I usually am not the type to really leave reviews, but I got pretty mad over my last time here. I ordered for pickup a simple sandwich and drink through DoorDash, not really getting much. I get to the counter and I see my order's ready so I say "excuse me" to a lady behind the counter, and instead of simply replying, she mocks me and then walks away. Sure, people have off days, I've been there, but you don't have to mock the customer for it. So then after waiting a second a couple of guys come out and I tell them I got an order for doordash. A few seconds go by and then one of the guys hands me my order without saying a thing a dead expression on his face. After I said "thank you" he just turns and doesn't say a thing. The food was made pretty sloppy too, different than the other Panera Breads I've been to. Had I known this, I probably would've just ate at Arby's instead. read more

The soup tasted so-so (not $10 worth) and the panini seemed pretty small for an extra $3.50. This was my first time trying Panera Bread and I'm far from impressed. There are many local places that have the same attributes (soup and sandwiches) that are more affordable and tastier. I probably won't be returning. read more

My office, Chicostart, based in downtown ordered here last week and they were great! They wrapped all sandwiches individually and had cute little notes on each product to explain what was in it. They were very friendly and accommodating and the food was great! Our office will definitely be ordering again, especially because of their professional service during COVID :) read more

So thrilled to see that Chico has a drive-thru Panera, very unimpressed after using it, sides were forgotten and my chicken salad sandwich had a spoonful of chicken on either side of the sandwich... Literally. When you're on a road trip and do a drive-thru, you're pretty stuck with what you get as you head down the road and cannot go back very easily, so it's important to get good quality food and service so you'll want to drive-thru next time. I've been aiming for Panera ever since seeing a billboard featuring a new sandwich that looked appealing. I couldn't remember exactly what was on it. The friendly folks here help me narrow it down to a chicken chipotle avocado number. I ordered a half. First complaint: It came to $6.76. For cryin' out loud, people, price your stuff so there are no pennies involved. Lower it one cent. Raise it four cents. I don't care. This is where little mom-n-pop are preferable. I asked the checker if he had a penny. No. In a mom-n-pop, they'd just say "forget about it" and hand you back your quarter. At a corporate place, they probably have 3-strikes-your-out policies for an unbalanced cash drawer. Second, and bigger complaint: I opened the sandwich to put on some black pepper; there was so little chicken that a some of the bites would have had none. (See pic). I tore the chicken pieces up to spread them. Third complaint (late addition). As I am typing this, one of the workers asked me how the sandwich was. I said "just okay" and described the measly amount of chicken. She said "Oh! That's too bad" and walked away. A well-managed, well-coached, empowered employee would have immediately offered a remedy, be it a refund, a coupon for a discount or freebee, something. Too bad for me and Panera. Good news for the next mom-n-pop shop I see when I'm hungry. 4-stars for the friendly employees and the cleanliness. 1-star for the food and the management. read more

First time here.. soup was fantastic.. had the French onion.. service was terrible. Cashier made zero eye contact. Then when got order, it was not correct.. cashier didn't type correct order in to begin with. Receipt showed paninis and when order arrived, neither were paninis. 5 Stars for 5 Star service. Go every morning for my coffee subscription and the staff is always point on!! Great start to a great morning. The young man that usually helps me is AWESOME!!!! Henry made me have the "wow" factor this morning when I ordered my coffee and he said, "ok Tisha, what's your number!" I literally dropped my mascara and was in awe. My days have been heavy, my husband passed last week, and Its all been kind of blurry. The service I got today just made me smile! This is close to my work and I have a friend who really likes it here, so I've eaten here about a dozen times. Today they seemed less busy and I was next to Panera (and hungry), so I hit the drive thru. Once again, they fell short. What I like: Food is generally decent quality and the choices are unique from other restaurants. Today the drive-thru service was fast. What I don't like: Often they are very slow. More than 1/2 the time they are out of some ingredient or item I order. More than 1/2 the time they've gotten something wrong (using the wrong bread or putting in the wrong side.) My biggest issue is that the price is set too high. Today I got a "pick two" lunch, which includes two items and a side, the price varies based on the items ordered. I got 1/2 a chipotle chicken avocado melt and mac-n-cheese. They didn't ask me about the side - they gave me a piece of bread, which is a silly side for a sandwich. I would have been much happier with a simple pickle or apple, but they didn't ask and I had forgotten. They were out of the peppers they usually use. The 1/2 sandwich was very small, the mac-n-cheese side is about 1/2 a cup. The meal was plenty big for me, but did not match the $11.09 I was charged. The sandwich was too greasy. The mac-n-cheese was fine, but nothing special. I don't think I'll go back unless I'm with someone who really wants to eat there. read more

