Was feeling hungry on the way home from Vegas and just had to stop at the Original Del Taco. This place was absolutely delicious and the food was fresh and packed with flavor. The line may have looked long, but the wait was short. The ambiance is true to Ed's words and you truly do feel like family while you are here. We tried the Barstow Tacos, Taco Burger, and Barstow Tostada. It's hard to pick a favorite because each one was as delicious as the other. Will definitely be making this stop again.
Nothing ever beats the original. Their food is fresh, flavorful and reasonably priced. The dining area is squeaky clean and ice cold which is important when in the middle of the drsert. Service is quick and served by friendly and welcoming staff. I never hesitate to visit when going up or back from Vegas.
Driving home from Vegas Monday night and needed some grub and a bathroom. Me and my friend decided on THEE Original Del Taco; at least that's what I've ALWAYS heard. I'm not sure what prompted me to do a search about it but I did.... Say WHAT!? The current location is NOT the original one. (see screenshot) *mind blown* I digress.... I'm sure I've been here many years ago in my early 20's during some of my many road trips to Vegas but I was shocked at how STUFFED FULL all of their items were. My friend said that's what they're known for. I got the bun taco, soft chicken tacos and carnitas burrito. I couldn't believe how huge the chicken taco and carnitas burrito were!! They don't skimp on the cheese either, you can never have too much cheese in my opinion. I could only manage a couple of bite out of the burrito so I brought the rest home for the next day. Each table has their own personal sauce baskets! The bathrooms were clean as was the restaurant. I was just disappointed they didn't have the orange cream shake available while we were there.
Well, if you know me, you know I'm not much (if at all) into fast food. However, driving from Vegas back home has its perks. Who knew this was a little gem way out in Barstow. I heard about this place from my husband who in turn heard some good reviews from some friends, so we decided to stop and try a few tacos. It definitely brought me back to my high school days, the tacos were amazing! You actually get a lot too, everything tastes fresh and really good! I'm not saying it's the healthiest food choice around but it sure was good and if you're in that area or stopping through, it's worth it to stop and enjoy a taco or two. Hot sauce is pretty good as well, overall I'd come back should I travel this way again.
I was a bit skeptical, but this Del Taco visit has long been on the hubby's list, and we finally made it. This is not at all like the Del Taco chains dotted throughout the U.S. This is apparently one of the original locations and the quality and pride of that shows here. We ordered the Del Cheeseburger, fries, Strawberry Lemonade, Spicy Jack Quesadilla, and a Bun Taco. The portions were generously packed with plenty of meat and cheese and fresh tasting ingredients. The food here is noticeably better than the Del Tacos in our neighborhood. The quality, friendly staff, and quick service was excellent. Bathrooms and the dining room were a bit unkept when we arrived for lunch, but mid-meal, the staff quickly cleaned the tables efficiently. Definitely a great place to stop on your road trip!
This was my first time at Del Taco located in Barstow, CA at their Lynwood Rd location. I was passing by and decided to get a quick bite before heading to LV NV. 3/5 Service The younger male cashier needs better customer service skills. When taking people's orders, he looked like he was zoning out. It was so busy, packed I managed to find a place to sit and eat. 5/5 Food Their food tasted a lot fresher and way better and the generous amount of cheese they put on. 5/5 Salsa you have access to unlimited salsa packets, which is unheard of. 5/5 Location This has to be the best Del Taco I've ever been to. If you're passing by or in the area, I 100% recommend coming here. Also, their legendary OG location is nearby too, you can pick up a couple of their Merch's or 2. If every Del Taco location was like this, I bet their sales would be booming. I'm looking forward to visiting the location again. Thank you for a wonderful quick bite lunch.
One of the original Del tacos. My go to stop on my way to Vegas. It's not your regular Del taco. The meat. Taste fresh. And they give you a lot of beef. Cheese and the veggies all just taste better. Shell crunchier. The size. It's huge. If only every Del taco tasted like this.
Always our first stop heading into Vegas absolutely love this Del taco it's always a bit busy but customer service is always great. Restaurant is always clean. Service is really fast. Food is delicious. Always a great vibe. Gotta love the history
Never in a million years would I have thought I would be enjoying taco mix stuffed between two buns... So apparently this is one of the original Del Tacos that were kept outside the corporate realm remaining in full control by the original franchisee. The carnitas burrito was packed with protein...the Bun Taco was ...wow...I haven't taken a puff weed in ages, well one because I'm trucking, and two I'm too lazy to get bongs, buds, paper all that shenanigans...but I will say this, if I had known this place existed back during the early days of going to community college and lighting one up on the weekends.....this is perfect weed food. Just sayin... Think anyone driving down the i15 should visit this historic site!
Food is always good here. We like stopping on the way to Vegas. What is fun is how they have the old classics like the bin taco, taco salad and combo cup. Staff is friendly with quick service. The restaurant is very clean. Stop in!
Stopped by on our way to Las Vegas for a quick bite of nostalgia. You see, growing up in Phoenix, we didn't have Del Taco back then. The closest location was in Blythe, Ca. Of course we'd always stop there for a tasty snack. I'd usually opt for a cheese quesadilla with green sauce and a cup of refried beans topped with red sauce. So good! Anyways, I didn't get the bean and cheese cup on this trip but definitely got the cheese quesadilla. Also a Barstow Taco and a red burrito (bean and cheese with red or green sauce). Everything tasted fresh and delicious. While sometimes the line goes out the door and the place gets packed, the counter and kitchen move at lightning speed. We had our order within about 3 minutes of ordering. Bathrooms and dining room are spotless, so a great place to stop on your road trip! Oh, they also have baskets or sauce packets on every table! So much to love! At the end of the day, it's still Del Taco, not a lot of difference between corp and original.
* One of the Original Barstow Del Tacos - Don't Miss It!* Stopped at the Del Taco in the Barstow Outlets today, and this is one of the two original locations in the Barstow area. You can tell immediately. The menu has items here you won't find at other Del Tacos, and everything hits different. Tacos come loaded with heavier meat than the standard ones, same with the burritos - they're packed. It's always nice coming here. Clean, fast service, and the staff work fast If you're driving the I-15 toward Las Vegas, don't pass this one up. It's a true Barstow staple and way better than the chain spots off the next exit. Been coming here for years and it never misses.
Always love stopping in Barstow for the original Del Taco experience. The lady at the register this after was a bit grumpy, but as always, the food was spectacular! Maybe she just had an off day. Love this location for the decor.

