If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. This place is so unsanitary. My metal spoon still had stains on it and felt sticky. They didn't give my baguette and when I asked for it, they set it on the counter for me. No employee should ever place someone's food directly on the counter like that. It is absolutely disgusting. This is my second time coming into Panera Bread. The other time I went to Panera Bread was in Ohio and their service over there was great! Friendly service in Ohio is similar to the great service I had in the Bay Terrace branch. I bought the sandwich combo and this is my first time I had a cashier pull out the nutrients facts in order to find out if it has my specific allergic ingredient. I reckon the other restaurants I have been to either knew what was in the dish or guessed. I had a 1/2 almond chicken sandwich, a cup of tortilla chicken soup, and a piece of bread for $8.15. The sandwich was great although I was annoyed by the fact that it was only a half. The soup was great too. I liked the crunch I received from the taco chips in the soup. For $8.15, I don't think I got my money's worth. It is something good to have once in a while. read more

Sure, they have you check your temperature before you come in, but this place is unsanitary. Why? Not only do you clean up after yourselves, which I get, BUT NO ONE IS SANITIZING THE TABLES AFTER SOMEONE USES IT. So this is the 2nd time i have came to this Panera Bread. The 1st time service was poor, the food not that great and a long wait in line with 1 cashier working. I chose to give them another chance, and not review on my 1st visit. Im glad i did. Todays service and food was leaps and bounds better than the 1st. The wait was short, only 1 person ahead of me. When i placed my order, napa almond chicken sandwich and a peach blueberry smoothie i asked if the smoothie could be extra thick. The cashier said yes, little did i know she would be making my smoothie! Now on to the food. The sandwich was delicious! Very fresh and tasty. The smoothie was great, just what i asked for. This Panera opened recently in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center, and is a great addition to the outdoor mall. The decor is modern and appealing, and the space is much larger than it seems from the outside. It is typically busy, but there is plenty of seating. True to the bakery they boast to be, they sell loaves of bread as well as sandwiches and soups. The soups here are great, and I'd recommend getting the bread bowl. I usually get the french onion which can not be beat. I've also tried to broccoli cheddar, and it's very good, too. The sandwiches are great, too, although they can be a little dry. The sandwiches come with chips or a roll/baguette of some sort, in case you didn't get enough carbs in your sandwich. I'd recommend trying the half sandwich combo with a bowl of soup, because the sandwiches are a decent size and the soup will make up for some of its dryness. Lastly, the staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They are young, but unlike the young staff at other stores, they are enthusiastic and eager to please. If you happen to be in Bay Terrace for whatever reason and want to grab a bite to eat, I'd suggest coming here. read more

Waiting can be quite a while especially during lunch hour. Dining area is carpeted. Wanted to spend more time to study but it was so dirty, there were utensils on the floor. Tried their rapid order pickup and order online service for the first time. Apparently they messed things up by forgetting half of my order. Manager or some associate was pseudo efficient in fixing my order. Still had to wait for another 10 min when the whole point of doing this online order /rapid pick up thing was to save time. I love this Panera Bread location and enjoy the great food and friendly atmosphere and staff here. I just wish they opened their dining room for breakfast at 7am as the state guidelines for NYC are today allowing for 50% capacity. Come here all the time on the weekends for breakfast with my family. Today the cashier made it an annoying experience. Ever since they started having the high school kids work here customer service hasn't been great. Well today I told the girl that she charged me for a large coffee and not a medium when I asked for a medium. Now it's only $0.20 and I don't really care for it. But when I pointed it out she gave this attitude of "okay." And instead of asking me if I wanted the difference she just gave me a large coffee cup and didn't say anything else. read more

Love this location because they have a study corner where you can slide the glass doors for some peace and quiet. Otherwise, moms, kids and whoever else can join the usual hub bub in the main dining area. They've also added some healthy items to their menu and that is always nice. read more

I live literally 2 minutes away from this place, so the ASAP pick up is great for me, I order about 2 times a week, pastries and bread, and the bacon and egg on a brioche bun. For some reason they refuse to make enough buns for their customers, when you place an order at 8:30 am and they don't have rolls, something is radically wrong. Yes, this Bay Terrace location gets tons of customers but there is so much seating (including a Quiet Room) it's not like you're consistently standing around, food tray in hand, giving languid diners the Evil Eye. I like Panera's coffee (free refills!) & lemonades. The creamy tomato soup is filling and scrumptious. The brownies and cookies are decadent & delicious. I love this Panera Bread! It's spacious, clean, cozy and its fireplace is pretty darn cool. I totally take their bait every time I'm here to do some work- I start by getting a small coffee (coffee and tea come with free refills) and then eventually fall in their trap; I end up getting a soup and a sandwich and if I'm there long enough, I'll get a pastry. The free wifi and electrical outlets lure in a lot of students and writers. It's also common that people have their meetings here because of the communal tables they have available and the private quiet room they have in the back. I can't think of anything bad about the food here. If you love sandwiches, soups and paninis like me- you'll enjoy this place. They have not have a huge selection but the ones they have are quite tasty. In addition to their sandwiches, salads and soups, they also have a good selection of house-made breads and bagels, hence its name. read more

I have always been a fan of Panera Bread. Their coffee and pastries are delicious. I also enjoyed their salad and soup. During this visit, I saw the barista make my coffee and I have to say the baristas here are much more dedicated to their craftsmanship than the baristas at Starbucks. My coffee was made to be exactly what I wanted and they pay great attention to making coffees. The chefs that made my sandwich notified me that they are waiting for the sausage to cook and that is why my sandwich is taking a bit long to make. He even offered me a pastry because of the wait. It was great gesture to inform your customers what is going on. The manager in charge at the time of my visit was a team player. He walked around to make sure everything is order and made sure there were no garbage on the floor. This location has a great environment. read more

