This store has gone down hill since it opened. Several times I have stopped going due to sloppy made sandwiches in the drive through. Example: round ball of tuna in the middle of bread, not spread out and no knife in the to go bag to do it yourself. On June 27th I wrote customer service about several issues. I did receive a response say in 3 to 5 days I would hear back. It is now 8/11/23 and I have had NO further contact. The tables are not kept clean, the employees in the back are joking around and not paying attention to what is put on your plate. Constantly missing silverware. Order a bowl of soup and you get a piece of bread same size as you get with a cup of soup. Usually the early morning drive up has the most reliable and friendly customer service. read more

I ordered the Strawberry Poppy Seed salad and the Mango smoothie. The salad tasted moldy and dirty, the smoothie tasted sour, like the yogurt in it is bad. It's really hard to leave a review because the food is excellent but the service is terrible. The food is a 4 1/2 with the service a 2! We love the quality of the food. My daughter and I are both regular customers at the drive through and we tend to order for several people and there are ALWAYS errors! We check the receipt to make sure it was what we ordered which is usually correct b ut the order does not reflect the receipt. Especially with the soups. One day we went back to have it corrected and the correction was incorrect! The manager Shannon was very apologetic and helping us resolve the issue so we would continue to return our business. His superior lacked the same diplomacy and just made excuses and we could actually feel the "eye roll" from over the phone as we called to complain. This Panera should keep Mr. Shannon up front dealing with the customers. He is much better dealing with people. The food is really good. My advise is to keep the orders limited to one item and not full family take out or you will be disappointed on your order not being correct or short. read more

Literally the worst Panera Bread store ever. I don't usually write negative reviews nor do I use the word "literally." I have been struggling with this store since they opened. Just very low quality and mediocre customer service. Last night I ordered a half salad and soup in pick up and received about 1/4 of the 1/2 salad. Previous offense have included them substituting, without telling me, asiago bread when I ordered focaccia...and then having an attitude when I return it. They said they ran out of focaccia...but why not ask me if I prefer ciabatta or even whole wheat. Other offenses are just wrong orders all together and I know the that happens, but the lack of customer service that follows is unacceptable. And on top of all of that...they ran out of bread. SMH. If you've never been to a Panera, keep in mind that this is an "order at the counter" (or kiosk, which I recommend!) and "pick up at the counter" kind of place. The seating area is generally pretty cozy although you won't be sitting in a private booth and most have cute little fireplaces. They make everything from fresh ingredients and all the baked goods are baked the evening before so they are ready for the following day. The bread is very tasty and I would recommend their tomato basil loaf if you're buying bread. They have so many good sandwiches, but don't order a "half" sandwich and expect to be full, you'll be needing a whole to do the job. They also make terrific salads, but again, don't order a "half", you'll still be hungry. The reason I suggest ordering at the kiosk is that you can customize ANYTHING you order! I have been eating at Panera for 10+ years. I have eaten in Southern Illinois, in SoCal and here in Auburn, CA. For the past 18 months I have eaten there about 6 times. Not once was the food good or of any quality. Yesterday my wife brought it home ($30+) and that was the final straw. The chicken club sandwich was so dry I bet the chicken was cooked days ago. There is not condiments, the lettuce was wilted and disgusting. I also had the turkey chili. Most of it was beans and had little to no flavor. I just don't get Panera. I've been to three different locations and they have been mediocre at best. Yesterday my salad was inedible- literally. I ordered the Thai chicken salad, and the dressing had a gross, sour flavor. I thought maybe it was "just me being picky" but when my lunch partner tasted it she agreed, and wouldn't touch any more of it (and she is a NOTORIOUS grazer off of other people's plates!) The pro's: the portion size was pretty good for a $7 salad. The food came quickly. The side baguette slice ( which ended up comprising my entire lunch ) was very good. The cons: Excepting the baguette, the food just doesn't taste good! I took a little informal poll of other nearby salad eaters, and NOBODY really liked their lunch. I have never said anything before but for the price and the service it is just so bad. I have gotten 3 sandwiches on focaccia bread now and all 3 times the bread was beyond stale. It is so beyond rude to knowingly serve people something like that when you know they are paying and it should be unacceptable for basic service standards. These are basics, it is a sandwich, and basic respect for the people your serving. I used to get my sandwich the way it was served on sourdough but often the slices were so small no one would consider in proportion for a sandwich along with being very stale. Lamest grilled cheese ever! Got a grilled cheese and tomato soup. Not sure if this is their standard grilled cheese or if I just got ripped off. One single piece of cheddar cheese between two thick pieces of bread. Can't even taste the cheese. The bread seems to be lightly toasted but when I bit into it, it was soft and tasted microwaved. First being a Software Eng SF/Silicon Val for 10+ yrs I am versed in web developing. Also I have been to a few Paneras. I sighned up for online ordering a couple months back. Total of 5 orders and todate NOT 1 order did they get right.  Last nite was my last time.  I ordered turkey BLT w/ a few xtras for items plus 2 CChip cookies. I arrive and was told "we are out of  CChips but we replaced w/ 'Candy' cookies". I told them TU yet I didnt want those and IF I did I would of ordered such so please refund me my $". I was instructed that I had no choice. Thus they got tossed into the garbage. Next I get home and find the sandwhich was a total disaster. Condiments oozed all over .. bread beyond soggy .. actually to gross to eat. If a organization cannit build a basic Client/User website then remove oneself from the web. Its basic code in the least.  Next to be dictated what I am to eat thus pay for geez. This should NOT be allowed in the Auburn community. I ask that ALL join me in boycotting Paneras of Auburn  Bell rd and send a clear msg to corporations of what we will and will not accept. If I could leave a zero star rating I would!! I went through the drive through this morning and from ordering and to receive my food it took 22 minutes! When I got to the window I told the lady that I was slightly upset because of the long wait period. And she just brushed us off. Then when my family and I get home we open our breakfast sandwiches and they are completely WRONG. I call the restaurant the first time and they hang up on me. So, I hate to do this because I love Panera. My wife and I go here all the time. I'm sorry to say that this has to be one of the worst locations ever. Tonight, my Asian Chicken Salad came with romaine and wonton strips.....that's it. No chicken, no almonds, no cilantro, no sesame seeds. Seriously?!? The manager offered to refund my salad but can't you guys get it together down there? Last time I ordered the Italian sub that came with mostly bread. In my opinion that's a hearty sandwich....not that day. I just feel disappointed because this location is closest to home and I can't even trust that they will get my order right. Went to the newly opened Panera Bread here in Auburn. Ca. for lunch today with my husband. I had a chicken Cobb salad, and husband had a chicken wonton broth bowl. The salad was less than stellar. The dressing was very bland and mixed into the salad. I think there may have been 3 or 4 pieces of bacon and bleu cheese total in the salad. I have certainly had much better Cobb salad for less money. Husband said his broth bowl was good, just not enough of it. The broth didn't even fill the bowl 1/2 way up. We each had an ice tea to drink. The bill was almost $30 for the two of us, definitely not a good value for what you receive. We will not go back. read more

