Really good breakfast! French toast was perfect-soft and light but cooked through. Nice & speedy service. Easy to digest prices.

Plan on stopping at the New Baltimore rest stop for refueling your belly and brain? Well, so did ten thousand other grubby, smelly, weary travelers. Screw that. I tried that, but I kept on truckin' after I assessed the crowd and lack of solid food options at the New (um, stale) Baltimore rest area. Thanks to Yelp, Betty was the bright flame and this truckin' traveler was the weary moth flapping his wings through NY. A greasy spoon, a hot cup of joe and a little boop-oop-a-doop go a long way for a man who foregoes breakfast on the last leg of an 1800 mile road trip. Betty's breakfast boop (Betty Boop theme prevails throughout the resturant) is off the toll road, which may be inconvenient for some, but is much better than a rest stop that had unloaded two busses and was home to an oddly placed farmers market. Betty's held a steady crowd, but we were seated immediately and the food came quickly. We both opted for the Greek omelette special that came with potatoes and toast. While the omelette was a wee bit heavy on feta, I have to admit that it was the freshest and tastiest omelette that I'd enjoyed along my 1800 mile journey. The potatoes were surprisingly flavorful and were quite possibly the best breakfast potatoes I've had in some time. The portion sizes are larger than they appear in the photo, but I told my belly to man up and I managed to clear the plate. Verdict: good food, good service...a-boop-oop-a-doop!

It is a local diner. Locals eat there. The food quality is as good as it should be. If on the Thruway or are a local, not a bad option.

My family spent several days at a rental home a mile or so from Gracie's and, naturally, had to…read moregive the local diner a try. Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

Pleasantly surprised by this adorable roadside "diner" type of restaurant Gracie's Luncheonette…read more Very clean, fresh flowers on the tables, views of a huge stream and forest. Service was very friendly. We loved the avocado toast, the burger sliders, the tuna melt and the house made sodas! The food was fresh and you could tell it was made with care. Both tables and bar seating available. Plus they have a nice selection of beer!

Truly transcendent mexican food with a focus on innovation and local flair driven by Hudson valley…read moreingredients. The space is beautiful, ingredients are all fresh and outstanding, and there's clearly a love for the spot from everyone working at Casa Susanna. The cocktail menu is unique and fun. Yes you could get a margarita, but everything on the menu is so interesting from Raicilla drinks to Carajillos, there's so much to love. The space feels like a film set and you need to make sure you get a reservation so you can enjoy rather than sitting outside or at the bar. Surprisingly reservations were harder to come by than expected the weekend I was there. The dishes are all great, with the Duck being my standout dish, just perfectly cooked and really exemplifying the beauty of Hudson Valley + Mexican cuisine. The tetela was also a real standout despite the simplicity of the dish. It leaned into good mexican food, withou ttrying to do too much. Each and every cocktail was fun and good! We'll be back, but not too often. The prices are high, and match the quality of the ingredients, but at $100 a person or more, it was not cheap.

Since they are already finalists, according to James Beard, I'll spend this review explaining more…read morewhy I only gave it three stars. The food in general was well prepared, delicious and certainly had a sophisticated knowledge of spicing in flavoring. But it's more the minor details that stops an experience from being a really wonderful one. So here are some details, you may think I'm crazy or you may relate. The first was coffee: they didn't have decaf and they don't have half-and-half. I'm not going to speculate why, but for quite a few of us decaf is a true pleasure and it'd be nice to have that available. To the waitresses credit she offered to bring me milk and cream, so I could make my own half-and-half? That was a first! The second was the hot chocolate: the actual hot chocolate was quite delicious, Mexican style with some cinnamon. But it was topped with a mountain of whipped cream and some small crunchy pieces. I think it's pretty standard nowadays that when you're going to top a drink like that the staff tends to ask whether you like whipped cream or not. I really dislike whipped cream so had to scoop all that stuff off. The next one was just simply funny: when you're ordering a side order of eggs, one option they list on the menu is a sunny side up egg, one of the other options is to have a "fried egg". I asked the waitress what exactly a fried egg was, she didn't know. She asked the chef, and apparently they didn't know either. So I ordered it over easy, hoping that was doable, but I just got a sunny side up egg instead. And lastly, was the ambience: the space is quite nice and comfortable, but if you're sitting in the outer ring near the windows and it's a very cold winter day (which it was when we ate) expect to be cold in there. They kindly offered to hang our coats, but I had to keep mine on the whole time. Maybe if the insulation and heating system is unable to keep up, you bring in a couple space heaters for the day?

The service was done in a way that I like the most which is professional very nice very knowledgeable, but also not overbearing. The food was excellent: we experimented with two appetizers, the roasted carrots that were very generous and very delicious, and a white trout dip that was fresh and also very delicious. I love seafood so very excited to get fresh seafood here! For the main I had a grilled black bass that was incredible, cooked to perfection. My wife had one of their vegetarian offerings - a zucchini pasta - that was also very flavorful. The portions were so generous that we didn't have room for dessert, but we did spy the cheesecake at the table next to ours which looked yummy and also a very generous portion. All in all a terrific restaurant, and I'd be thrilled to go back again.

My husband ordered Mike frites and they were very good. Frites even came with some homemade aioli I had the fried chicken on a bed of mash. But they should serve mash in the side as the Chicken got soggy. It was all well prepared and tasty. We really wanted a side of cooked greens.
