Disappointed. Panera Bread used to be a high value Italian-like establishment with a wide variety of custom and tasty old-style vitals. Today, the menu is made to suit the palette of South-of-the-Border: holding only a salads, Mexican soups, and fruity spritzers. The frontega sandwich which used to be good, was served to me - as my receipt shows clearly - WITHOUT the smoked chicken! THEY DID NOT HAVE THE USUAL. The cheese, which used to be a delicious Gouda, is now a nondescript, sub-par toothpasty mozzarella without any flavor.. Panera has lost its competitive advantage. Bring back Gouda! If the smoked chicken is being sold; you should have it (you didn't) and when I walked in during lunch the breakfast menu was still up. Ambience is okay but now the sandwiches are bland. Watch: Yelp will take down my review, citing my taste buds are 'fake buds'! I got a strawberry poppy seed salad with chicken and it looked and tasted old. It definitely wasn't freshly made. I've gotten it many times and know what it's supposed to look like. Smaller portion too! I didn't even eat the chicken. It smelled a little funny. The lettuce was scarce and some of it was brown. I threw most of it out. The pineapple was totally missing. I got take out so I couldn't ask them to fix it. The baguette was fresh. Taking this place off my lunch list. I do like their bacon, egg and cheese on ciabatta breakfast sandwich but they also no longer have spinach which was a favorite. Bummer! Super expensive for subpar food. I do like a bit of Panera from time to time, but this branch is a bit substandard. We stopped in for dinner a few days ago. I was surprised to see they only had 2 digital ordering kiosks. The branch near me house back home has 6. Our party was pretty big so it took a while to order. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and the staff seemed pretty nice, but I was disappointed to see my order was wrong. I ordered a Greek salad with some add ins and with no cheese or dressing and wound up getting both cheese and dressing. I then had to walk it back and explain the issue. The prep staff got a bit terse about it, like I'm supposed to eat the wrong food or something. But they wound up making me another. I got like 15 different ingredients in my original order and when they asked me to tell them the correct order, they rushed me thru because they were busy with other orders. My salad wound up being OK. Some ingredients really sucked though. The quinoa I added in was actually quinoa and rice which was fridge leftover cold and hard, also they wound up missing a few items like the olives and pickled peppers. I didn't feel like going back again to let them know however. Regarding non food elements, the dining area was good and tidy but the men's bathroom was pretty dirty and it had water and paper towels on the floor. They could have done a better job. Panera is a pretty standard fast food place that makes you think it's not fast good because of the nice decor indoors. I ordered takeout from here last week, and I'll start with the good: I was very impressed with the contactless pickup. I ordered and paid online for ASAP pickup, put a description of my car, and when I drove up, I wasn't waiting in line for more than 45 seconds when an employee (wearing a mask) ran up with my order, and I was off! The order was perfect with no items missing or incorrect. Now to the less-good: the food is really just so-so, which is something I feel bad saying because there's not much that can really be done for that in a national chain where most of the condiments etc are mass produced. I ordered a you-pick-2 of the Thai chicken salad and a chicken noodle soup. The salad had fresh ingredients, and the dressing was just a sweet spicy sticky chili sauce and a peanut sauce (Thai). The chicken is what it has always been-- seems like thawed cooked chicken pieces. But again, I feel badly saying that because there's not much they can do. The chicken noodle soup was good because it tasted deliciously salty, kind of like from a can. But that's what I wanted so I'm not upset about that. What I AM upset about is it was $5 for broth, a few chunks of chicken, and a few noodles. I suppose that's on me, though, since I essentially chose to order something for $5 that I could've gotten for $1.50 at the grocery store. The chocolate chipper cookies are amazing. My wife is a fan of eating lunch at Panera bread. She particularly likes the options of a half sandwich with soup. I have to admit their soups are absolutely delicious. I like going to this location. Great friendly staff who actually took the time to know my name and what a like to order.... I am a creature of habit. The manager Max has gone above and beyond to make things right on the rare occasions where my orders got messed up. The counter staff are friendly... I get a kick each time I get up to the counter and Adam is standing next to Adam. I've come to name them Adam#1 (taller of the two) and Adam#2 As far as fast food or chain restaurants go I like panera above the rest. I usually order the Chicken Tortellini Alfredo and or Black Bean soup which is only served on Tuesday, Thursday during the week. I also like the Soba Noodle Bowl. My cousin