I wish I would have taken a few pics of our food, but I forgot. This place is awesome! They have a special menu with bigger portions and better tasting. Loved everything we ordered. They staff is super friendly too! read more
I will preface this by saying Del Taco has never been on my rotation of fast food restaurants that I visit, but I had to try the original. I visited on a weeknight and the staff were very attentive and fast and courteous. I tried the Barstow tostada and the taco. I thought they were ok and pretty basic and used a lot of their hot sauce packets. I love that each table had a basket full of salsa packets as I ran through them pretty quickly. Since this location is located right off the freeway, I would say it's a good snack to hold you over until you get to Vegas or back home if you're on a long drive. It doesn't upset the stomach and it's filling without making you feel disgustingly full. If you're in a rush get it to-go and if you choose to dine-in, there's plenty of indoor seating and even an area that's a little separated from the main dining room so it's great for large parties or bus loads of people. Inside it's a throwback to the past which I'm not mad at. It's a museum of sorts with pictures of important people that made Del Taco and citizens of Barstow as well as race cars. Also, restrooms, great place to stop and use the restrooms since it's clean. If you visit Barstow it's a must try attraction. read more

Message to Corporate Del Taco....take notes from the 3 Barstow ,Ca locations... where these 3 are the only locations still run by original founder, original recipes, original ration sizes, original menu, friendly service , servers still bring food to table, 80s 90s vibe/decor still. I swear it was like In n Out packed, even like 20+ employees. Right off the bat I could tell the difference, my usual order of a beef burrito at a corporate run place takes like 5 bites to finish, this one 10 bites , they still give you the taco in the combo meal here, and sauce packets still out in open read more

Still a stop on the way to Vegas. A little disappointed though the tacos are smaller. Still bigger than your standard Del taco, but was sad. You could usually order one and be full as if you had two. I'm sure inflation is causing the changes. Still a good stop on the way. read more
Best Del Taco! The chicken taco's had so much chicken and cheese on them like they used to have back in the days! And so yummy as well! These are my favorite! Service was fast and staff was polite & friendly. It quite a large place so it's nice to eat inside. If you're ever on your way to Vegas make sure and stop at Theo Del Taco! read more

Inside was clean, staff members were kinda rude but the tacos were filled well and they had plenty of sauces available. I asked if I could use my Del Taco app for reward points and the guy at the cou tet said we don't use the app here, which I found very odd. Quick pit stop don't expect greatness. read more

Note: THEY DO NOT ACCEPT COUPONS THAT YOU GET IN THE MAIL! They are not affiliated with corporate del taco, so coupons won't work here. A little bit of a bummer.. I'm a diehard Del Taco fan. I'm always defending the Del Scorcho's pride. No one can ever say that other place (Taco Bell) is any better. Please. So happy to try out THE ORIGINAL DEL TACO WOOHOOO!!!!! This spot is located in the heart of the Barstow fast food galore, so there's lots of other options if others in your party are not interested...though why would they not be interested....You can get some things here you can't find anywhere else! The inside decor is unlike any other del taco. Filled with history and nostalgia, a old-school diner feel. Taco Bun (10/10)- FOUND NOWHERE ELSE! - Literally the taco, except in burger buns....so good! I'm not biased... - They pack it with meat, cheese, tomatoes. wow so good - Top it off with some Ketchup + Del SCORCHO (medium), and I'm in heaven. Love this place. Just a little sad couldn't use coupons, but that's ok. read more

