Omg when did el pollo loco upgrade the menu items I was honestly shocked to see the amount of food that my order came with I haven't had el pollo loco since I was in middle school and I just so happen to try them on my way back to vegas , it was good and plentiful, I would say I don't care for the area cause it was in between rest stops and driving but the food and service it self was fast and taste fresh and the option was good enough for 2 settings. Love this location! It was so clean - the dining area & woman's restroom. The associate that served us was doing double duty cleaning the dining area as we entered, and she was smiling throughout our visit. Stopped in Barstow to get gas and grabbed a quick lunch here. They have a pretty spacious parking lot and a restroom (be warned that it was stinky in there). Ordered through their app easily and pickup was smooth too. They did forget the guac that I ordered but the staff was quick in apologizing and giving it to us on the side. The girl was very friendly. I didn't have any issues with the driver thru. I ordered Double chicken tostada salad with no sour cream, extra avocado. They put the rest on the side. My issue is that first I was hungry as I hadn't eaten all day and it was after 9 pm. Now, the shell was stale, the chicken was hard. It was like picking thru the salad and it was terrible. The lettuce was awful. More harder pieces than actual lettuce. I paid 15 and change for a disgusting salad. The fresco they give you was frozen. So my experience for the first time eating here was awful. Well, they asked me contact them , so I did and it says rejected. Hmmm go figure read more

This review is long overdue. This has been our go to fast food restaurant on the road if we are driving through Barstow. Not all El Pollo Loco's are the same. The quality of the chicken can vary widely. This one is always top notch. Their chicken is always very well grilled and delicious. Food is usually ready very quickly. The one time we had to wait because they were out of legs and thighs, they apologized profusely and gave us a big free salad as compensation while we waited for them to grill the chicken. Their sides are also very good, I especially like their corn which is mixed with diced red peppers and cooked in a buttery sauce. The staff is usually nice and friendly. The restaurant is very clean. I always ring their bell on the way out to show my appreciation. read more

I first want to say that we love the food at Pollo Loco. That has nothing to do with this review. I want to mention about the management. We have gone into this location plenty of times. But recently the male manager that runs the register is just awful. The way he treats the customers is horrible. In a lot of way he is belittling them. If you are looking for a place to sit and enjoy your food then don't stop here. I was very disappointed. I shouldn't have to go to a business to spend my money on food and be treated wrongly. Also he doesn't treat his coworker very well. It was seen by someone that was in our party that there was problems between them. So sad. read more

I often stop at El Pollo Loco wherever I might happen to be for a quick, inexpensive and healthy meal. The menu is basically the same everywhere, but there are variations in quality from one location to the next and prices also do vary by location. I stopped at this particular location because it is a convenient stop along the I-15 on the way to Las Vegas. I found it to be neat and clean and well maintained. I presume it can get very crowded here depending on traffic conditions, but it wasn't bad the day I was there. So I should've known better than to stop at El Pollo Loco off the freeway in Barstow CA. Look I get it, everyone is short staffed. We waited for 10 min at the front window. There was no one in front of us. A simple I'll be with you in a moment is just common courtesy. We had the chicken avacado tacos which were cold and not cooked, The chicken salad was decent. The birria tacos are suppose to be hot and the cheese is melted. We'll look at the pic. Traditionally El pollo locos are consistent, this one was substandard. 2 stars because the salad was fair other wise would of been 1 star. Stopped here for lunch on the way back from Las Vegas. Normally I stop at In n Out but decided to change things up a bit. Love how they had decorated for Christmas, even had a Christmas tree. I got a chicken breast and a wing. Prices were higher than expected. Not sure if it's this location or because the pandemic caused price increases. Portions were smaller than expected. At the El Apollo I go to, I 'm never able to finish a breast so gave the rest of it and wing for another meal. At this one, I devoured these skinny pieces. I also got a cup of Mexican Hot Chocolate. It's a new item so don't assume I'm calling it Mexican because it's El Pollo. It's listed as that on the menu board. I love Mexican Hit Chocolate. This was pretty good with hints of cinnamon. Both sandwiches were packed with meat/ chicken and on top of that they both came out hot and ready to devour. The bread was succulent and a good amount of mayo and ketchup was added. All in all this is the experience we had been wanting to have and I'm so glad we went back. Thank you to Henry, again, for going out of his way to make us feel welcomed and well attended. He was happy to have us back and we felt very appreciated as customers. Can't wait to come back and try other sandwiches!

Two years ago it changed ownership. Basically the same menu items, but better rotisserie chicken, according to the chef himself. The man behind the counter said he worked there when it used to be Juan Pollo. His friend had bought the business, and they added something to the ingredients making their rotisserie chickens taste even better than the original. Well, the man wasn't lying. The chicken is freshly made, moist, juicy, tender, and very flavorful. Perfectly seasoned and roasted with a nice brown on the skins. It definitely has better flavors than the boring Costco's chicken. On Tuesdays they offer a deal of 2 whole chickens for $25, a $3 savings. We also got free flour tortillas and salsa. Corn tortillas are available as well. We ordered a small side of potato salad, beans, and 2 extra salsas. Extra salsa in a small container is $1.50 each. A bit pricey as you can get a tub of salsa cheaper at some grocery stores. Our total was less than $40. It fed 3 grown men with still plenty of leftovers. It was a very good decision to get Rostichicken as all 3 of us enjoyed the food. My one friend is extremely picky and wasn't even convinced about Rostichicken. He said he was gonna eat his spaghetti leftovers. But once he tried the chicken, he decided to make himself some chicken tacos. He agreed that the chicken tastes really good. I like my chicken with lemon, because it makes it that much better!! I also ate my chicken with garlic spread (toumiya) that I bought from a grocery store. Perfection!! I prefer dark meat, but their chicken breast is so moist, tender, and flavorful that I enjoyed every bite. This is a fast food place, so very quick service. All he needs to do is cut up the whole chickens and wrap them up. They offer daily specials, so you can find one that suits your family needs. There's a small seating area inside the restaurant, and I have dined in here before a very long time ago. The place literally looks the same as twenty years ago. They do accept credit cards with 3% fees, so it's nice if you don't have cash on hand.
