Stopped here between Vegas and SoCal just to give all the eating establishments off the Lenwood exit a chance. It's a little unfair, as I can go to "the" original Tommy's whenever I'm in the area, and there's something about the original that you just can't match. Similar to Five Guys (though I think these guys came before Five Guys), everything is a double burger. What's different is the chili! While people try to eat this burger with their hands, it's meant to be eaten with a fork. As I just don't eat that much anymore, I was able to get just a single burger. My dining partner got the cheeseburger with everything. The food was good, but messy. Loved the fries. Sadly, unless a place is so amazingly good that it overshadows the fact that I'm drinking Diet Pepsi instead of Coke, it will cost a star. read more

Dine in: May 15, 2026 It's my first time trying the Original Tommy's burger restaurant. We came here specifically for the 80 cent chili cheeseburgers deal for their 80th anniversary. There was so many people waiting in line to order and also waiting for there foods. The hype of the chili cheeseburgers isn't even that awesome. It was a waste of my 2 hours+ for the foods that taste similar to sloppy joe from the cafeteria. It felt so suffocating waiting for our foods since there's so many people already waiting before us. The lighting was bright and it's pretty spacious but felt pretty off with everyone still waiting 2-3 hours+ for their orders. Its very chaotic while several customer's were going nuts because of the wait. While they were complaining to staff members when their foods coming out. We almost got our foods sooner but several women's when off on the staff for waiting x amount of hours and still didn't get the orders yet. We ended up having to wait until 10:33pm to get all our orders. We requested to get french fries first which was around 10:13pm since we're hungry. But mind you we been here waiting since 8:04pm for the whole order. We finally took our first chili cheeseburgers bite at 10:38pm. We left the restaurant by 10:59pm/11pm. The fries we requested at around 10:13pm was hot and fresh. By the time our whole order was ready to be called for us to pick up at the front counter. The batch of fries inside the box was already cold & old which tasted soggy and nasty. I don't understand how it wasn't even fresh at all since we were like the last few 10 customers left out of a few hundred after the 5pm - 7pm rush hour slot was over. We landed in the 8pm slot with only about 10 customers left or so. The customers was greedy as well who ordered multiple foods on different receipts. There was some who had stacks of receipts just for the chili cheeseburgers alone. We came here for the chili cheeseburgers(8), fries(4), Large drinks(2), and an ice cream cone but they only had cups(1). Most people only came here for the chili cheeseburgers only. The cash register lady told us we can purchase a multiple of 10 burgers per receipts. We only got 8 chili cheeseburgers since everyone was hypeing how great it was. It was just a big fat disappointment. You can literally get it elsewhere with better service and fresher taste. The chili cheeseburgers alone had so little bits of ground meat in it. I literally thought it would be on the chunky side but nope. The beef patty was small like the size of a hamburger patty at McDonald's. The buns is the only thing that was big which made the burgers looked big. They only put so little chili on each burgers as well. So the ingredients to me personally seems a bit on the cheaper side not worth the time and effort. I really don't understand how people hype how good their burgers are. The burgers and fries did not taste as fresh as I thought it would be. Everyone who's exaggerated about the chili cheeseburgers need to rethink it again. There are better burgers that taste more delicious and a bigger portion. My overall experience was definitely not that wonderful. I personally would not recommend this restaurant in general. The staff wasn't all that nice and friendly. I really don't understand the disorganized staff members and the food order arrangement was not coming out in an orderly manner. There was no intercom to call out your number. Everyone waited too long for their orders. They should have capped the multiple transactions for each customer to only one per visit. Then again everyone was so greedy. I just wondered if they were all going to eat it in one sitting. We couldn't even finish all our foods which we took the rest home for later in the week. I know we were greedy too but at least we did not have multiple receipts. The food was not completely fresh eventhough we waited for hours for the completed food order. You literally thought since they were busy shouldn't the foods be hot and fresh too. I personally think they gave us other people leftovers who ordered something differently and requested a redo for their burgers. I'm 100% sure they repackaged it with a new wrapper and gave it to us so we can consume it. I hope it's not true. I see it all the time when it usually happens behind the seen because the workers too lazy to cook more. I actually got one chili cheeseburgers with missing half a patty. I really don't know what happened to it but it was missing. So I'm assuming it probably dropped or so and they were too lazy to make more. After we got back home I had a tummy ache. I ended up having a massive diarrhea. It's a good thing I made it home before it ended up on myself. I'm thinking the chili kicked in. I will not come back here again at all. This is probably one of those places that kids ate at growing up and have a nostalgic connection to? I have nothing against a chili burger, but even in my tipsy state, I couldn't eat this burger. The texture of the chili is like mild-flavored beef paste - and they put a lot on the burger. The bun is pretty standard fast food burger bun. The tomato slice and pickle were in good shape. The fries were fine. Only Pepsi products. 