I absolutely love Panera but this location is the worst I've ever been to. I work in the same plaza that this Panera is located so it's unfortunate that I've had so many bad experiences. On my lunch and dinner breaks, I no longer visit Panera, instead taking my business elsewhere. The service is always slow, items from my order have been left out of my bag multiple times, the staff is never friendly, and I almost ALWAYS have to tell them to put in my phone number for my Panera rewards because they never ask. There have also been a few times that I ended up not getting credit for the rewards because of negligence of the staff claiming they put my phone number in but actually didn't. Just stopped at this new Panera after not having been to a Panera in awhile. I ordered a you pick 2. I got the wrong soup with my order. I went there because I have a cold and I wanted chicken noodle soup. I was given broccoli cheddar. It was a to go order and I am now home. I'm not driving back there to get the correct soup. Came here for a quick bite on the weekend. I got a Chicken Panini and the chicken inside was pretty much translucent and pink on edges. I took it back and told one of the people preparing the food and she said (without even looking at the chicken itself) that she was confident it was cooked and they are just smoked which makes them look like that. While this might have been a plausible explanation, I didn't appreciate how she didn't even bother to examine the chicken itself and there was nooo way I was going to eat raw looking transluscent, spots-of-pink chicken (and I've had that unfortunate experience as well). Their one saving grace was that they refunded my money without much hassle. Also, the cashier had a pretty unwelcoming attitude - no smiles, no greeting, spoke to me in a completely monotone voice and stared at me like I was stupid when I asked her to repeat something she said. This was my favorite coffee and bakery place when I lived in Cary. They have excellent bagels and cream cheeses. Now and then I'll get a dozen to get my team mates fired up in a meeting. It worked like a charm :-). I'll stop there almost every morning coming back from daycare to get coffee. Panera was our jump start on road trips either to the beach or to Columbia to see the Gamecocks play. Usually I get the spinach quiche, 2 butter croissants (one for my little one...that will keep her quiet for half an hour!), a latte and coffee for my mom. Their staff was so friendly. As as soon as I enter the room they'll start working on my latte. I remember Carlos (a feast in itself cause I'm terrible with names...) used to give me extra stamps on my Panera card every now and then...brightening up my day. Anyway I think you got the message. My husband and I go here to get breakfast sometimes on the weekends. We both have our favorite items and they are consistently good. The only complaint I have is my experience as I walk in the front door. The second I do, literally, still standing by the door, I'm asked what they can get for me. Every time. I get it... be attentive... but give me a chance to take a look at your menu!!! I swear, the last time this happened to my husband and I, we left the place after our meal confessing we both almost snapped. This Panera has been my go-to location for the past few years. I have never had any problems with food quality - just customer service and portions. I usually order the same thing - a you pick two roast beef sandwich and Thai chicken salad. I swear the portions used to be twice as big with the salads - this past time I went I thought someone was honestly playing a joke on me because I had a giant salad bowl with half a handful of salad in it. Lame. The sandwiches have been pretty consistent - very good but they could use more filling, well except for red onions - always plenty of those. I got a voucher with my meal for a pasty I could pick out after meal - would have been nice if I could have had someone to help me out with that instead of waiting in line with everyone ordering their meals. If I could speak with the manager directly I would ask them to stop slacking on their portions - filling customers is a better investment that saving a few dollars by shorting meals. I would also ask them to have a refresher on customer service for the staff - it's not bad, just hit or miss. Would make it 4 stars if you brought my food to me and didn't ask me to bus my own table. read more

I think I was burned out going to Panera Bread so often so I have taken about a 6 month break. Overall, I was disappointed with this visit. My order was taken promptly, but then there seemed to be a longer wait than I ever remembered to pick up the food. I ordered the "You Pick Two" which was almost $11 without a drink. (Remember when lunch was about $5)? The side choices were an apple, chips or baguette, and I chose the whole wheat baguette. That was the best part as it came out warm and freshly baked. The Fuji Apple Chicken was OK. The mixed greens were a little wilted and the tomatoes not ripe. The chicken, toasted pecans and cheese and dressing were all good. The Turkey Bacon Bravo half sandwich was not as good as I remembered it. Again, the tomatoes were the tasteless variety we so often get here in the US. The sun dried tomato bread and special mayo was exceptionally good. The turkey, bacon, and bread were fair. I am sure I will go back though... Especially in the fall and winter for the soups. read more

