Traveling back from an event over the weekend we got off the thruway and stopped at the Mid Way Cafe. It's located on a dark stretch of 9W between Ravena and Selkirk. Looking for a diner like venue, it's exactly what we found. Ordered my usual (Buffalo Chicken Wrap) which came with really good French fries, side of coleslaw and a pickle. Stood up to the expectation of a wrap from the diner. Wrap was fresh with a lot of chicken, lettuce and tomatoes. Fries were crispy outside lovely soft inside. I didn't care for the slaw, but might be my taste buds. Desserts are available but we did pass on them. Parking lot is spacious enough, staff were pretty nice for being so close to closing and food was good. read more

What a great small cafe / diner HUGE menu stoped in for a early dinner and the place was packed with local and to go orders that's when you know the food is going to be good!! Monica served our drinks quickly and kept checking on us until we were ready and thought out the meal Fried mushroom apps crispy and served with tomato sauce SOD was creamy crab and was hot and yummy Homemade Greek salad dressing and they also sell it in mason jars for you to bring home Cheese burger with lots of wedge fries No soggy buns or fries just the way it should be. The food was good, honest food. The atmosphere was very clean and homey. Service was stellar. She wrapped our desserts for us and was accommodating when we added a few items to take out after our dine-in meal. Where else can you get Soup, Salad, Entree, Two Sides, Dessert and Coffee for under $20!? It was my first time there, but I'll definitely go back. They don't accept credit or debit cards, only cash. My husband and I just moved to town so we decided to try this place. It's very small town and felt like we were back in time. Not a bad thing though: everyone seemed to know each other and the wait staff were very friendly. It is cash only. I got the farmers hot plate (forgot the actual name) which was home-fries, sautéed mushrooms and onions with sausage gravy and eggs on top. It was a heaping portion and very tasty for only 7.95. My husband got the French toast and they used some of the thickest bread possible. It came with a choice of meat, fried potatoes and eggs. He was very happy with his meal. Recently went here with 2 others. The menu was extensive and all items available except waffles. ( our arrival was after 2pm.) bacon cheeseburger was delicious. Literally Mid Way to know where in particular we stumbled across this out dated country cafe. The staff was friendly enough. Coffee was fresh enough, and the food was good enough. I had the sausage and Swiss omelette with a side of sausage came with home fries and toast. My daughter got the biscuits and gravy. Ok, I was skeptical walking in here. It's very old school diner look - which you never know how that will work out. However, the food is REALLY good diner food! Big menu, dinner specials that are a great value - comes with entree, salad, soup, coffee and desert. Great prices, great food, and fast, no-nonsense service. I'm a fan of the Mid Way Cafe. This is what every diner should strive for. The service is very warm, fast, and friendly; the waitress made us feel like regulars. The food was tasty, portions are generous, coffee is good, and it's clear the locals love it here. All the desserts are homemade, and I swear they had roughly 15 options... from puddings to pies, cakes and ice cream. The menu is extensive, and I'll definitely be back to try their breakfast options. Did I mention the prices? They're practically giving the food away. Its so nice to find a low key cafe that's a neighborhood staple and continues to put out some heartwarming and delicious food, no matter how simple. Located a bit a ways from Albany, Mid Way Cafe is a cafe off the road where you'll find locals and a very extensive menu that includes not only your usual suspects of breakfast and burgers but also a variety of ethnic cuisine. I just went with an omelette and it was really good, cheesy, and warming. The service here is awesome as well and the prices make for a great value. Would definitely recommend. I have no idea how this Cafe does so well and attracts so many customers the first time I went there we were greeted rudely asked for a booth and just wanted coffee and a piece of pie which seemed to upset them and we got our coffee and a very tiny piece of pie like a ridiculously small piece of pie and the inside was very very disgusting I even had a bug crawl across the table and I did not say anything because I was embarrassed that is a place I will never eat again I haven't since I've tried it the first time warning go at own risk. read more

This is the kind of cheap and reasonably decent place a collection of seniors and other regulars, in various states from chipper to broken, come every day. I rate the ambiance so high only because of how likable these regulars are. I had the taco salad. It was crisp and fresh, and some of the iceburg was still in large hunks you can't eat with a fork. The salsa was out of a jar. Pepsi, no Coke. Service probably was overtaxed and was difficult to flag down at times. There was a poor dead baby bird in the scant landscaping out front. Came here while in the area for work. Staff was friendly, you already know you aren't coming here for the ambiance so hopefully the food hits home. Here we go with another long essay for yelp. I was up in the town of coeymans for a speeding ticket, won't get into it So I am about two hours from home and I'm hungry !! I'm looking for a quick way before heading back. Yes yelp does impact my decision of where I'm going, because reviews are written by needy people like me! (Evidence, me writing this one now). I open the app and Mid Way had the most stars and it was just a few minutes further than the others. So I said F it, let's try it. The place from outside is what I guess a small town dinner looks like. Parking lot was gravel n wasn't marked lol. This is a town place, a place where the locals go to. I didn't know that. Now I know, and if you read this, you'll know it too. THIS IS A LOCAL DIVE. I walked and I'm so used to being told to wait to be seated, here you sit yourself. The place isn't decorated by some eccentric owner, the place has no decor, it has a local paper article on a frame, and a few pictures of the staff. That's it. This place is a no fuzz place, you go there to eat and leave. Great cause that is what I wanted. The staff isn't used to new faces, mine was totally unknown! So they seemed tentative, I was too Cause I wasn't sure what to do next! So I do not blame them. I sat at the counter. The waitress was pleasant and got down to business. I got some orange juice, that was good, can't mess that up, it's simple. I have learned when you go to an unknown location to get what they consider their "classic", or "home special", because if they claim that this dish is there best then if that sucks, don't come back. I got the Mid Way house omelette, it had chorizo, jalapeños, cheese and peppers. It was sooooo good. I got it with rye toast. The lady told me it had seeds, I'm not fuzzy and have no allergies, I guess she guessed she should ask since she had never seen me, so that was nice. It was a good portion. I liked it. Worth the try if you are up here paying a speeding ticket! They don't take credit cards, again this info I got from yelp and a quick call to confirm, don't assume anything when going to a new place. Not every place is gonna bend over backwards for you. On another note, when I walked in and was uncertain of where to sit or to flee, I caught a glimpse of the cook and he was South American gene pool. I guessed Mexican, and that sealed the deal for me, to come this far and find a Mexican cook is a sign for me that the food is going to be great. I think Mexicans are some of the best cooks, this guys have one so I see why they get such good reviews on their food. Even though I don't think they care about yelp reviews. (Some one should tell them how good theirs are) Their atm has a dial up! There are no TVs either . Come eat, pay and go home. read more

Food was tasty and service was good & friendly. However, bathroom was filthy as I had to line toilet seat with paper from dried up pee and there was pee around the toilet. Item seated in corner of rest room was thickly covered in dust. Bathroom didn't appear to be well kept. That's a biggie for me. If bathrooms are filthy more than likely the kitchen is questionable. If the bathroom was kept nicer/cleaner this would have been a 4/5 star rating. read more

I LOVE the Midway Café! I eat there whenever I'm hungry and don't feel like cooking at home. I offend get together with friends and we'll get hungry and want to eat out....and we all agree on the Midway Café without thinking twice. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner all the meals are fantastic. And the desserts are all homemade and to "die for". The waitress greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly hello....plus quick service and attention to our needs. All us locals go there and are proud to be lucky enough to have the diner in our town.