had the worst experience of her life here... She ordered the cheddar and steak panini without the pickled onions and with light mayo. (Weird, but good.) Anyway, it started off all good. Perfect even. As she chomped down on the sandwich, it went down smooth, but there was a price to pay. (Not including the outrageous prices of the restaurant itself.) Hours later, she felt her stomach rumble and knew it was more than a rumble. What started as just a faint rumble morphed into something brown, runny, and chunky. She found herself on and off the toilet throughout the evening hours. Missed dinner, had to eat a light breakfast, and had to continue to suffer for the whole next day. After an extensive google search and advice from family members, we came to a conclusion. FOOD POISONING! (Mild case ofc.) Later that day, the regret from eating that sandwich hit especially hard as she regurgitated and had to spit it out. Imagine how much of your dignity and time is lost spent bent over the porcelain throne. Moral of the story is, everyone deserves an experience that they enjoy when visiting Panera Bread and similar franchises. The other lesson that can be learned is to not order the steak and cheddar panini from Panera. Order a salad instead. Had the worst restaurant experience of our lives at this Panera last week. Staff are nice but the long time manager is brutally crude. My wife was being sexually harassed outside the restaurant and was trying to find me inside the Panera. Manager screamed at her to get out because she wasn't wearing a mask. Ordered online for the first time which is very convenient. Our order was complete and waiting for me 15 minutes later when I arrived. The butternut squash soup is a favorite, only wish they had it year round instead of just in autumn. Only complaint is the Italian sandwich. Very stingy on the meat for the price. I usually enjoy Panera for a quick easy lunch, but this location is by far the worst. The main problem here is who i think is the MANAGER. I've been to this location multiple times and have had a few different negative experiences with his. He's an older, tall man with facial hair. He is always very rude and can be seen yelling at the employees in front of customers. This last time, I ordered a bowl of the chicken noodle soup. To start, it was $7 for a bowl that was barely half 1/3 full. Horrible. And then halfway through eating it I found to be what looked like a bug. My mom called this man, the manager, over to the table. He proceeded to give a scowl and make his way over as if he was annoyed. I then pointed out the mysterious item in my soup and he just stared at it and said " what do you think it is" as if he was waiting to see and decide if he agreed or not. I said i thought it was a bug, and then he stared at it some more and said "no it looks like maybe a stem" with a nasty tone....As if he was trying to ARGUE with us. With the biggest stinky attitude ever, he then offered to replace OR refund it. With absolutely no recognition of it or apology what so ever. Any decent manager would be apologetic regardless of what he thought about it - even though it was clearly not a stem. I decided to replace it since I was still hungry. I also pointed out how the bowl came out about 1/3 full and he fought back saying that's the usual amount given. Sick of arguing with this horrible man who obviously doesn't value his customers and business, I just brushed it off and replaced it. we ordered a pickup order today the food is tasty but when you order soup with a piece of baguette for $7 along with a bowl of chili and baguette for $8 you should get a piece of bread that is larger than a tangerine, even in the past when we ate inside we would complain and were told that the manager keeps it so small. As has been mentioned they only fill the bowl about 1/3 when you eat in, complaining may get you another ounce if you happen to get an understanding server. As other's have said the manager is rude and not at all friendly, perhaps he is the franchiser and does not care, just give me your money and get out. I was driving through the Capital Region with a coworker and we got hungry and this Panera was convenient. We got there, and it was much busier than we thought it would be at a 1:15pm on a Monday. Despite the long line (there were about 10 people ahead of us), we ordered within 5 minutes of arrival and got our food about 5 minutes later. The service was good, professional and efficient. This Panera location is always very busy, but has fast service at the same time. Usually there is more than one register open, so that shows that they have the appropriate amount of staff on. I have always gotten my order made correctly and in a reasonable amount of time. I have never gotten any raw/cold food. however the only negative thing I could say about this specific Panera location is the management. Often times you see more then one manager on at a time, which you'd think was a good thing at first because if anything goes wrong the managers would be able to handle it - it's the complete opposite. Your more likely to be given fast friendly service by a employee wearing an apron and visor then a manager wearing a button up. read more
