in today. I must say it was quite a confusing start; there were 2 lines to 2 cashiers, and a big group of other folks and I who walked in at the same time didn't know which line to be in, but we tentatively assured each other that the breakfast cashier line *must* be okay to stand in to order our lunch meals. Turns out we were right, and I was able to order a Chai Tea Latte in this line too. The cashier took my order with the enthusiasm of a garden snail, but she got it right and made a good Latte and at least wasn't chewing gum and snapping bubbles while she leaned on the cash register and stared off as I placed my order. She handed me one of those pager-coaster things along with my receipt and it only took about 2 minutes to vibrate and blink. I took it to the Receiving area and picked up my nice sized Tomato & Mozzarella Panini. The fellow who made sure folks were picking up the correct orders was quite engaging which made me feel more welcome, whew! I searched down a table and got started on my meal. The Panini was awesome and the Chai Tea Latte went great with it. Again, the order process and dining setup was a little bit awkward, but the food seemed very fresh, and most employees seemed very nice. read more

Manager is dishonest don't ask for dark roast coffee he will put a dark roast tag on light roast coffee instead of brewing what you ask for. Manager deceiving trying to lie about making coffee he didn't feel like making! Panera use to be a place to go with a good atmosphere and good customer service, panera now is like fast food no more customer service there's computers so you can place your own order and wait for your name on a screen! This Panera Bread recently moved across the street to a new building. They should have left their employees at the old location. There are at least 3 Panera's near us. This is the worst. I ordered the steak and arugula sandwich with no cream cheese spread. My wife ordered the turkey BLT. After looking at the receipt, my wife returned to the cashier to emphasize that I did not want the cream cheese spread on my steak sandwich. This has been a problem at all Panera's because apparently the cash register choices do not match the menu choices for this item. In any case, when the food was delivered, there was some arugula sticking beyond and under the plate which the waitress dragged across the table. Was I supposed to eat that piece of arugula? The sandwich had globs of cream cheese spread. My wife's sandwich was basically a mayonnaise sandwich. She had ordered this many times before and this had never been an issue before. I complained about my sandwich to the cashier who said she would have it re-made. Then someone came out from the kitchen to scold me that the cashier receipt said no combo sauce which referred to the horse radish mustard sauce and not the cream cheese herb sauce. I explained I wanted the horse radish mustard sauce and he went back to remake the sandwich. But by that time my wife had become completely disgusted with her sandwich and we left. We will not be returning to that location. By the way, I did visit the rest room to wash my hands and despite the fact that it is a relatively new building, it was already a pit. read more

I went to Panera with my 2 daughters at 5pm on 9/22/14. I have been to this location several times and have gotten service that varied from excellent to fair. The evening of 9/22 was the worst. When we arrived, there were 2 registers open, one person being served at a register and no one on line. It was 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, despite there being at least 4 employees behind the counter, including a gentleman who appeared to be the manager (or someone in charge). The manager was taking someone's order & when he was done he walked away without saying a word to us, then told 2 different employees to take our order. One came up with an excuse why she couldn't take the order, while the other one ignored us. Finally after standing there for at least 7 minutes total, a woman approached the register & asked if we were ready to order. The Southwest flatbread was awful...it had no taste. Bad service that evening, very bad. I doubt we'll be back. read more

Panera always has your favorite soup, salad, or sandwich. But did you know Panera has a great breakfast? They do bread like nobody's business! Try their bagels, soufflés, and breakfast sandwiches. They even offer vegetarian entrees. The staff is super friendly. The atmosphere is very welcoming. You can hang out and enjoy coffee, a smoothie, or just be with family and friends.
