    Outdoor seating in the shade

As a member of the sip free club, I quite frankly enjoy going to this location instead of the Edison one for a couple of reasons. -this is a way bigger location with more seats and tables -the views are nicer and the area is not too crowded -the outdoor seating is lovely and is either in the shade or their umbrellas are doing a good job of providing the shade -their staff although sometimes understaffed is quite friendly. One of the managers, Megan, even came up to us in the morning to check in with us, which I thought was cool. -I like how they have the self kiosk right by the door.

Located in the Clark Commons off of Raritan Road, this was my first time back in 2 years, and it appeared to be clean early this morning for takeout. Besides indoor dining, whose main room is designed in earthy tones with comfortable seating, this Panera Bread Cafe# 601755 also has several tables for outdoor dining, which I don't see at most locations. Upon entering, there were several self-service kiosks for a speedy ordering process or counter service. Greeted by the staff, I ordered my go-to Asiago bagel toasted with cream cheese for breakfast. The bagel was deliciously tasty with the warm cheese. Staff was friendly, service was quick, and the price was pretty standard, which I can recommend.

First time at this panera. I like the setup of seating at this location. Kinda set where you can come and read a book or news paper without taking up a table. Has a table for 2 and up to 14 ready to sit you if not crowded. . First time I have tried breakfast at any Panera. Had a sausage, egg and cheese on Brioche roll. Was not hot when I got it which is a surprise since picked it up soon as they called my name. Cheese was not even melted. It even looked so... like simple. Guess looked for a signature sauce or something. Melted cheese would have help for me. Doubt would do breakfast at Panera again. I will stick to the Pick 2 at lunch time.

And surprisingly, this happened to be a very well known restaurant as our other coworkers knew about it! It's located across of CubaNu Restaurant & Lounge on the corner of Lewis St and Main St in downtown Rahway. There's paid street parking and parking garages around the area. My coworker and I shared their Calamari Al Forno, tossed with Italian sausage, hot cherry pepper, and balsamic glaze. And wow. Who would have thought balsamic glaze with calamari would be sooooo good! I'll definitely be ordering that combination again. The mix with the Italian sausage and cherry peppers added a nice kick to the dish. Both of us could not stop eating it even though we wanted to save room for our pastas. Our meal was off to a great start! I ordered their Linguini de Mar which was supposed to have four seafoods: shrimp, calamari, mussels, and clams. Unfortunately, mine was missing the calamari. However, the pasta was incredibly flavorful and the seafood was cooked perfectly - not overdone or underdone at all. YUM! My coworker got their Cheese Ravioli with the Bolognese sauce (unsure if it was extra as I didn't see the check). She loved her pasta as well! She's usually a light eater, but she devoured half the calamari appetizer and all of her pasta, which speaks volumes about how much she enjoyed the meal. I felt that the one downside was the unusual amount of water I drank (maybe ten cups?). This was my own personal indicator that there was definitely some sort of flavor enhancer which wasn't a negative thing. I'm not certain, but the food was very good, so kudos to them if that's the case. Overall, definitely a hidden gem! We unfortunately didn't try their pizzas/pies but this will definitely be on my list again the next time I visit. Or I may opt in for another round of calamari al forno and pasta again, haha!

They also were fun, not afraid to joke around with you as part of your experience. Parking here is a true pain though. Metered street parking mainly (Free after a certain time), but there is also a parking garage. It does have a very nice bar area, but I did not take a picture of it. For food we had the Dumplings appetizer, El Presidente, & Mama's Chicken. Drinks we had The Purple Drink (Yes, that's its name) & Simple Man. All of the food was absolutely delicious. Even the complimentary bread was great. It comes with a "cinnamon apple" butter? Not sure, but it was excellent. Overall, worth a return trip. I started with a drink that was just okay, nothing special, but not terrible either. For an appetizer, we ordered the octopus, and unfortunately it was not good. The sauce didn't taste great, and the octopus itself didn't taste great either , which already set the tone for what I was about to have next. For my entrée, I had the Dijon salmon (not pictured), and it was honestly so bad. It had a very strong, fishy taste, and I couldn't get through it, I left most of it on the plate. I'm not one to complain, and since I was there with my kids, I just paid the bill and left. The space itself is pretty, but the food is no bueno. Also I found the menu was limited, it wasn't clear what their specialty is, and nothing really stood out or made me want to try something else. Overall, not a place I'd return to nor recommend.

What Thai food dreams are made of…read more I first got hooked on Thai food about 20 years ago--grabbing takeout from random food carts and a tiny Midtown spot called Rain. One bite in, I was done for. Since then, it's basically a rule: if I see a Thai restaurant, I'm stopping. Over time I've graduated beyond pad Thai (growth), and I'm always on the hunt for the next standout dish. This past weekend, I found a hidden gem. And I mean hidden. Don't let the exterior fool you--it looks like the new owners took over a long-retired diner that last saw its glory days sometime around the Reagan administration. Inside doesn't do much to change your expectations either... very "vintage 80s diner chic," and not in the trendy way. Then you're greeted by a kid who looks like he's juggling high school algebra homework while simultaneously bussing tables, taking orders, running food, pouring drinks, and working the register. Absolute Swiss Army knife. Honestly, I've been to fully staffed restaurants that don't run half as efficiently. Now the food--this is where things get serious. I usually start with papaya salad, but I saw they offered soft shell crab for an extra $3 and thought, "say less." The crabs came out perfectly fried--crispy, not greasy--two generous pieces sitting on top of a bright mango salad with a light vinaigrette. Ridiculously good. For mains, I went with my usual benchmarks: beef pad see ew and duck in red curry. Both delivered. The pad see ew had a solid portion of Chinese broccoli, noodles cooked just right, and that perfect balance of savory flavor. The red duck curry? Rich, fragrant, and the kind of dish that reminds you why you fell in love with Thai food in the first place. No exaggeration--these might be the best versions of both dishes I've had in 20 years of eating Thai. And I don't say that lightly. I was just in Vegas and went off-strip to try a highly recommended Thai spot... this place beats it, easily. My wife agreed, and she doesn't hand out food compliments like participation trophies. At that point, we figured dessert was mandatory because clearly this place refuses to miss. Mango sticky rice came out and--shocking--also excellent. Sweet, balanced, and a perfect finish. Total bill was around $100, including a large Thai iced tea (also on point). Bottom line: this family knows exactly what they're doing. If they keep this up, they won't be "hidden" for long--they'll be packed with repeat customers who, like me, came for curiosity and left planning their next visit.

Tables left dirty /uncleaned, angry customers waiting for pick up, multiple customers reminding server of drink orders that took several minutes, no water or silverware for a while - the food did eventually come and was hot and good but not sure we'll be back? We ordered Thai iced tea, tom kha soup, pad thai and pad see ew. The diner vibe is so cute, they have potential for sure!
