Nice and clean location, but the customer service leaves a little to be desired. The guy at the counter who took our order was very cold and robotic and didn't even offer is the receipt (we had to grab it ourselves off the printer) and it is a good thing we did since when our order came out we were missing the full bowl of Autumn Squash Soup. And while I can appreciate that when we told the guy at the pick up counter we were missing part of our order he asked to see our receipt, usually if a customer tells you they are missing part of their order, it isn't them trying to pull a fast one and cheat Panera out of a bowl of $4 soup...just a note for future customer service reference. Needless to say, it was lucky we grabbed it the receipt, otherwise we would have been out money and soup. The only other thing of note is the poorly placed changing table in the women's restroom. When it is pulled out the person in the first stall is held hostage as you cannot get out w/o the door hitting the table. So unless you are the size of a sheet of cardstock, you will have to awkwardly wait, like I did, for the close of baby business. read more

There were 4 employees behind the counter, one was cutting bread, one was ringing out the line of 4 people, the other two were talking loudly about their personal lives. This location has zero quality control. I've been coming here for years and has not gotten any better. Mobile orders must not be well liked by the staff. Items are sometimes missing. The sandwiches are not cut consistently and more often than not they use the wrong bread without telling you. This location also runs out of essential items as part of most of their sandwiches. Every time I come, the quality goes down! I used to love coming here for the "You Pick Two" option. I would get an apple and I would always comment on how crunchy they were! Now the apples are mealy, the "You Pick Two" price is super high, and the Thai and Asian Sesame salads are practically just lettuce covered in fried wontons. I had a most unpleasant experience at this Panera today. Came in for a late lunch at around 3:00, ordered a soup and sandwich, and proceeded to look for a table to sit at. The restaurant was not busy, only about 3 tables had people at them, and staff was standing around idly. What I found was quite unappetizing, and had I already eaten, I might have lost my lunch right then and there (though that's a slight exaggeration, the following IS an accurately description of what I saw). The MAJORITY of tables had one or more of the following on them: dirty plates, napkins, liquids... there were used napkins and crumbs on the seats and floors in and around these tables. It was really disgusting. Especially since it was not busy and as I said before, plenty of staff standing around doing nothing! I approached the manager and politely shared my observations with him. He was sitting at a table doing some paperwork and his response was kind of unexpected: Rather than express any genuine concern, he simply nodded at the account and very casually acknowledged my observations. Obviously, he's set the tone for his staff. The men's bathroom was equally filthy, with paper towels strew about the floor and (I kid you not) long hairs in the urinal. I was in there a few months ago and it was super clean. This time it was really gross! What happened? I won't be going back there any time soon, that's for sure. Nothing is ever right at this place. I just cant stand it. But i do get roped into going here on occasion by family. The food is decent but too high priced for the quality, quantity and service. Over $10 for a quarter sandwich and cup of soup. $33 for two adults and a kid with only water. You have to basically serve yourself. Get your own silverware and condiments. The menu is confusing, the staff is usually mediocre. They started making the portions smaller and then give you a bigger piece of bread with your meal to fill you up. I love Panera Bread. This is a quick stop for me after work on my way to school. Hardly ever seems busy. My food has always come out correct. Its nice its next to Trader Joes. I just wish the salad Togo containers were bigger because what u get sitting down is not the same as getting it to go. However this particular location has served me ice cold "Hot Panini" on more than one occasion, and I was told my beloved Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice soup was discontinued. That's the main reason I go to Panera, THAT soup! I took my complaint to panera's FB, and the company themselves assured me the cashier at the Hill Country Galleria location was mistaken. I rarely give a bad review but I just walked out today. This location must have trouble finding help or something. 1 lady in front of me ordered like 2 things to go. I stood there for 10 minutes to order coffee and a roll. Perusing the very limited selection of rolls, and I turned around to see they didn't have dark roast coffee, with a sign up saying they have limited selection certain times. The best help $8 an hour can purchase, exemplified by the cashier who literally threw a pen in my general direction after handing me the receipt. This location is quickly becoming run down and losing any appeal it might have originally had when it didn't feel like a downtown Burger King. Someone needs to buy this place some cleaning materials. It wasn't that busy of a night that keeping up would be too difficult. Also, the employees were freely admitting "we're pretty much running out of everything." I'm concerned for the Hill Country Galleria's reputation as many of the shops in the area are either trying to go upscale, or are struggling to hang on and can't care to try harder to keep an upscale-ish appearance. Panera is in our lunch rotation and we have our go to items. Like all locations you can order via a kiosk which is quick and easy especially when you just reorder the same menu items every time. Unfortunately this location is not the best. I love their soups but I swear this location serves day old French bread as the side and that is disappointing. I just can't do Panera anymore. It used to be one of my favorite chain sandwich shops, but it seems like their changes over the past year or so are completely ruining the restaurant. Between ordering, pickup, getting drinks, the process is almost completely incoherent at this point. Employees are always nice and professional, I actually feel sorry for someone who has to try and deal with such absurd changes. This restaurant chain has clearly become only about the bottom line. They haven't even gotten to the 100% DIY ordering that I recently read they are transitioning to in the news, that's a trainwreck waiting to happen. Something as simple as ordering an espresso has become tedious. Why would the person taking my order have to leave the counter and make it instead of a dedicated barista? No buzzers anymore for to go orders. Nobody asked for my name so I guess they're just going off the name on the credit card? Standing in a 3ft hallway with 8 other people also assuming someone is going to call their name. As far as food goes, some of it is still fairly good. The eggs on the breakfast sandwiches are hardly edible. Soup has a lot of salt. Fresh breads are great. The seasonal flatbread sandwich things were surprisingly really good, southwest one especially. Most of the sandwiches and salads are very good. The pasta experiment is a joke, soggy, salty, and otherwise flavorless noodles of despair. But, the deliberate transition into another soulless commercialized chain, is their undoing. Everything that originally made me want to go to panera is being deliberately tossed out in what I can only assume is some experiment to see how much profit they can create while removing as much character from the restaurant as possible. They're basically trying to create a life size vending machine which is why I'll eat somewhere else. read more

