The food is pretty fresh, there are plenty of healthy options, and there is a good overall vibe at Panera. Overall I do like Panera quite a bit, but I can't give more than three stars. It's a chain, it's predictable, and I think its a tad bit overpriced for what it is. I love Panera ! First time and last time at this particular location. It's huge! Prime location ! Can't believe how incompetent the staff is. I walked in at 12:30.. average lunch time the place has people in it but not nearly as packed as I expected.. Red flags should've have gone off in my head !! Instead of turning around , I continued towards the kiosk. Keep in mind there weren't any lines at the counter , but I have my favorites set and saved so figured it would be quicker to click and order myself . WRONG Kiosk was out of pagers. The screen kept asking "are you done" while looking for a staff member the screen closed out and I had to restart . Now there was a line forming at the counter - so I Got the screen up again , went to reorder on the kiosk .. tried to get an employee's attention. She completely ignored me , didn't even acknowledge me. So I spoke louder and more firm to make a statement that I know she heard me , repeated myself that the kiosk is out of pagers so I can't complete my order in which she replied "I know" and continued to clean the trays ... um.. can you stop doing that and assist me please ? No.. she didn't . She continued to do her trays while I kept clicking for more time at the kiosk . Another woman next to me was doing the same . Finally she brought over one pager . S.O.L to the woman next to me . The place wasn't packed , where were all the pagers ? Finally I went to sit down. Took my computer out , a different employee approaches me and asks "what soup did you order" I asked her why she was asking me this question , no excuse me - no sorry to bother you - just random "what soup did you order" I answered , she then tells me she's out of that soup - so I looked at her till she said "what else would you like". Well... "is there anything else you're out of too, what are my other options?" - she didn't know . I ordered the chicken soup instead . A guy brings out my chicken soup , walking with the tray in one hand, as he's placing it down almost spills it .. it spills over the bowl on to the plate wetting the grilled cheese sandwich I ordered , great soggy sandwich for the win! As I go to eat I realize there's no silverware . Am I supposed to eat with my hands ? So now I have to either pack up my computer , or leave it unattended and walk over and ask for a spoon to eat my soup with. Let's talk about the chicken soup . One word : Gross. Lukewarm broth , the chicken was crumbling mushy white floating in the broth .. what even is that? Isn't even comparable to van soup. Sad to say Progresso and Campbell's are better than what this Panera tried to pass off as chicken noodle soup. I might be a little understanding if it was packed , but I'm sitting in a section of 7 tables - including myself there's 3 people here , the other side has a few more people .. it's really not that busy. Stopped by this location last night and ordered a large Mac and cheese and a brownie, the Mac and cheese comes with bread that they usually give but the girl at the window that just took my money really just grabbed the bread with her hands with NO GLOVES!! DISGUSTING! How could you touch money and then have the nerve to touch peoples food with your bare hands that you did not even wash?!? My salad orders have been messed up on several occasions - how hard is it to toss 5 ingredients together?? This is the worst drive thru I have been to in my entire life, hands down. At least 4 different times they have messed up my order. They give me the wrong soup, forget a sandwich I ordered entirely, give me chips when I ask for bread, and forget about asking them to 'hold the onions or tomatoes' they never will. This only happens at the drive thru, seriously, the worst staff in the history of drive thru's. On one occasion when they forgot my sandwich, after waiting 30 minutes at the drive thru, I went back inside and waited another 20 minutes to reorder my sandwich. The manager did nothing, said nothing, just apologized. No discount, no free items, no reprimanding the staff, nothing. Following the rule 'If I become a duke, I have to write a review'--so review for the Panera Edison. This is a very convenient location right off route 1 with plenty of parking. I tend to come here after work usually since it is on my way home--and has free wi-fi and plenty of room to sit and work. The food is the same as any other Panera so I am not going to bother--and folks who works here are friendly and helpful. Compare to other Panera locations, this one is bit dirty (including bathrooms) but that is probably because It gets very busy. I am sure I will come here many more times to take advantage of the free wi-fi while eating "healthy food". They do have a drive through window which is convenient for the morning coffee. read more

