Not sure what happened but waiting for food Thursday night was insanity. The online ordering platform said the standard 10-15 min wait time for pick up (this was at 7:30 pm). When I walked in to pick up, there was a total mob of people waiting for their orders with no explanation why they were so backed up. Turns out the order wait time was about an hour (they were calling names for 6:30 pickups and my name was called over an hour after I ordered). Plus there was no way to cancel your order. If I had known ahead of time, I'd have gone somewhere else. I thought to ask someone to cancel my order, but there was no way that was feasible. And surprisingly, my burgers were burnt and not juicy. With that many people waiting, you'd think that they would be under cooked, not overcooked (But for the first time my fries weren't overly salty and the right amount of golden). I usually like Five Guys but this last visit was not good. We went noonish on a Sunday and it was not busy. We ordered our normal little cheese burger with fries to eat in. The table we sat at was dirty and the floor was sticky. Felt like I was in a 80s movie theater! The condiment area had puddle of ketchups on the counter. When we got our burger it did not taste the same. The burger patty seemed a bit pink and had no seasoning. Also not sure if something changed with the bun or made the patties smaller but the meat to bun ratio was definitely off. Unfortunately, this is my least favorite location. I came here for a burger, Cajun fries and a shake and certain items came out wrong. The burger was messy and the toppings were spilling out of the burger as soon as I opened the foil. The flavor was good but the burger was already soggy as if they drowned it in ketchup. I was given a vanilla shake when I had asked for a salted caramel shake. They gave me regular fries instead of Cajun fries. Since I was dining in, I was able to notice all the mistakes and ask them to fix them which they did without an issue. However for the price of their burgers and the price of all the items on their menu, I expect there to be better presentation of their food. read more

I watch them handle my food. I've been to this location at least a dozen times and they are always on point. The cashier is always really friendly no matter who is there. Floors and tables always clean. The staff that's preparing food uses gloves and cover their hair. Everything is very neat. The presentation and the patty is a fail. Many years I have been a fun of this burger joint. But this time and for the second time around in this particular branch, 188th/Fresh Meadows, the burger patties were overcooked and dry. It seems like they want it to make it crispy on the sides. Also, they need to make the presentation particularly the wrapping much much better. For one, they need to maybe, get their precut foil wrapper bigger. The reason, you'll see in the picture. Since the precut is maybe too small, especially so when you have a double patty order, they will flatten the sandwich to make it fit into the wrapper. Their salt even comes with a side order of fries!!!! Their French fries is so salty that I can die of a stroke just from eating it. The employees have no sense of professionalism, no sense of urgency, they are slow, they joke around, play around, and are sloppy and messy. While I have eaten at several Five Guys locations (including this one) many times and been satisfied overall, my most recent transaction was a huge disappointment. -One burger contained the correct toppings but portions were very skimpy. -Other burger was missing ketchup and two of the four toppings selected. It contained one small, limp piece of lettuce and two pathetically tiny pieces of pickle. -While the burger patties themselves were satisfactory, the overall assembly of the burgers was haphazard and sloppy. -French fries, while plentiful, were extremely limp and greasy. Overall, the staff seemed unhappy and unmotivated. Food preparation area was not particularly tidy, the floor was littered with french fries and other food scraps. What a difference! I was just about ready to write this place off for good after my last visit but I got more than a few concerned calls from management, wanting to get to the bottom of the bad service I received and to encourage me to give them another chance to make things up. I've gone back a few random times since, and I've never again seen the snippy girl who took my order last time. In her place are servers who are nothing but warm and helpful, even with an order as simple as burgers and fries. The food has remained predictable, but in a happy way. Fries are hot and served in generous portions, and I was especially happy to watch the guy handling my burger change his meat-stained gloves before making my vegetarian one, even without my asking. My only qualms lie with the take out orders, which an be a little challenging because the paper cups that they're put in allow the fries to condensate, and then they lose that fresh-fried crispiness that makes for such good eating when dining in. Still, I'm not one to complain about the occasional flaccid fry, especially when everything is made hot and fresh. The establishment is located in the Fresh Meadow shopping center which has several other establishments to select from, which is good thing (there is a Qboba, Applebees, Red Mango, Starbucks,..) . The establishment is clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly, warm and welcoming. They were well staffed. It seems that they increased their prices on the menu. The dining area is large enough and it does have adequate seating. The orders were taken promptly and quickly. The service was good. The food came out fresh and accordingly. But for some reason felt the portions were more less than others. Another thing, this is one of the very few 5 Guys in queens that actually have the shakes, which are good. Okay so I go to five guys when I'm craving a burger and fries for an inexpensive price (that's definitely a step up from other fast food chains). The burgers may not be the most aesthetically pleasing to look at, but there's no denying that they're fresh and tasty. For $12 you can get a double cheese burger (with all the toppings you desire) and delicious Cajun fries! It's a steal really. At the end of the day, five guys is a chain so we cannot go in there expecting to have the best burger of your life-- but for the quality and value? It's a good place to feed your burger cravings.