This place saved the day. Needed a cinnamon sugar bagel for my son who was home sick from school. It's kind of tradition when he's sick. Went to another bagel place where I usually get it and they were out. Told me they were making more to come back 1/2 hour and when I came back no one knew anything about them making more. BTW that bagel place was out of most bagels even though it would be open for another 2.5 hours! Disappointed but on the way home saw Panera and thought hmmmm? This location decided not to participate in its company's Veterans Day special. Very disappointing that they don't support our troops. On a side note, the food had very small portions for a large price. Typically, Panera does well with they're food. This time however, the bread bowl had almost no soup in it, the cinnamon roll was dry and the muffin top was strange tasting. Panera Bread the chain has gone done significantly. I remember when the chain, although was pricey, it used to be a clean, friendly service, and great quality of foods. Now I think it's gotten so big that all these factors have gone down. I always wanted a way to order my food on my phone or online and just go pick it up at PB. And they finally created Rapid Pickup! But it is really flawed, especially at this particular location. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS check your food order before you leave here. On Rapid Pickup, if the location doesn't have an item, they won't tell you although you've already been charged for it. And then you have to somehow cut the long line to get a reimbursement or replacement item. It's a hassle. And they don't make your drinks until you've gotten there and again you have to somehow "cut the line" for an order you placed 15 minutes ago. This location is super annoying because they always are running out of an item, but don't know it until you ask "where's my such-and-such"? The staff there is unorganized and a bit frazzled. Love the food at Panera but the service is awful at this location. My salad was missing chicken so it was awkward walking and asking them for chicken to begin with but I did. Instead of quickly fixing the issue and apologies, I got a blank stare and a few moments a paper soup bowl with a chicken was handed over to me. No apologies whatsoever. While I was standing and waiting for my chicken another customer came with the same missing chicken issue. Writing here so the manager takes a notice and fixes the issue. This store really needs to figure out how to better service the line of people coming in the door. Went there this morning (Friday) and the line was going out the door. I've seen this before at this store. The frequent irritating characteristic of this Panera Bread, occurs during the breakfast cycle. They are not ready to serve the full menu when they open. Prep is not complete, the souffle's won't be ready for 15-20 minutes, and the register person is not glad to see anyone! I love going to this panera location during my lunch break. Negative: pricey. Positives: Quick, friendly service, ample parking, tables always available. and I just discovered the 'rapid pick up' feature they have now where you place your order online and they have it sitting ready for you to pick up on a shelf by the door. It's awesome! You already pay for your food online as well so you literally don't have to do anything but go inside, grab the bag of food, and leave. No cash register lines, no nothing! The food at Panera Bread on Darrington Drive in Cary, NC offers excellent service and very good food. I like their new noodle dishes, but also like their soup, salad, and sandwich options. I eat at this location once or twice per month and have never had a meal that I didn't like. If you join the Panera club you periodically get a free drink or cookie, so that's worth doing. I also like that their sweet iced tea isn't too sweet and you can get as many refills as you like. The restaurant is clean and is always busy, but I've never had any trouble finding a seat. They also have outside seating available. They offer online ordering and pickup but I haven't tried using it yet. read more

The girl at the cash register was not friendly. She just stared blankly as she took my order. She was not friendly, and did not ask for MyPanera rewards or if I wanted my receipt at the end. Yes, it was 7am... But you can still manage a "Good morning" and be polite. Also the bagel selection available were very scarce and COLD!! Now it is beyond me why bagels would be cold... when you arrive shortly after a place is open. DON'T bother coming here. Waste of time, money, and lacks friendly service and taste. You're much better off going to Bruegger's which is on the same road. Their service is always superb, no matter how busy it gets. Their employees make you want to come back and their bagels are WARM as they should be if freshly baked. No wonder they have a help wanted sign out.
