New spot is in Ravena. Big,open and clean. Much better than the old spot in Coxsackie. Very friendly staff too. I'm a local and am very happy with the food,service,and the staff. Clean. For a small town diner,it's a good place to eat. I've had several dishes so far,and no complaints yet. Ravena is about two square miles and Marcos could make it anywheres in the county. It may not look like much from the outside, and OK, maybe even the inside. Is it old with its dated red tile floors and window air conditioning? Maybe it is. But when I look for a place to eat I always look for three very basic characteristics: Cleanliness, fresh well prepared food; and friendly attentive service. Marco's meets all the above criteria. Unlike many other places, the condiment containers in the baskets were actually clean, the tables weren't sticky, and no flies buzzed me while I ate. Perfect. The customers are regulars. So regular, in fact, that they'll get up and answer the phone if the waitress is busy. It's so nice to find something different from the usual franchises. What a delicious surprise in this small town! The best diner food I've had in a LONG time. It's snuggled in right next to Stewart's gas/convenience store. You'll enter a small narrow place with approximately eight? beaten up small booths (seat 4 avg adults each) and four stools at a short counter. The place was clean. No music. The walls have some items and record albums to look at on the walls. They have a typical diner menu. The diner was NOT busy when we were there for a late dinner but there were a couple of small families when we arrived. There was one waitress and she was very nice and efficient. I ordered the hot reuben sandwich with fries and unsweetened iced tea. Hub ordered a hot open turkey sandwich with gravy and a side of sweet potato fries along with a Dr. Pepper. Kid had the chicken tenders and water with no ice. I hesitated ordering the reuben sandwich because it could just go so badly. My reuben came with fries, some coleslaw and a pickle spear. The reuben was so perfect... I closed my eyes and literally moaned. The meat was tender, the bread was toasty and there was just the right amount of Russian dressing (I was given a choice when I ordered). This is funny I know, but I have been craving a good reuben for such a long time but every time I've ordered it in other places it was barely edible! My fries were a bit oily but were crispy coated and tasty. My iced tea was a bit diluted. I admit I gobbled up the generously sized sandwich and the coleslaw, had a bite of the somewhat crispy pickle and left most of the fries though due to lack of stomach space. Hub reported that his hot open turkey sandwich was very good. It really looked delicious... smothered with thick gravy and smelled good. The sweet potato fries were crispy and we were both impressed because it's easy for sweet potato fries to be mushy. My daughter actually ate the chicken tenders (no fries ordered). This is the greatest endorsement you could get. The pickiest eater, in the town at least, ate the food! This means the tenders were flavorful but not too flavorful, moist but not too moist... Were probably breaded during the correct phase of the moon... And the waitress didn't even bat an eyelash when my daughter ordered "water with no ice." This place is a place to go to when you want to focus on just the loved ones you're eating with. No frills. The way it should be most of the time in my opinion. The food we ordered was very good and based on other reviews online, this is typical. Near the end of our very late dinner, we had a chance to see the owner and his family relaxing in the restaurant. They seem to be very nice and the waitress seems to be a long time employee from what I could tell. The only reason I didn't give a full five stars is due to the state of the booths. The cushion was ripped and our bench actually moved a lot when my husband leaned forward. Repairs needed. So, if you don't want to cook dinner (or another meal), go here. No fuss and you get great food. Prices were good too. Great family place where you can relax and eat. I don't know if I would eat here if I were in a rush. The food is good but the service is HORRIBLE! I went here for breakfast on a Sunday and it was pretty busy. The waitress asked me what I would like to drink and I replied coffee and asked for Splenda. She gave me so much attitude that I left and will never return. Which is a shame because I was a regular. The waitress had brown hair and I wish I knew her name. Way to improve this restaurant is firing her.
