I've been to many Panera restaurants. Dozens. This one is OK. Service is sometimes slow. Better service at the drive-through. I do like that you can get free refills of your soda or iced tea or tea here. That's a plus. That doesn't happen at most Paneras. One thing I wish this Panera would do is address the fact that there might be one person seated at a table for six. Instead of staff moving them to a smaller table, some of these people are camped out with their laptop and their coffee for hours. Sometimes my family has the room the restaurant like nomad looking for an available table to accommodate the four of us. When you ask one of the people seated at a table with their six invisible friends, they refuse to move. I've addressed this with staff in the past. I don't think that's right. read more

While the staff was very nice, it took a long time to receive my order because someone put cheese on my salad. Me and my partner is lactose intolerant. I didn't mind waiting because at least the mistake was corrected. The employee who caught the mistake was super nice about it. However, we got home, and we checked my partner's food, and it was covered in yogurt and feta cheese. He could not eat it. He is even more severely lactose intolerant than I am and gets pretty sick from dairy. This isn't the first time something like this has happened at this location. I don't blame the employees. They are probably underpaid and overworked. I blame management. I have never had this issue at other Paneras. This location always messes at least one thing up or doesn't have key ingredients or menu items. It feels like its issue of management because a long running problem. Will never return. just had a less than stellar experience at Panera in Clark, New Jersey. Ordered a breakfast sandwich on a multi grain bagel. The server brings out my order and the question to pop into my mind: why am I getting sliced bread when I asked for a bagel? I'm thinking this, not stating it. Gentleman proceeds to tell me there are no multi grain bagels left so they've prepared my order on multi grain bread instead. I tell him I saw m.g. Bagels behind the counter. He questions me and tells me he's going to check. He disappears. I take my order to the front counter and explain, and ask for a refund. I also ask the woman who's helping me, why is my mind being made up for me and my order being altered without my being asked? She refunds me the full amount of my order- thus comping me my coffee. Which I appreciate. The one plus in this whole exchange. As I'm heading to the door I hear her yell "Jeremiah!" Panera CEO and wxecs, PLEASE sort yourselves out on providing a better product and service. And provide the proper training, attention to detail to offer better service, communication and thought as to what will make your patrons' experience an exemplary one. And why can't I seem to get toasted bread on a sandwich when I order one? No matter how many times I ask. It always arrives untoasted. You're in the bread business. It's a main ingredient in the product you offer. Its inferred in your Brand Name. How do you not have a basic toaster in what I'm sure is a fully loaded kitchen?? It was a bit busy when I dropped by yesterday, but luckily my partner and I were able to catch the table by the entrance. This would usually be a great thing, considering how it is a lone table by the ordering kiosk and so it usually means some peace and quiet away from the crowds, but apparently that is quite the opposite at this panera, due to the rude and immature staff. The first thing I noticed is that regardless of the tables being so busy and people coming and going, not once were the tables wiped down after the customers left. That means that the tables were left sticky, filthy and full of crumbs, and I had to wipe down my own table with hand sanitizer and a napkin. The food portions are generous, but they never brought out our cookies ( a constant issue, we always have to go to the front counter to ask when they will be bringing our cookies out ) and the lady who brought the food out to the tables refused to help us with that issue and told us to take that issue up with the cashier. Luckily, since we were seated by the entrance, she was only a few feet away and so it was not a big deal. The real issue started halfway into my meal. A male employee was clocking out and about to leave from the back when the lady at the register decided to scream the f word, the n word, and countless other profanities to the TOP of her lungs at the guy who was about to leave, who then turned around laughing ( as if it was funny that the employees were speaking in such a way on the clock ) and started screaming a number of profanities her way too. This went on for a good 5 minutes, and I am not exaggerating when I say SCREAMING, kicking, JUMPING and full on PLAY FIGHTING in front of everyone trying to enjoy their meals. I enjoy the convenience of having this Panera right across from the Ulta, which gives me the convenience of catching a bite before the drive back home, but I will be sticking to the Panera in Edison from now on, which is clean, newly renovated, and has a fantastic staff. On top of that, he's