This place is cool. My one pet peeve is that the "Quiet" room in the back is often frequented by individuals who are conversing and studying. One would figure that given that individuals have a burning desire to shut the doors it means that they are going to be quiet; BUT, not the case. Other than that this place is an ordinary Panera with plenty of parking and a VERY knowledgable staff. The staff are helpful. Appears to be a popular post Bayside area High Schools hang out so keep that in mind if you are visiting around 3:00ish. Plenty of seats for a study break but I would recommend "PreCharging" your laptop as outlets are few and far between. read more

I somehow always find space to sit here. i wish they had more outlets even though they have a sufficient amount. it does get kinda crowded and noisy but whatever. it seems clean and that's good enough for me. one day, i guess the manager came in to film a promo and he was super nice! he was like let me help you with that, there is a seat there, etc. when he's not there, the service is still good. people here are nice. the bathrooms are clean. i love the coffee here... but i just figured out how to make the ice coffee here by myself! i've been using the hot coffee. Its a nice Panera. There is not much special difference between this Panera and other shops. Now, saying that is a high compliment in that the Panera franchise is very upstanding and very good quality. Bread is excellent. Salads are substantial and the Soups are savory. If you want to run into a classmate, teacher or neighbor you go to your local panera cause the whole town and the folks from the town over are here everyday and time of the week. I've come here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The servers that take your orders can make you feel like you're being rushed and you better get to it as you are holding up the line. Or maybe it's just me being self conscious. I've ordered a sandwich once that was not what I wanted and after picking up at the counter was able to bring it back and said: "you must think I'm a liar but I really did not order this ham sandwich even though that what the receipt reads. I actually wanted to get the turkey sandwich." And guess what? They let me keep the sandwich and made me the one I wanted! We are bummed that one of the sandwiches that we frequented - the steak and cheese pressed - is no longer on the menu. There is a similar sandwich with roast beef and cheese but it's served cold and hot steamy toasted sandwiches are so much better! Supposedly it's good to get a rewards card because you can get free pastries but I haven't activated mine and even though I spend $25+ every time I go I don't use my Panera rewards card. The coffee is really good. I always leaving with a full cup (as it's self serve) before I go! Finally, the booths (if available) are most cozy and comfy to sit! read more

Pretty good Panera bread location. It can get pretty packed here but they have plenty of room and great staff. The food is delicious and everything is made to perfection just how it should be. The only down side to my experience was that they were out of a lot of stuff. There was no lemonade or green tea. They basically just had soda and coffee. The food came out in great time--just 4 minutes. Also, nobody was wiping down the tables as people left, and that had me a little upset, so they lose a star for that. I make this Panera my once a week at least must. I love the food and it's always been fresh for me. Managers are always involved and they definitely know their regulars. Only 2 adjusts I would recommend. First tables need to be cleaned a bit more often and supplies such as stares and lids be refreshed and resupplied; I've seen it lately happen more than not that there are no lemons for tea, milk needs to be refreshed and splendas and sugars run very low. The second would be have a few more outlets in the back area where you designate for a quiet area for those customers who come to work from their laptops. Besides this it's my favorite Panera and I visit them all over the tri state area. read more

This review is more of a corporate issue than relating to the particular store and I addressed this matter to the Panera Bread Headquarters 3630 S Geyer Road #100, St. Louis, MO 63127, Attn: Customer Service Department Dear Sir or Madam: I must admit disappointment, not necessarily with one of your products, but rather with the veracity of your Customer Service Department. I have been a long time Panera Bread customer, regularly enjoying my daily Café Mocha, most often at the local store in Bayside, New York. Not that long ago, the manager of the Bay Terrace store advised the Panera Bread Corporate Office was cancelling the Café Mocha. Given this has been a staple of my daily routine, I immediately contacted the Panera Customer Service Department by phone. After over 45 minutes on hold, I finally spoke to a representative who assured me the Café Mocha was not being cancelled on a corporate level but most probably being cancelled by my particular store. I returned to speak with the manager of the Bay Terrace store who again assured me, it was not his store's decision, but rather a corporate decision. A short while later, I found myself in a different town area and visited another of your establishments in order to order a Café Mocha. Upon being served, the cashier advised with some dismay, "Enjoy it while you can, they're cancelling the Café Mocha". My complaint is two fold: 1. Why are you cancelling the Café Mocha, and would you please reverse this decision? I'm reasonably certain I'm not the only person who enjoys this particular beverage, and as a long-time customer, I would particularly appreciate being able to continue my daily brew. 2. Equally as important is my complaint about your customer service. In no realm should it take ¾ of an hour before speaking with a customer service. If that wasn't sufficient reason to compound my irritation, even more vexing was the fact the customer service representative responded with a bold face lie, attempting to turn the "blame" for the cancellation on the particular store and not the corporate office. Let's face it, if I wanted that type of customer dis-service, I would have gone to Starbucks. Please advise. The Panera Bread customer service send a boiler plate response saying sorry to see me go, not addressing their blatant disregard for the truth. Their rapid pick up service works really well. Always ready and accurate. Love the avocado, egg white, spinach breakfast sandwich. So many items are customizable which I don't think many people know about. Plus when you customize on the app you can see how the calorie count changes. Very big location with a fireplace inside so I'm looking forward to when we can eat inside again. A big shout out to Christine who works in the food prep area.
