I like Bibibop Asian Grill. It's a convenient, casual place to grab a meal when you are in the university area (walkable!). The prices seem to be quite ok, not expensive for college crowds either ($10ish for a bowl). I like that they have different combinations of things that you can pick for your bowl. And if you are too tired of deciding, you can easily just go with some of the menu/combination that they already created. I went with Bibimbop's Fan Favorite and thought they food was super tasty! (a guy behind me ordered the same thing but he asked for beef as a substitution for chicken and they were happy to do that for him, too!). The only minor downside was...they may not be as used to the crowd/rush of people. It took a while to get the food and because of the lunch rush, it could be quite confusing which bowl in the line if for whom, etc. But other than that, I loved the tasty meal they got! I've heard that Bibibop is the Panch/Chipotle of Asian food. I can now confirm that that is true. I came here on a week night with friends and although I had already eaten, they all got a meal. I got the coconut milk pudding with mango as a dessert- so yummy! I neglected to get a picture of my pudding, but the mangos top the coconut milk pudding. However, check out the picture of the bowls because they looked delicious and FULL! All friends thoroughly enjoyed their bowls. Finally got to try it after attempting to go several times. We ordered two bowls, I got rice with chicken, kimchi, bean sprouts and cabbage. I wanted to love it but I was not impressed. I had been wanting to try Bibibop Asian Grill (in Calhoun/Clifton) for a while, and finally got to taste it for myself. My results, however, were very mixed. The first time I had ordered from here, I had the "Meatless Monday" special: The Bibibop Fan Favorite with Tofu for the protein. The bowl had such a selection of veggies with nicely toasted pieces of tofu, I couldn't wait to try it. I was amazed at how each vegetable, rice, noodles and the Yum Yum sauce made such a wonderful flavor. Also, the person who took my order, (over the phone), was very friendly and energetic. The second time, is when things did not go so well. I went inside to place my order for 3 Bibibop Fan Favorites to go. The woman behind the counter was not friendly. In fact, she acted as if I were bothering her by placing an order. The second person behind the counter helped me with the check out, but sadly, did not seem like he cared. I didn't receive any kind of greeting or anything as I left. I got my food home and took a few bites. I was shocked as the previously great flavor, was substituted by bland nothingness. I had to add the Kimchi I had purchased to add flavor. One thing I will say is the outside of the restaurant was very clean. When I walked inside the restaurant, my feet started sticking on the floor. Not the worst I've had, but when a place seems like I'm bothering them, (being a customer), I take the hint. So we were in the Nati for a few hours at dinner time and a friend recommended this place. He said it was very good and reasonably priced, he said it's like Chipotle for Asian food. I absolutely love this restaurant. It is a chain restaurant, and those usually don't make my favorite cuts... but this place is fire. I first discovered it in Columbus about 6 years ago. They were all over around there and there were none in the tristate area back then so I was bummed. I was so excited when they started opening them around here shortly after. I love Korean food. This is like chipotle style Korean food. It is a fast food take on the traditional Bibimbap meal which is a large bowl of rice with lots of different vegetables, meat, and your choice of sauce on top. I think authentic bibimbap is better, but this is still up there in taste and way cheaper. They also have a lot of different options of sauces. I love the gochujang and yumyum sauce on mine. Their kimchi is also amazing, and they give you free miso soup! You will spend about $10 and probably take home leftovers. One last thing I want to mention is that everything in the store is gluten free, msg free, & peanut free. They also use cage free eggs and have vegan options. This means a lot to me, having a kid with food allergies. I couldn't speak higher of a place, and anytime I'm in the area I make it a point to stop here and smoothie king that's right across the street. Check them out if you haven't yet. I've been obsessed with this restaurant since trying it in Columbus a few years ago. When traveling in Ohio, I now always check to see if I'm near one. The interior of the restaurant was modern and immaculate. All of the employees were friendly and helpful! It's similar to the Qdoba concept but with Asian fusion options. I always get the purple rice, which I'm pretty sure is just regular rice, but it's fun because it's purple. There are various other base and meat options as well as veggies and a variety of sauces at the end of the line. Personally I like to get a mixture of teriyaki and yum yum. You can also make your base a green leaf, to have a healthier lighter giant salad option. The protein options are meat (steak or chicken) or vegetarian (tofu). They have an excellent online ordering system and a reward loyalty programme. They make it super easy to order a meal for a group, which is why I use them for work meetings at times. I usually pick up myself, but there is a delivery option for a reasonable radius around the location. They also work with third-party delivery chains like Grubhub etc. Easy easy easy. I was particularly happy with my last visit. Needed to order a quick mid-week dinner, ordered on my phone, by the time I got there in 10 minutes my food was packed and ready to go. At Calhoun location they have a devoted 'take-away table', where brown bags are waiting with clearly printed names on them. Very easy, safe and contact-less! Thumbs up!!!! read more

I have to admit. I was a BIBIBOP virgin until last week. I have had korean many times and loved it, but had never had BIBIBOP! I also didn't know that the restaurant was founded just up the road in Columbus. This review is based on a delivery experience. The first thing I noticed is how much food I got... this was basically two full meals (or one very regretful one if you play your cards right). The bowl was very customizable (think chipotle-style Korean) and you could make it to varying levels of healthiness. The value was definitely great and the flavor did not disappoint either. I'm not sure what happened tonight, but they were in some kind of mood, screwing us left, right and center on ingredients. They did quarter scoops of every ingredient unless you asked for them for more (aka asking them to give you the standard amount of food) in which case they begrudgingly added more and gave us rude looks. The attached photo is the amount of food they finally gave us after asking for "more food" 6 separate times on 4 ingredients, and it was still maybe half of the amount of food we normally receive when we go. I'm just really disappointed as we were actually really looking forward to this and now are just upset that we wasted our money. I don't expect perfection, I just expect to get the food I pay for. I was excited to see this franchise open in Cincinnati after trying it for the first time in Cleveland. What a great concept, Chipotle for the traditional Korean bibimbap (rice with meats and vegitables). Unfortunately, my experience here was not the same as the past. Firstly, I don't know if the franchise has reduced the selections available to add to your bowl or I have been spoiled by the other options out there - but the add on selections available to put on your bowl is not only limited, but very boring. What happened to all the great toppings a traditional bibimbap has - like an egg, daikon, mushrooms, spinach, kimchi, seaweed, sesame seeds? Instead, this felt like a mixture of traditional American salad bar ingredients thrown together like corn, cheese, and squash. Secondly, and much more disappointly, there was an insane amount of salt put in both the rice and chicken - so much so, the meal was not eadible after a few bites. Would have loved to use the Miso Soup (typically a great perk here) to wash down the salt, but no one bothered to refill after 10-15 minutes there. Newcomers such as Poke Hut, Roll on In, Core Life are upping the game of rice bowls with unique fresh ingredients - I recommend the brand follow suite to remain competitive. Additionally, preventable issues such as consistency of execution of their standard dishes like rice and chicken should be considered. read more

You get to pick a base (lettuce, rice, purple rice or noodles) and then protein, veggies and sauce. I had a bowl with rice, spicy chicken, corn, carrots, bean sprouts and their Yum Yum sauce (creamy/mayo based). It was amazing! So flavorful and all the ingredients were super fresh. I only wish that we had one of these in Indy...I would eat here all the time if we did! So glad we made the stop here for dinner, it was well worth going out of the way. Parking is a bit terrible, as it is on University of Cincinnati's campus, so be prepared to deal with that when you arrive. But, I promise you won't be disappointed.
