I went into Panera Bread today after school my granddaughter and was extremely disappointed by the conditions of the store and the behavior of the staff. The dining room was very dirty, with food all over the floor. The bathroom looked as if it had not been cleaned at all. My granddaughter accidentally dropped her soda near the food pickup area. I notified a staff member, but no one ever came to clean it up. The soda remained on the floor for the entire time we were there. The staff were more focused on talking about their personal lives than paying attention to customers or maintaining a clean environment. I waited for my food while employees stood around socializing. Eventually, a staff member placed food on the counter and called out a name. After several minutes, I had to ask if it was my Italian sandwich, and the worker confirmed that it was. I was standing in spilled soda with my granddaughter in a dining room that was frankly disgusting. This experience was unacceptable and far below what I expect from Panera. Cleanliness and basic customer service were completely lacking. Because of this experience, I do not plan to return to this location. I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed. read more

I was surprised that it was not busy going in for breakfast. Ordered bacon egg cheese on croissant. Had a long wait for our food. When it finally came we began eating. My daughter noticed green dots on the croissant. I notified the manager who told me it was not mold but probably avocado. This was my first visit to this Panera and I must say I was very disappointed. The staff did not seem to really care much in my order or customer service. I ordered something I have gotten often and was informed as the sandwich was being made they could no heat it on the press for allergy reasons (new because I've always gotten the sandwich heated ) if I knew at the register j would have ordered a different sandwich that could be heated on the press instead I was stuck with the sub par sandwich. Stopped here a few times for lunch on road trips between upstate NY and NYC. Plaza has definitely gotten more busy over the years. Being a Panera, expect to pay a bit more for a sandwich and chips. One thing I noticed compared to other Paneras is that there weren't any self serve kiosks or outdoor seating, though could due to the limited space in the plaza. I'm not sure why I gave this place another chance, but we visited again for a bite this year while Black Friday shopping. We arrived right at the breakfast cut-off time and I asked if it was too late to slip one more breakfast order in. My cashier literally walked away while I was mid-sentence and came back after a few minutes to say that no, I could no longer order breakfast. Which, I get it that rules are rules. But walking away from me while I was speaking was really rude...not even a "hey, let me just check, one moment." Nope, just walked away. I ended up ordering half a sandwich for myself, and a kids meal for my daughter, which came with a yogurt. I dined with two other people. My food didn't come until my companions were done eating, and when it finally did, the yogurt was missing and replaced with a piece of baguette(???). I was too annoyed at that point to send it back. I had to inhale my food because we were running behind at that point since I'd waited so long for my food. And the cherry on top? Two out of three of us ended up with stomach aches after eating here. I love the food at Panera. However, I have never gone to the Middletown location and been satisfied with my order or experience, and today was honestly the final straw. I can completely understand being busy or short staffed, but my order has been wrong almost every time, and today, half of my order was missing from my bag. I have done mobile orders, and had to wait 25 minutes after my pick up time only to find out that the food was ready and sitting out next to the bagel slicer because they didn't have the bagel I ordered. Instead of calling me or anything, they literally left it there and moved on to other orders. That time, there was also a very pregnant woman who had been waiting even longer for her take out. It is not an exaggeration to say that every single time I have gone in, something has gone wrong or been messed up It's unfortunate because as I said, I generally enjoy eating at Panera.
