This is one of our favorite places! It's great for a quick bite to eat or hang out as long as you'd like. The menu has typical bar food, Moosearella sticks (named after the owner Moose who is also the mayor of Ravena), wings, wraps, burgers, etc. The food is great and the prices you can't beat. It has a very different appearance but you feel at home. The bar has taxidermy animals mounted but if you're okay with that you will love the place. Everyone is super friendly. Moose, the owner, is very welcoming along with his wife Jena who tends bar and waitresses. This place you could even bring your kids in for lunch, it's a family place not just a bar. The bar has been open for over 100 years and has hosted benefits, motorcycle rides, and even a high school senior picnic. I highly recommend this place. Check it out!

Half way between heaven and Coeymans!

Halfway House? More like Half Star House. The decor was dated. Food was sub par. Clientele was very loud and spewing profanity.

It is right on the river and reminded me of the many Jersey shore seafood houses on the bays and ocean. The service was excellent, sharing information about the meals, answering questions, and assisting with my dietary needs (GF and DF). My husband, brother and sister-in-law tried the calamari as that's what they're known for. They said it did not disappoint. It was crispy, tender, not greasy and not too heavily breaded. The different sauces you can get on the side are delicious as well and add a unique touch to a simple dish. Dinner was amazing. I had the broiled seafood trio that was absolutely delectable. Tender white fish, perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp. The focus was on the seafood and not trying to overdo the sauces. It was a simple lemon white wine sauce that was delicious and made me want to go back. My husband had a lobster roll which was enormous and he said it was one of the best he's had. The rest of the table had fish and chips and Baja tacos which were all delicious. The fish and chips were not overly breaded or greasy, the fries were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The Baja tacos were refreshing with a lovely cilantro lime slaw. Of course the birthday boy had key lime pie for dessert because life is too short not to. He said it was light, creamy and perfectly tart. We can't wait to go back!

The clam bake was off their specials menu which they had a full list of. It's a primarily a seafood restaurant but there's definitely something for everyone. The large outdoor seating area overlooks the beautiful Hudson River, making it the perfect place to relax while watching boats cruise by, water skiers in action, or simply enjoying the peaceful waterfront views. There's also a spacious gazebo-style seating area that's perfect for taking pictures. If outdoor dining isn't your thing, there's plenty of comfortable indoor seating as well. The menu features classic American favorites, occasional prime rib specials, weekly specials, and a full bar. During my visit, we ordered the fish and chips with onion rings to share. The fish was light, flaky, and perfectly crispy, and the fries were delicious. The only thing I would change is that the onion rings seemed to have extra salt sprinkled on them. They were still good, but I'd prefer to season them myself. For dessert, we tried the lemon cake and the strawberry cake. Both were absolutely delicious! I personally can't eat strawberries, so be sure to check out my video for the live dessert tasting. This is definitely going into my regular summer rotation--especially on evenings when they have live music or a band playing. "We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

Shared an OG Chicken Sandwich $13. It was buttermilk fried chicken with tomato and lettuce on a roll. Sandwich was pretty tasty. Service was just average. Otherwise, I would've given it four stars. Only a few people appear to have ordered food here. Basically, the place appears to be a watering hole. Only app.metered parking in the area.
