Bread bowl with chicken noodle soup and a tuna salad sandwich.
Melanie I.

I came in to the restaurant and I really wanted some of their always tasty chicken noodle soup. I got the soup in a bread bowl and it was amazing! I would definitely get the bread bowl again and I would probably get the chicken noodle soup in it, if the chicken noodle soup is available. The tuna salad sandwich was also quite good! They have a fireplace that is located near the front door and it was lit. The fire felt so good against my back when I ate here, because I was cold and the warm felt absolutely amazing against my back.

$10 for a grilled cheese that wasn't event toasted and the cheese was literally stuck to the paper like it was microwaved

Horrible salad.

Not as good as other chains. Newport Ky is good. Alexandria Ky is sloppy and stale. Maybe look elsewhere if in that area.

Not impressed. Everything tastes like it came straight out of a package. Overpriced and no flavor.

just too expensive for the amount & quality of food received. Only thing halfway reasonable is bagel with cream cheese.

We visited Knotty Pine On the Bayou on a Thursday. The restaurant is pretty good size. I didn't…read morerealize this until it was time for a restroom break. It was a long walk. The wicker chairs in the section to the left of the bar as you face the bar were unusually deep and low. Over time I think we all adjusted, but sitting in them definitely felt unusual. There are other chairs throughout the restaurant. I recommend finding a table with different chairs. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very efficient. We hadn't checked on the website, but found out Thursday is oyster day, with $1 oysters and fried oysters and $1.50 for Oyster Bienville. The fried oysters were delicious. The raw oysters were good, though I had one that was gritty. We are going again in two weeks and will try the Oyster Bienville along with other assorted oysters. Two of us had the special Pan Seared Sea Bass. It came highly recommended and did not disappoint. The crisp on the top was delicious and the fish itself was delicate and moist. It did indeed melt in my mouth. The potatoes were very good, though I didn't finish all of them. The greens were good. Mark had a ribeye and is still raving about it today. He ordered the preparation version made with just salt and pepper. He also had a cup of gumbo. He said it had an amazing depth of flavor. We wrapped up with dessert. Three folks had Key Lime Pie. I opted for Karma's Opera Crème Cake. Oh my goodness, it was huge, sweet and delicious. I tried a bit of key lime and it just didn't compare. That said, those who had the Key Lime Pie loved it. Not only would we return, but we have the date already scheduled. I'm looking forward to trying something different.

Not to mention the fact that you HAVE TO HAVE A RESERVATION, was mind boggling for the place. Like the server was very nice and all, that is a plus. Though sadly the food, we had the gumbo and etu fay, it was honestly pretty sad. Like it's up there with the top 5 most sad restaurants I've ever eaten at. The food was pretty bland, and lacked any form of spice. Not to mention it was hard to tell what was actually in it, like a lot of the ingredients tasted over cooked. So yeah it's going to be a no for me.

Decent breakfast spot if you're in a pinch--whether for time or distance. We were really impressed…read morewith their goetta, and I loved that you can substitute it for other breakfast meats in most entrées. A couple notes I'd share with the restaurant: the entrée prices feel a bit high, and the gravy was unfortunately too thick and under-seasoned for our taste. I'd definitely give this place another try, but I wouldn't order the gravy again. They also missed one of our entrées, so my daughter didn't get her food until about 18 minutes after everyone else. The ambiance is cozy and no-frills, giving that classic local diner feel. The service was extremely friendly, and you can tell they have a solid base of regulars who enjoy eating here.

The place is bright and friendly with what appeared to be many regular patrons. Our server was nice and helpful. I ordered an omelette with a hotcake and he got two eggs over easy with goetta. Our meal came with toast too. We ordered rye and whole wheat. Candidly, the food didn't have any flavor. The potatoes were the most bland. My veggie omelette had large sliced vegetables inside vs smaller pieces. The huge hotcake was thick and I'm guessing that's the difference between a hotcake and a pancake. It was good but not great. Glad we stopped by. Atmosphere very nice, service was great. We won't return due to the food. Just not good, no flavor.