First time at Panera and I am so disappointed! Ordered sobs noodles, Thai spicy chicken salad, tortellini Alfredo pasta with baguette bread soba noodles and bbq chicken flatbread front the kids menus. The bread was hard as a rock! Felt like my teeth was gonna break from taking a bite! The soba noodles in miso chicken broth was so bland and water down it had no flavors so I was basically eating soggy noodles with watered down broth. The bbq chicken flat bread only had 2 pieces of chicken with a whole bunch of bbq sauce in it! I was basically eating bread with bbq sauce! Will never go again! went in this morning after hearing their commercial on the radio advertising the maple glazed bacon egg & cheese wrap so that's what I ordered (even told the gal, I just heard the commercial). What they made me was the chipotle etc. wrap. They weren't busy at the time. I didn't realize until I took a bite once I was in my office. When you are expecting maple glazed bacon & you get chipotle instead...They get 2 stars because they were polite & made me a replacement quickly. I was turned off by employees openly chomping on gum. Ordered lunch from an employee that was open about being new and apologized for how long it took to place an order for a turkey sandwich. Once I received my food it wasn't prepared how I ordered it so I asked an employee if they could please fix it. Before the employee could respond a manager walked by without looking at me and stated "we don't take food back." Then proceeded to walk away. I let the employee know that that is not how you speak to your customers and that I found her actions inappropriate. If your going to mess up my order, you need to fix it. For a panera bread, this is very mediocre. The food is pretty similar, however the drive thru forgets parts of your order, and throws in a chunk a bread in with the napkins. Not to mention table service is now a thing of the past, it's all come up to the counter. I want to like Panera. I have liked the food and experience at other locations, but Chico's restaurant is pretty sad. Which makes me sad because everyone here was so excited to finally get a Panera. And then we get Panera's evil twin instead of the good Panera we longed for. I'll break this down for you: Service is slow to standing still. They seem to be understaffed in the kitchen. The prices as compared to quality and quantity are far too high. The food is just so-so. Why? It should be good AND fresh. I am baffled by this. Drive-through is gawd awful. If you need a place to nap and kill an afternoon, c'mon over to Panera drive-through. No one will bother you, trust me on this. I ordered online for rapid pick-up. I went in to get my food, waited at the pick-up counter, asked them where it was, waited for them to "re-make it". When I finally got back outside with my food, the same black Honda was still in line and not even around the corner or in the sight line of the ordering window. Whaaa? Crazy. And as you know, once you enter the drive-through there is no turning back. You are on that ride through the end, like it or not. I like it not. Also, a word of caution, and this is no fault of Panera's, but driving around the location is hazardous. I nearly got nailed trying to exit the mall and not in the good way. Pump the brakes, people, pump them. Panera is for those with a moderately thick wallet, desperate for faux healthful fare, and time wealthy. It's going to be a long day at Panera. Bon? Went thru the drive thru for lunch today and ordered half a Fiji apple salad and a few other things for the kids. My salad wasn't made correctly, missing ingredients and no baguette to go with it. I was thrilled when I found out that Panera Bread was coming to Chico. After a long wait, the grand opening finally came and my brother and I went to go check it out. As soon as I walked it, I immediately liked how it looked. It had a nice, cozy feel to it. Before making it to the counter to order something, I spotted the cookies, muffins and other goodies on display. I got three triple chocolate cookies and loved them. It was very moist and delicious. The true chocolate lover's dream. My brother got a muffin and enjoyed it as well. We then decided to buy some sandwiches. My brother ordered a Frontega Chicken Panini and some soup, while I ordered an Italian Combo. The total was extremely pricey. For everything, the total came to around $30! Okay, yes, we ordered some sweets that racked up the bill, so we kept that in mind. As long as the sandwiches tasted good, we would surely be back again next time and we wouldn't order as many sweets. Anyway, on to the sandwiches. They were, on the other hand, very disappointing. My brother's sandwich was quite small for the price he paid and my sandwich was too much bread and felt empty. The piece of steak that came in my sandwich was nothing more than a little slab of meat. The sandwich was nothing special. I could have made something like this at home. Not exactly what I was expecting. We aren't planning on ordering any more sandwiches from here, unless they make them worth the price. The desserts, while delicious, were also pricey. All in all, this place was just okay. I'll be coming back for the cookies, but not for the sandwiches. I plan on giving the salads a try someday. read more

Do not ever trust Panera's catering online ordering system. I placed an order for a meeting about a month in advance. I even called a few days before the meeting to verify that they had my order and they did. 5 minutes after Panera was to arrive and set up at the site with the food and 10 minutes before the people were supposed to have their lunch, Panera calls and tells me they had lost the order and just found it, did I still want it. Not when you are on a time crunch. Then they go onto apologize and offer up some kind of gift certificate for an apology that they NEVER followed through on. Will never use them again. read more

What a joke! We came here on the way home from a trip. Went to order a sandwich, they were out of that bread so selected another bread. Went to order the next sandwich and they were out of bacon...okay...so order a different sandwich sorry out of field greens as well. How can you be out of three different things, who does the ordering for this place? Get home and they didn't put any sauce on the ham and swiss, put tomatoes on my sandwich after telling them not to and the bread was sliced so uneven that it was falling apart. Order accuracy is terrible (especially to go orders). 3. Dolts behind the counter don' care at all, (even though min wage went up. 4. Prices do not reflect what they serve. 5. Managers who are even bigger dolts because admonishing an employee is too scary, (they might quit if you ask them to actually work; leaving them shorthanded). 6. I love the Panera chain. But this Panera is horrible! I gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were newly opened but by now they should have it together. I literally ordered a salad, a cup of fruit, and a pastry. My order was supposed to be ready at 11:30, but after sitting for a long time, I had to ask them to make it and did not get my food until 12. IMO this defeats the purpose of rapid pick up! The drive thru would have been faster. Also, on several orders they "forget" my baguette or drink. Check your bags before leaving. It's a shame I like the food, the hassle doesn't seem worth it anymore. read more

Three stars because I've been twice and the people at the register don't seem to know much about what items are dairy and gluten-free, plus the food is quite pricey. They were completely out of the soup that my party wanted to order as well. There were clumps of quinoa in my salad which was weird. The service of the people coming to our table was very good though and I did enjoy my food, especially the Turkey Chili. read more

11/8/17 approximately 12:00pm Drive Thru customer I asked for a toasted plain bagel w/ cream cheese, water, and a mocha. Received no water, was in a rush so did not check the food in my bag. When finally getting to my destination to eat I received a whole bagel (not sliced or toasted) with cream cheese. What the hell? Who does that? Boo Panera.
