I have received a few gift cards to Panera and I finally used one (one that I got over a year ago, lol.) This location here in Auburn is located off of highway 49 and Bell, next to McDonald's. Parking is very limited if you are trying to park right in front, but if you don't mind the walk, there is plenty everywhere else. I like that there is an option for outdoor seating and that there is a drive thru available... which I have never used. It is probably convenient if you use the Panera app, where you can earn points on every order you make on it. On my visit, the gift card I was given was malfunctioning while I was trying to use the self serve computers where you can put an order in yourself. So I had to wait a few minutes for the employee cleaning to come back. It was malfunctioning for them a well and it needed to be put in manually. There were 3 team members that helped us and it was all pretty confusing. After we ordered a bread bowl of Mac & Cheese with extra bacon and a Chicken Roma Asiago Bagel Stack... we sat at a clean table and waited a short time. At the pick up window (inside), there are condiments and pasticware available if you think you need them. The registers and pick up window inside were separated by walls from the dining room. I got a few bites of the Mac & Cheese. It was not mushy like I imagined. It was good. The chicken bagel stack was really delicious, but kind of all over the plate. The spring mix was spread out on the plate and I had to put it inside the bagel sandwich. The dressing in it meshed so well with all the flavors. There was also cheese inside, but some of the ingredients didn't spread out over the bagel enough... for example, the tomatoes were pretty small. Overall, delicious food, clean location, and service was great when I needed help with the malfunctioning gift card. Just when I thought there was nothing I liked here at Panera... along came the Bagel Stacks. Steak was recommended to me, but I am more of a chicken kinda gal. read more

The food is ok but they can't seem to get the drive thru orders correct. This is a chronic problem with this location in our experience.

The people that work here should probably realize that when we are sitting and waiting for our food to be made at 6:45am, the customers can hear everything you are saying. Talking about how they don't clean or change anything or saying "who orders a salad at 6am?????" I do, I ordered a salad at 6am because I am going to eat it for lunch. Panera used to use a real cracked steamed egg in their breakfast sandwiches. Not anymore. It's that folded up liquid eggs and it totally ruined it for me. I got the sandwiches multiple times a week now I haven't gotten one in almost two years. They went cheap on the eggs. Huge disappointment. I came to Panera all the time, now I go elsewhere. I'm very disappointed. Especially for the price - and they can't afford a real egg? At least offer the steamed egg as an upgrade or something . read more

There is a reason why there is no drive thru line.... Because their service and order turn around time is exceptionally SLOW. You could bake a cake in the time it takes them to provide a premade salad or get a half dozen bagels. Go elsewhere, sad to say. Fo better Panera! read more

I went through the drive thru and ordered the half toasted chicken fontega sandwich. The bag read my correct order so i didn't think twice. I got home and it was a completely different sandwich. So i drove back, told them i got the wrong sandwich, and they prepared a full one, which i appreciated. Once i got home i opened my sandwich and it was wrong a second time. So i drove back again and then finally they gave me the right sandwich. It was just really frustrating. I appreciated the full instead of just getting the half, but no compensation otherwise. Food can be delish but more often is just meh. I appreciate consistency. This location is all over the board. I order the same sandwich every time and it never fails to be different. Lately it has been so dry that I tear off the ends of the sandwich so I don't t get that destroyed Captain Crunch mouth. Bums me out too because when it's good it's excellent. When it's not, it's nothing but a waste of money. Had my last too dry to swallow version of my favorite sandwich today and will not be back. The service is generally friendly but the food ... ugh. (Before you ask why I keep going back, well, there's not many salad option places around in Auburn.) Not a great Panera's. I've been to some great ones - (the one on Douglas in Roseville is excellent.) But this one is awful. The soup was lukewarm. My name is Philip and I'm a workaholic! Admitting it is half the battle. The other half it seems is remembering to eat and if I can figure out a way to eat at my desk and have it be somewhat healthy as well, I am sold. This Panera is fairly close to my office and the ability to order online is a huge plus. I can use the "Rapid Pick-Up" on their website, order my food and generally the order is waiting in a brown paper bag with my name on by the time I arrive. My order is usually correct and I can be picky. The restaurant is clean and employees friendly. They even cut my apple into slices for me. It makes it easier to work and continue stuffing my face. My one complaint ( I appreciate the upsell) but, please stop offering me a HUGE delicious cookie for 99 cents when I check out. They are good but I sit at my desk all day and am large enough already! read more

Terrible Service and Certain Dishes are Always "Out of Stock" I have visited the Panera location at 2845 Bell Rd., Auburn, CA, four times in the past month and a half. Each time, the Teriyaki Chicken and Broccoli Bowl was unavailable. The first few times, I was told by an employee that the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl is very popular and usually "sells out" by 2pm daily. I wondered why the store doesn't increase their inventory order if they know they sell out--but that is besides the point. Today, I visited AGAIN and ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and Broccoli Bowl. I was told by the assistant manager (Dani) that it is "not prepared and will not be available today." I asked what that meant, because clearly the other dishes have to be "prepared" and those are presumably available to order. Assistant manager Dani was quite rude and said, "we have not had a preparer at this store for 3 months." Huh??? Nice thing to say to a customer. Badmouth your company. Nice. So I asked to speak to the Store Manager (apparently his name is Phil). Well, "Phil" is never there! This was the last time I will visit the Panera in Auburn. I wonder if the owner knows that his staff is destroying his business. I also filed a complaint with Panera so the company is aware that this franchised store is ruining the Panera brand. Worst service and food. Came in for a spicy Asian chicken half salad. I attempted to eat it and the taste of bad vinegar was horrible. I am usually one not to complain but I couldn't take it any longer. After three bites I took it back. The comment was we can't take it back but I can order you something else. I asked for the Asian chicken salad instead insuring it was not the same dressing or vinegar. Well I get a cheap salad with 5 chicken pieces and the same vinegar. Also the bread is torn it cut. Even before I read other's reviews I thought, "How peculiar? A drive-through Panera. Yeah, I better go in and get my sandwich." I'm glad I did. The ordering process took a long time. I don't normally write bad reviews but this Panera bread has been consistently terrible. I've given it so many chances while I'm driving and in a pinch for food. It's like whoever is making the food every time without fail doesn't give a heck about the quality. Things are usually slapped together, missing main key ingredients or of poor quality. For instance the chicken sandwiches we just got had no lettuce on them or anything other than a pickle and were super dry. we also ordered salads and when we went to eat them we found they had given us three knives and two spoons but no forks. My husband and I are on a drive with our three month old baby and are just hungry and very disappointed. The least these employees could do is pay attention. This store has gone down hill since it opened. Several times I have stopped going due to sloppy made sandwiches in the drive through. Example: round ball of tuna in the middle of bread, not spread out and no knife in the to go bag to do it yourself. On June 27th I wrote customer service about several issues. I did receive a response say in 3 to 5 days I would hear back. It is now 8/11/23 and I have had NO further contact. The tables are not kept clean, the employees in the back are joking around and not paying attention to what is put on your plate. Constantly missing silverware. Order a bowl of soup and you get a piece of bread same size as you get with a cup of soup. Usually the early morning drive up has the most reliable and friendly customer service. read more
