Not something I'd go out of my way for, but fine if you're craving soup. The Caesar salad, however, was yummy as always. I added onions, which gave it a nice extra crunch and flavor and definitely made it the highlight of the meal. Panera had gone down hill. Ordered a pick 2. My BLT add avocado was a sad looking sandwich with 3 wilty, skinny pieces of bacon and a small blob of avocado (which I payed extra for). My cup of soup, sick is already tiny want even filled up. It is no longer worth the money ($35 for two pick 2s no drinks. Only thing extra was the avocado). Food is pretty decent, but anytime you ask for any thing like butter for the bread or silverware they completely ignore you. You have to check your order as soon as you pull away from the drive-through. We pulled our order out and sure enough nothing we asked for was in the bag. I ordered delivery from the web portal. It's easy to click through and pay, they even text you updates. The issue, my order came and it was totally wrong. Missing items and wrong sandwich that looked like it was dropped on the floor and mashed back together then wrapped in paper. I tried calling the location to let them know of missing items and poor quality but the phone just rang that night. I used to order often but this experience will keep me from going back. Every time we go to this location the dining room is dirty! I'm talking hours since anyone touched the dirty dishes, cleaned off tables, swept the floor. It was disgustingly dirty!! The person who took our order laid on the register while talking to us! We then shared with them that the Ice tea was empty. This store is always out of bread, even early in the day, seems like an issue with management.

My husband and I come here once a week, and we question every week why we come here! They are always out of hazelnut coffee and we always have to ask for the half and half to be refilled. Often they are very slow in their kitchen and today our sandwiches sat on the shelf but no name was attached or called. No one in the kitchen seemed to know who the food belonged to even though we knew it was ours. It sat there for over 5 minutes until we asked again and they had to go look it up. Great Food! However, they didn't have any clean tables. Looks like they all just sit back in the kitchen and never come out on the floor to clean. Like every table had crumbs and drink cup marks. Ordered a Lentil Quinoa Bowl with Chicken. A young lady (who was not the cashier) handed me a dirty bag with dirty gloves still on in the drive thru. Then when I looked in the bag and saw it was a different container I pulled it out to look at it. She slid the window open and said "Is something wrong?" I explained that I was confused by the container. She told me THAT is what I ordered. She then shut the window before saying another word and before I left. Ordered the bacon/spinach soufflé -- about the size of your palm, pastry was cooked incorrectly so only the edges were barely pouffed up and the rest was pastry goo and tough-tough-tough! One piece of bacon was literally some kind of horrible gristle - honest - hard, no taste and impossible to chew. The cheese tasted rancid. While this has been a regular lunch stop for many years, I tend to find myself craving the French onion soup in the bread bowl. They make the perfect bread for this dish. With the soup I typically order a half sandwich. Every sandwich I have had is really good. I wish they offered a larger variety of sides, because they always ask if I want chips or bread on the side. The menu is versatile - teas and coffees for those who are meeting a colleague; a full menu for those who need to refuel on a lunch break; and endless pastries and bagels that don't need breakfast as an excuse. And don't forget their new Panera rewards card - which means at least one free drink or pastry a month just for showing up. I am willing to admit I have a generalized disdain for Panera Bread that is not dissimilar from the one I have towards Starbucks. Much of this has to do with intangibles as much as it does with service or food and beverage quality. Employees, managers, and even most patrons tend to ooze out an aura of pretentiousness that seems to activate the "fight or flight" mechanism within my brain. While this personal phenomenon is neither here nor there for the purposes of this review, I think it is worth noting. In short, I get annoyed even walking through the front door of these places. This particular location is not far from the major mall and shopping district of the area, so I was a little surprised they were not more busy when we stopped in about 1 in the afternoon. The Chipotle down the street (Mom's first choice) had a line almost out the door. If you have been to any Panera location in your life, and chances are high that if you are reading this you have, this place will serve as an exact replica. Everything from the display cases, to the quasi-artistic overhead menus, to the cheesy wall decorations will be instantly familiar. As for the staff? The clerks with a smile that looks like it was permanently affixed via plastic surgery are here too. *Sigh* Let's all get in a drum circle after lunch and throw on some Yanni... I am not going to spend a great deal of time on the food here since, once again, there is very little variation to what I (or likely, you) have seen before. I had a turkey avocado club sandwich, and while it is was decent, it was just, I dunno, dull. In the continued efforts of this chain to be "artisan", their menu has just become bland and uninspired. They really need to reinvent themselves as a business in my humble opinion, unless serving 20 something hipsters and geriatrics looking for their discount on the half sandwich and soup combo is their sole ambition as a growth strategy. There is about a 100% probability that I will return to this location again, as it is a big hit with my Mother. Similarly, it is highly popular with my coworkers back in Chicago during group lunches. This is one of my favorite Paneras. The employees are always friendly. They never mess my order up (which at times can be complicated), and you really can't beat the prices. When you dine inside you will never see a dirty table or floor. They're so clean, which is refreshing for a Mom. You can download the Panera app and order/pay so you're in an out, or even go online. They also have their full menu and nutritional information listed. In the summer time I recommend the strawberry chicken salad. Now that it's fall I tried the Ancient Grain, Arugula, Chicken Salad and it's fantastic! I hope it's not seasonal and is a year round menu item. It was supposed to be a grilled Mac n cheese and it wasn't grilled at all, just regular pieces of bread and there was hardly anything in the middle. As you can see, the sandwich looks nothing like the picture on the menu. For the price you pay, this is ridiculous. The other item I ordered was the new pepperoni pizza flatbread and there was hardly any cheese on it and the pepperoni was all slid over to one side. 40 hywy and 291 in Independence, Mo. (3:30 7/8) 1- I am disabled and parked right by the front door in the 1st handicap spot. After I ordered, I asked if someone could help me get the order outside. She asked which space I was in and I showed her the very first space by the door. It was parked right next to the empty pick up order space. She looked and said no they couldn't help me. I suppose it is a policy but since they were not busy with a pick up order it would have been nice to have helped me. 2-They left out the chips from our order 3- The sandwich was put into the bag up side down so when we picked it up, it unwrapped and the whole sandwich it all spilled out onto the floor. So we were not happy customers of Panera. The food was good tho. Then when I tried to email them by filling out their form, they would't accept the form due to they needed a store #. I was informed the morning of the delivery (today) that they didn't have a specific type (grilled ?) turkey available, and could I accept a substitute. No problem, roasted turkey is fine. I called Panera to check on the status, and was told that they forgot about it but it was being delivered now - approx. 45 minutes late, and after some staff get to take their lunch break.