They got the order wrong and we were given dirty silverware which they blamed on the dishwasher but those spoons hadn't been in a dishwasher. I order from here often with work colleagues for lunch. It's quick, so it's usually our go to. Very often they forget items in the order and when we call the number to the Edison location, nobody answers or the phone gets disconnected while we're waiting for someone. There's no way to inform them of the situation unless one of us drives there in person after work. So instead of chasing them around to correct the order that day or refund the order whenever, I'm just leaving them a long overdue rating. The bathrooms are a little sketchy in this Panera. It makes up for the sketchy bathroom with a big open layout, constantly refilling coffee, and a staff that lets you just hang out. Even if you're in the store after they close, they'll do their closing chores and let you sit until they absolutely have to kick you out. I used to dine here often before my apartment had internet and I've done the drive-thru many a time since. I mean, when I'm in a drive-thru kind of mood, it's often a no brainer versus neighboring McDonald's and White Castle. I've never been a big fan of Panera, but the quick availability of (at least what appears to be) non-terrible food has its appeal. The barbecue chicken flatbread was my usual go-to before they removed it. As far as location-specific mentions, this particular spot irks me sometimes, mainly from a service standpoint. One thing that stands out is how they sometimes don't ask if I want bread, apple or chips when I do the drive-thru - and just automatically give me chips. I come here all the time to study and plus I love the food. BUT!!!!!!!! THE NOISE LEVL IS RIDICULOUS. The staff are always loud and ratchet. Now bare with me. When I say ratchet Im not talking about race Im talking about the context of their conversations and loudness. I swear Im sitting in here right now and I can hear the staff joking around talking about her baby daddy. I often order the pick 2 soup and salad and they get me everytime on the $0.99 cent pastry when they upsell. Brilliant. This used to be a decent place to work during the day. However, I think they turned the music volume up in order to prevent people from doing that. They need more outlets anyway. If you need power, it's not a bad idea to bring your own power strip! They do get an extra point for having vegan black bean soup and almond milk for coffee. However, half the time I go there they are actually out of almond milk and have to order more from their supplier. Also, why couldn't they make their vegetable soup without "pesto" in it, and who puts pesto in soup to begin with? I love Panera. The kiosks are so easy to use and I don't have to wait in line. They bring your food to your table based on the little pagers so we don't have to crowd around the counter waiting. I have visited this Panera location about 3 times within the last few months and each time there was a problem. The first time, I went for the Cinnamon Crunch bagels at 9am and they didn't have any of them left. You'd think that they would bake or order more if they know these bagels sell out but I ended up leaving. The second visit, my friend and I did see that they had the Cinnamon Crunch bagels but then they told us that they ran out of cream cheese. So at that point I thought to myself "Why is there always an issue at this location?" The third and last visit is quite the story but I will keep it short. My friend ordered the bacon and egg sandwich on brioche bread with a coffee and I ordered 2 sesame bagels toasted with butter and a cup for lemonade. There was no lemonade available so I was told that they would make some and my friend was told that they would be bringing out hazelnut coffee. So we wait...wait...wait some more, 30 minutes goes by...the server comes to our table with an egg white sandwich on flatbread. My friend immediately said he didn't want it and said he wanted the brioche sandwich. The server looked confused, told us that there was no more brioche bread and said the cook thought he would want this one instead. So the cook thought he could read minds and assumed a customer wanted something else but she ended up taking the sandwich back. The server comes back 5 minutes later with a copy of our receipt and says that there's no butter for the bagels either so they couldn't process my order. I basically said I wanted my money back and she was apologizing saying "The catering service delivers our supplies once per month..." so I asked the girl if it made sense that they'd be without something as simple as butter until the end of the month and she was laughing with us, agreeing that whatever policy they have is idiotic. She gave us a full refund and we left. We ended up at the Panera by Woodbridge Mall and told the cashier our story and she said that it was the most ridiculous thing a customer has ever said and she thought I made that story up. My friend then said it was true and she was laughing at the whole once a month supply story. In the end, I will never set foot in this location ever again. read more