1/4 pound Tommy Burger (beef patty with the "chili" paste spread on top, American cheese, diced onions, mustard, tomato and pickle) was $6.75, regular fries $4.85, Med Pepsi $3.75. I stopped in Barstow for a quick meal. They have 3 Locations Including Barstow, CA, Las Vegas,NV and Henderson,NV. I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich muffin. This has always been my number one place to come and eat. But today we had the worst experience ever. My hamburger was supposed to be cut in two and the cook that cut it didn't take his time to do it the right way. We couldn't even fine the way to start eating it. We did get a fresh one made but it was not the same anymore, we didn't eat anymore. Then, the homeless come in al smelling bad and touching the fountain drinks. I stopped by Tommy's to grab a bit to eat while in Barstow. I ordered chili cheese beef tamales and a medium chili. I've heard this place is pretty good so I definitely had to try it out. The chili cheese tamales are delicious they even put onions, picked and a tomato slice on top. The chili is definitely made as a topper for a dish and in my opinion not to be eaten alone. I know, I know, you're probably like what am I talking about? Well, the chili is extremely thick and the texture is more like a paste nit anything like you average chili. It's tastes good, it's just a texture thing for me. The inside is pretty basic for a fast food join it was I will say it is every clean inside and the staff a super friendly and brought my food to the car. Almost no other place but Denny's was open in Barstow or in Victorville, so we appreciated being able to assuage our hunger during a late dinner here. But pickle chips inside a cold, plain bun were very good, along with a fresh slice of tomato, a slice of cheese, and White Onion squares. French Fries were tender and okay, but there were not enough of them. A Chili Dog contained rather spicy but good bean-free Chili, tasty pickle chips, a large fresh slice of tomato, pieces of White Onion, and a thin hot dog nestled inside a plain bun at room temperature. The wiener impressively yielded a noticeable snap when biting into its casing. Workers here were industrious and friendly. This staff was super friendly and super responsive to this seasoned customer. I knew what I wanted, and they didn't hesitate to fill my request. The fries were cooked borderline well-done so it held strong against the drench of the chili topping. The patty was cooked a perfect medium and the chili elevated its overall flavor. This is Tommy's burger, indeed! FOOD: 5. Albeit 2-3 hours away from its original stand, it tastes exactly as it should! SERVICE: 3. Not a lot of interaction. I have been dreaming about the breakfast burrito since I saw it on tiktok. I knew there was one in Barstow so I made a stop between Las Vegas and San Diego. The woman (probably the mgr) was rude and I'm not sure why. Maybe because I tried paying with Amex, which they don't take? Got my burrito and was excited, though it seemed super small and skinny compared to what I'd seen posted on social media. Opened it up, neither side of the tortilla was folded (it was open on both sides- rolled like a rolled taco, not folded so all the fillings would totally fall out). Then I strategically ate it because of this, when I discovered whoever built the burrito either didn't on purpose to troll me, or had never built a burrito. The eggs were in the top 1/3, the sausage was scooped in the middle 1/3, and the chili was scooped in the bottom 1/3. I essentially ate tortilla+egg, then tortilla+sausage, then tortilla+chili. I threw it out (they don't have hot sauce I guess) so it would've been dry to eat anyways. Definitely a waste of $10 and 10 minutes. I guess I got to use the bathroom during my long drive though! Other Tommy's locations must be better- I can't imagine this burrito construction would be acceptable elsewhere. Nowadays, they've expanded, added indoor seating AANNDD fries to their menu, along with breakfast items. The quality was always the same across the board. Sad to say on a recent visit to Vegas, decided to relive the college glory days with a stop at Tommy's in Barstow. Should've stuck with old faithful. Upon entering, we noticed there was next to no one dining and were kinda wondering if they were even open. We found one gentleman in the corner and a few employees in the back kitchen area. After looking over the menu, we decided on just a quick bite, chili cheese burger and a double chili cheese. When the burgers came out, I was in Heaven. I could smell that chili and it was oozing all over the burgers. First bite, just as I remembered from years ago. Halfway thru the burger is when the reminiscing came to a screeching halt. No more chili! It's like they wrapped the burger with just a side of the burger peeking thru the wrapper and spooned chili over the top. The entire second half of the CHILI cheese burger had no chili! When I had these in the past at the original location, there was so much chili throughout you'd end up licking it off your fingers after it oozed all over your had with each and every bite.... This is our go-to stop anytime we're driving to (or from) Las Vegas. While there's several other familiar franchise restaurants in Barstow, as the lead driver, their chili cheese fries has kept my energy going in the final stretch back to Los Angeles. While it's a typical greasy spoon, it's a go-to if your party likes chili. The prices are pretty fair. The seating area is pretty standard for most greasy spoons. It's allright, and still clean. I have been a fan of Tommy's since the 80's (and I haven't had a heart attack yet!) Tommy's chili will make it or break it for you. Most people love (or at least like) it, but not everyone. My biggest tip is: get the chili ON THE SIDE. You can glop as much or as little as you want on the burger or dog without making a soaking mess of it. Toppings include onions, Tomatoes, mustard and pickles. I personally order the chili AND cheese on the side. It is great by itself with the fries (some of the best fries out there IMO). If I order a burger, I order cheese on the burger and on the side of chili. Hot dog: I just order it on the side with the chili. If you like chili in general, Tommy's is a "must try". A combo is about $15 (almost double what it cost 8-10 years ago), but it is a tasty treat! read more

Like most of my meal experiences, I was passing through for work. Seen this on the ol' Yelparoonie. So I figured I would road test it. I ordered the #4 cheese burger, fries and a drink. And I see a chili dog on the menu, so you know I have to try that. For all that it was roughly 20.00. Is what it is. The cheese burger was good. Lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. And it wasn't just a hot dog. This bad mamma jamma had a snap to it. Borderline pop. The cheese was melted under the chili. Had a sprinkle of onions. A few slices of delicious pickle and the cherry on top was a slice of tomato. The chili dog was definitely the star of this indulgences. So in the end, get the chili dog.