Wow!! Can not get a order right. This is the third time I have been and each time something is wrong. This time, they forgot to put the soup in the bag. They put the bread bowl in the bag, no soup. And no side of chips (didn't notice that until later) Furthermore, right I front of the manager I said "this is the third time I have been to this location and my order is wrong every time" and he just looked down and walked away. I should not have to triple check my bag for everything. Update: I went back to get the chips and spoke to Kim, she was very nice! This was our first experience with the Auburn Panera Bread and it was using the Drive-Thru...Big Mistake!!! First it took the girl 5x's to get our order correct verbally, repeating the wrong thing over and over. Then after we received our sandwiches, both were incorrect. I ordered the BLT Rst Tky Avc Sandwich which came with NO bacon. My husband ordered Smoked Turkey with cheese & yellow mustard, no lettuce, no tomato, no mayo, no red onion. He received his sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomato and no cheese, paying an extra $1 for the cheese. Order #177 on 4/30/16, 1:51 PM. Sandwiches are $9 Each...That is WAY over priced, especially when orders are wrong and you are on the road before you realize it. No plans on going back here...I'll stick to other locations until I here Auburn has it together. The credit card machine was not working at this time. read more

I had never eaten Panera before it came to Auburn. I saw a review on it on Facebook for the turkey and cranberry flatbread and so I had to try it. I actually ordered a grilled turkey and cranberry(sauce but it's not really a sauce) in sourdough no spinach. It was AMAZING!! The turkey was juicy and thick, the garlicky sauce was so tummy and the cranberry with it was to die for. The only downside, was that the bread was a little too crunchy, and is that the price for the quantity wasn't good. It was a small sandwich with chips for $10, and that's just sad to me. It was amazing though, so I've been back a few times since. The last time I went in, I found out that the sandwich/ingredient options were only a seasonal thing(why?!) so I had to get it without cranberries. It was still good, but the cranberries gave it a little sweet and bitter taste that it needed. The lost star is because of the price, lack of year round options, and because they have screwed up my order after they repeated it back, and they didn't even apologize and give me a free item like they say advertise if they mess up. The servers have always been very pleasant and the food is consistently good. Their coffee subscription is also a great value if you live or work nearby. We don't even want to give this Panera 1 star but in order to post this review I had to. So actually we are giving it 0 stars. Once again our order was wrong!! Since this Panera has opened up in our town, we think we have only received the correct order one time. Every time we have gone through drive thru our order has been wrong! Either they forgot a part of our order or we get something different then what we ordered!! After receiving our order we pull into a parking spot and check it. We can understand it happening once or twice but come on.....almost every time. As paying customers we are making it a choice to order our food from this Panera instead of going somewhere else but we should not have to pull into a parking spot every time to check our order! We have given this location so much Grace but tonight was the last straw. Once again we got the wrong food. We will not recommend this Panera to anyone! I got breakfast here one time, was fine nothing to complain about. me and my bride wanted specifically Panera a few months later for this amazing pick 2 deal. Drove 20 minutes just to be told they didn't have any any chicken for my pizza.I was okay with that.Then I thought I'll just get some mac and cheese. And guess what? THEY DIDNT HAVE THAT EITHER. So we went to chick Fila instead. But today we went and I thought, it can't be that bad this time ill give them another chance. I got the bbq chicken sandwich and the french onion soup and ate inside.