I did not have the experience of rude service or dirty tables when I visited Panera a couple of weeks ago. The service was in fact friendly and the tables and restrooms were clean. I had the Thai Chopped Chicken Salad. The salad itself was pretty good and the baguette it came with was delicious. I had been to Panera only once before for a bagel (well they aren't "real" bagels, more like big circles of bread, but still delicious!). The array of pastries looked tempting but I held off :) I would be back to try something else on the menu and snorkel some pastries if I'm feeling extra glutenous that day. read more

I used to eat here all the time. The roasted apple cheddar sandwich is divine! Cranberry bread sets it OFF! Only had one bad experience when the bread was soggy. EEEEKKKKK! Regardless of that, I still recommend it. This place is a bit pricey for what you get. A small half salad is over $7. The chicken broth bowl was pretty good. I went to Panera today for a quick bite. I ordered a small bowl of chicken soup. When my order arrived I noticed the spoon was not clean so I just washed it with water. I began eating my soup only to find the soup bowl was worse. I had this brown grunge all around the botton side. I used my finger nail and scraped it up. GROSS! Our kiosk ordered dinner was missing an entree item. This is the second time this has happened. The first time it was just a cookie. No big deal. Last night it was a whole sandwich. My boyfriend didn't notice the error until he got home. Called the store within 10 minutes of the time stamp on the receipt but it was too close to their closing for them to answer their phone apparently. Called again in the morning and was told it couldn't be refunded over the phone. We'd have to come in to the store and they would refund or give a free sandwich. It's not free. We already paid for it. It should have been sitting on your counter last night with our contact number in your kiosk system. They seem to be underutilizing their technology in this location. They don't use their order screens to make every item or verify the order is complete before handing it to the customer, they don't use their credit card processing system in a way that refunds customers without further inconveniencing them, and they don't use their telephones within 5 minutes of their closing. This was my favorite restaurant at the galleria. Waking distance from my apartment. My kids and I would eat here often. Signing off with the infamous words of every scorned yelp user "I won't be back." To other to go customers: make sure you check your order before you leave because they aren't. read more