an absolute creep who stared at my significant other up and down like she was a billboard, making his intentions very obvious. Self serve kiosks work well here. We ordered from Panera app from our table, which is fantastic. The app is seamless for ordering, and 2 runners deliver your food within 10 minutes. It was first time at this location. Honestly I was apprehensive based on the low reviews, but the next nearest place to get something quick was McDonalds. With the history I've had with Panera back in my home town, I took my chances here. I'm actually happy that I did . Since there were about 5 people ahead of me, I decided to use the kiosk for the first time ever. I figured why not, I have to wait anyway. It was simple, I made my selections . I ordered a turkey sandwich and bottled water . That was my breakfast. My hubby ordered a tuna sandwich and green tea. It was easy to pay right at the kiosk . By the time I completed my order the line of 5 people were gone . I noticed my name on the board displaying where I was in line . Once my order was Fulfilled, someone called my name for pickup. Voila! My food was ready to go. Before I left I decided to get two chunky chocolate chip cookies. The lady at the counter was so friendly and she gave me such a pleasant smile As we left , she told us to have a wonderful day. It was just something about her that gave off such a pleasant vibe. Now I'm not sure of the low reviews, but I had a great experience. No one is perfect , but my experience was pleasant . The restaurant looked clean and it was Quite. Wow, it's really amazing that new places can simply go from mediocre, or bad, to WORSE. We came in for lunch. Because we were planning to pay with a credit card, we were told to go the express ordering kiosk. This kiosk was touchscreen and quite easy to navigate and order. We were able to see what was available and the cost. That's where things took a turn for the worst. We were craving for their creamy tomato soup in a bread bowl after hearing so much hype about them, and feedback from family members and co-workers. But when we got there, the kiosk said that they were sold out. When we asked that person about this, she told us that they ran out for the day. Really? That's a shame, so we looked for other possible preferences. We looked at creamy chicken and french onion soups. But guess what the kiosk said. SOLD OUT. The person said they ran out of that too. We browsed through the sandwich section, and half of what was displayed on the kiosk said "SOLD OUT". This didn't feel right at all. Fed up, we decided to dine at a place next door. But before that, we wanted to get a bear claw for dessert later in the day. But guess what the person in the bakery said. SOLD OUT!! My dad questioned on whether or not this was the proper way to operate ON A WEEKEND!! Because the place next door didn't have any issues like that! It's hard to believe that a restaurant would operate when they didn't have the popular items in stock on a WEEKEND. In fact, it's the first time that we've experienced something like that. As with JZ's agreeable 1-star review, there's clearly a lot of disorganization here. We will NOT come back to THIS location ever again! If this location doesn't want to lose more customers, then they should BE MORE ORGANIZED!! My husband and I time and time again have tried to give this Panera a chance because it's up the street from our home and we are let down every single time we order. Tried this Panera as it just opened. Decor was nice, both indoor and outdoor. Outdoor area was very nice with several shaded tables, cushiony seats and privacy fence separating it from parking lot. Indoors it has tables and benches like most paneras. It also has a fireplace but it is high up not by sofas like other paneras. Food was good as it is in other paneras. Ordering was fast but one thing they do different is bring food to the table not pick up. Overall we liked this panera and will continue to come here since it's closer to home. Update 05/18/16 This place has gone down hill so fast. For an establishment that hasn't been open a year, they should consider changing management before it gets even worse. We've come here a few times since initial review hoping things will improve. So far they have ran out of food, but didn't update this in the kiosk. The food is served in a sloppy manner, dripping everywhere. Bread was stale twice, but on both occasions they didn't give me another one when asked. Tea was dumped at 9 pm when they close at 10pm, we were told to drink soda instead! They never have lids to medium size cups.Bathrooms need tending to and they don't clean up plates. First- I have to say my family likes the type of food that Panera offers so it is a place we like to occasionally visit. Sadly, the Panera in Clark Commons is not being efficiently run in regards to cleanliness and organization. The last time we were here (Aug 2018) the floors were a mess and probably were not swept the entire day, large amount of used dishes in their drop off location and most of the table were not cleaned properly. If they can't keep their dining area clean I can only imagine what is going on in the kitchen.