One of my favorite fast food places is Del Taco and I just had this in Barstow for an early snack before my late dinner. Haven't eaten all day so I wanted to just grab a quick bite before getting to Las Vegas. We went through the drive and it was fast and easy. My chili cheese fries were fresh and loaded up to the max!! The box felt like it had a lot of weight in it. Also, all the food was super hot and just so enjoyable. I never had a Del Taco like this and would come back here. read more
If you've ever been to Tustin California, there's a Del taco on Red Hill blvd and I lived in the apartments right behind them through high school. It was just my Dad and I, no Mom cooking up good dinners. So to me, Del Taco was Moms home cooking. I would eat a breakfast burrito on the way to school, they put crinkle fries in them in those days. On the way home i would grab a green burrito and for $.99 a large fries, which filled a 32 oz cup in those days. Imagine my surprise when on the way home from Las Vegas in college we stopped at the GOAT of Del Tacos off of Lenwood. Those Barstow tacos loaded with a half pound of meat and the same amount of cheese. Workers coming to our table and refilling our drinks! I could not believe how amazing this place was and the rest of my life if I was near this location I 100% stopped to eat. Now I'm in my mid 40's and I don't really eat fast food anymore so it had been years since I ate here. Until today! The first thing I noticed was the workers were not as friendly as they used to be. No one came to my table to see if we were happy or if we needed a refill. In fact I ordered a bean burrito with no cheese and the lady running the show behind the counter was cranky because her burrito was dripping beans everywhere and i took it back for a well made one and she was legit offended I called her out on her half ass bean skills. By the way, their bean and cheese Burritos are literally like nine beans in a tortilla and about a pound of cheese. If you don't get cheese, there's not much going on, their beans are so runny at this location. It ain't what it used to be but it's still the GOAT of Del Tacos. read more

The freshest tasting del taco location most likely because it's the original location or one of them from what I've read. The tacos here are meaty! And you can actually see the texture of the freshly cooked beef because it didn't come from a premade bag. At least that's what It seems like. The beef also is not overly salted. I also love that they have fresh scooped ice cream! Definitely worth a stop when you're driving through. Would come back just for these tacos. read more

I grew up eating Del Taco and this location on Lenwood in Barstow is absolutely hands down THE BEST Del Taco. It is a must stop location between Orange County and Las Vegas and driving trips are specifically timed so that we will be hungry when we hit Barstow just to stop at this Del Taco. I've had a number of menu items here over the years, but my favorite is the Barstow Taco. It's a crunchy taco that is loaded with ground beef, shredded lettuce, shredded cheese, and a tomato slice on top. This taco is MUCH bigger than tacos at other Del Tacos. I can eat two if I'm really starving. They also have a Barstow Chicken Soft Taco which is also very good and much larger than chicken soft tacos at other Del Tacos. This location also still has the old school giant Macho Burritos and Pintos & Cheese in a cup. I used to love Pintos & Cheese when I was a kid; the way the red sauce, beans, and cheese all mixed together is so perfect. This is a busy location, but don't let a long line to order deter you. The line moves fast and the food comes out even faster! They give you a table number upon ordering and bring your food to you. Baskets with condiments and napkins are on every table. They have water cups sitting out so you don't need to ask for them. They also have really good ice at this location. The bathrooms are huge for a fast food place and are always well stocked. It's always a good time stopping by the Del Taco on Lenwood in Barstow! read more

Del Taco is one of those places that take me back to high school. It's good food, maybe not traditional Mexican food but just as delightful. Going back to one of the original locations is just nostalgia fun. This spot is always busy but worth the quality of tasty food. Passing through since I moved out of state I am guaranteed a few things first clean location. Second, the same original feel as when I was in high school, minus the speed bumps at the Del taco near my high school. And finally great customer service with efficiency and speed. read more
5 star gluttony at your service. Everyone at this place eats with wild abandon and no remorse for the ramifications. Your typical guest will order between 50% and 100% more than they would order at a normal Del Taco in OC. Everything here is bigger, better tasting and deliscious! Service is always great and the place is clean! And if you are lucky, you may run into Ed, THE Founder of Del taco. read more
We love this place. We frequent this location. I don't know what it is, but this location is the only one with the best food. The green burritos and Barstow tacos are the best. Service is quick no matter how long the line is inside. There is a drive thru. Today is super packed 12/27/2024. It is clean inside. Lots of salsas ready for you to choose from. Staff is nice and clean. Restaurant is equipped for many customers. read more

Wow! The food here is great! This is not at all like the Del Taco chains everywhere! This is one of the two original locations at Barstow. They kept the original recipes with real ingredients! Can't say enough good things about the food and the service! Even the coffee was good!! Customer service was super nice and there was always someone cleaning tables and picking up dirty trays. We will be coming back every time we are in this area, which is often during the winter! read more
The food here is a 100 times better than any Del Taco I've been to. Always have to make a stop here coming home from Vegas. Service is great, restaurant is clean and the food is excellent. The burritos are not half filled like every where else, even had to get one to go! read more
