We stopped at Panera on our way back home from vacation and we found it very difficult to figure out how to enter the correct parking lot where the restaurant was located. Then when we ordered the food the lady taking our order was irritated that we didn't understand what she was saying as sides. When they brought our order, the manager was very impatient and the waitress questioned us twice when we told her that the soup that they brought us was the wrong one. I also asked for an extra plate which was never brought to me. The food was pretty good though. We will not be stopping at this Panera ever again! read more

So I don't understand all the bad reviews for customer service. I have dogs and called to make sure I could sit at patio even though it is 100 outside. After about 25 minutes outside I called store to ask how I order with puppies. Employee Irene came and watched puppies on patio while I went and ordered ( or they let me know they had a drive thru- then could eat at patio). They gave me water for the dogs and came out to check on me after the delicious food was delivered. I had wonton soup and the strawberry poppy seed salad. Salad was just so very delicious and then the hibiscus tea was amazing. Will be back!!!!! Customer service after I called was 100%. Just stopped on the way to Vegas. Food was good but when I bit into the turkey apple cheddar sandwich there was a cheese wrapper inside my sandwich. Not something you want to bite into. Oh, oh, oh my! Fast service, good food, great employees, tidy dining area and the CLEANEST bathroom in Barstow! We stopped at Panera, for lunch, on Monday enroute to our vacation destination. Best dining choice ever! It was fast and easy to order and the food was rapidly prepared. We greedily consumed our sandwiches & drinks on the road. The sandwiches were properly wrapped for in-car dining and the plastic cups were sturdy and did not fail during a rather rough road trip. I must admit I was thrilled at the cleanliness of the ladies bathroom. It was a welcome relief to be able to "rest" at the halfway point of our journey in a clean and properly stocked restroom. We stopped here on our return trip and had the same great experience! The on site manager was present and actively overseeing every aspect of client service. This is a successful location and I will continue to patronize it on my travels. read more

I stopped for gas and saw this across the street. I was going to go and get a sandwich at Starbucks where they are not only expensive but premade. It only took about 40 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered on their new tablets, not bad. SIKE. I could've eaten at all the restaurants around here in the time it took to get our food. Also, they gave us 1/4 of a bowl of soup that I paid $9.00 for. They screwed up the orders, sent it back twice and it was still messed. The only good thing about this place I guess is since we complained about the service, the manager offered us a pastry for free and came back with 2. Overall, 1.3 stars. read more

When we travel to Arizona from San Diego, Barstow is just about half way. This time we stopped at the Panera Bread Restaurant on the way to Arizona. We like it so much we stopped there on the way back, as well. We found the food and the service both to excellent. The employees were more than helpful and friendly. The food is very tasty and there are several choices. This restaurant will probably be our place to stop as we travel through to Arizona. Thanks for the great service and food! Basically every thing that could've went wrong, went wrong, my biggest nightmares about a restaurant in Barstow came true. So much so that I downloaded this app just to warn others. First of all I got water, I only drink water, it tasted absolutely disgusting. I added lemons, which I always look forward to when eating at Panera, they were incredibly soggy and way to squishy to be even close to fresh. I always get Mac and Cheese at other locations, but this one was way to soggy and clumpy. I always look forward to my bread with my meal, it was cold, it had to have been refrigerated, had too. On top of that, it was burnt and hard as a rock. My pastry, which I always also look forward too, was stale also. If my meal wasn't unappetizing enough, the Soba Bowl my boyfriend got, which was a soup recommended by the employees, looked nothing like it sounded like. The soup and noodles were nearly black and it was incredibly unappetizing. But it wasn't just the looks, not so great tasting either. So he told the manager, who was not apologetic or kind at all, and got something else. If I had to say one positive thing about my experience at the Barstow Panera, it would be that most of the employees were nice, excluding the Manager of course. read more

I've been to this Panera several times. The service is consistently good. They even have a drive through but I usually eat inside. It's winter so I've been getting the chicken noodle soup with a french baguette. Sometimes, I also pay $.99 for a baked item too. The past couple dog times I got a yummy Christmas cookie. This is probably the first one star review I feel I need to write immediately. I had the worst experience at panera tonight. I wanted to give them some slack because they are a new store so I understand there's going to be some minor setbacks. Well, they didn't have minor setbacks, they had major ones that I think are unacceptable when running a restaurant. The servers manning the registers didn't know what items they were out of or how to describe the items on the menu. My husband asked if they had any tomato based pastas and she looked confused and said she didn't know, then proceeded to look at a little booklet, couldn't find it, then asked the manager. The manager didn't come over to clarify, she just answered the server and left. We waited for our food for 30 minutes while we observed numerous customers come in from the drive thru to tell them their order was wrong. The worker who was suppose to be expediting the food stood lazily and chatted with the cooks while food was waiting in the window. We asked for a refund to cancel our order because of all the chaos and the manager did it but she said she couldn't give us a receipt because the printer tape went out. We had to ask her multiple times to get us a copy and she finally said she could try to get it from the back. I could go on but these are the main complaints. Will not be back here again. read more

I'm a Panera regular in my area, so visiting this one before hitting the shops was a no brainer. My mother (a customer service manager at a large company) and I were thoroughly impressed with the service. I made a mistake in my order, and they were willing to change my mistake (after the order was complete) at no additional cost (there was a price difference of less than $1). Came here tonight to grab some dinner on my way home from vegas and I was completely appalled by the service. First off, when my mom and I walked in, the employee shreeked when she saw us! She was obviously disappointed to see us. It was 8:30 pm!! That's an hour and a half hour before closing!! If I walked in at 9:55 I would understand her frustration and even then that type of response is still unacceptable! She then went to the back and left us standing in front of the register. She did not greet us. When she finally came out to take our order she was so rude! Did not make eye contact, tone of voice was really irritated and really wanted nothing to do with taking our order. I asked her a couple of questions about what was in a couple of the salads since it wasn't listed on the menu and she annoyingly looked It up on the computer, and listed the ingredients off to me while she was looking away!!! I turned to my mom and whispered to her that I didn't like the way she was treating us and I wanted to leave. So we left and went to chipotle instead. When we got here we had no friendly service. Employee did say hi but didn't seem to happy to be at work. Store was a mess and the manager was rude to other guest when it was brought to her attention that the restrooms were a mess. She said that they check it 2x every hour. (It really didn't seem like it's been touched in a couple hours) the food looked like it was just tossed together. I had tried to ask ahead of time if we can switch the Apple with our order to bread. The manager said, "thanks for telling me ahead of time!" and slammed the bread in the plate. On top of it the bread was hard as a rock. No friendly service, no thanks no nothing. Stopped in with my friend and our hungry kids. Everyone wanted Mac and cheese. We place our orders and we're told we could pick it up at the pick up window. As we go to the pick up area the General Manager Tim was calling out the names and giving everyone their orders. He was rude, condescending and his overall demeanor was he is a jerk! My friend did not see her name on the board and she said to him "oh, did you call my name?" He said with a total douche attitude "no, you guys ordered a lot of Mac and cheese and it takes a while to cook". She said "okay, I was just asking cause I don't see my name up there anymore and I had walked away" he snapped back "that's because she bagging it right now!". Ummm, excuse me Mr. Tim, we do not work for Panera so therefore we do not know your process. Looking at the other reviews of RUDE employees and bad customer service I completely understand why. They have a jerk for a leader. It starts at the top. If he's that big of a jerk to customers I can't imagine how he treats his staff.
