Love this small quaint restaurant. It was our first time at tre Pazzi trattoria. Love the cozy atmosphere. I decided I wanted Italian for my Birthday dinner! Found them close to our home. OMG it was fabulous! I had the GF Lasagne made with polenta and and a side of spaghetti squash. Hubby had the rack of lamb with creamy polenta. We'll be back. They have a large Gluten Free menu. We went on Mother's Day for my mom and the service was absolutely terrible. Our waitress never even told us her name, but she was not friendly. She never came to check on us once, our food was cold, and the bread came out one second before our dinners. We were there for almost 2 hours and we had a not difficult party of five. Yes, they were moderately busy, however there were lots of staff and definitely many empty tables. The way we were ignored was completely unacceptable. Our waitress was completely rude and bothered when we asked for our check (after sitting there after we were done with our cold food for many minutes.) My family has come here before but we certainly will not be coming back after this poor experience. read more

Lets start with the service which tainted the whole experience. Our waitress took our order gave us food and a bill. No other interaction! How's you meal etc. I even had to get the canter across the restaurant to refill my water. She never cleared any dishes. And the table next to us mentioned it also to each other that there was no more room on the table once the meal came out as they had appetizer plates and wine glasses etc. it is a cute smaller place with some seating outside if you wish. The food was okay, nothing to write home about. And they charged 4$ for a small monkey dish of extra sauce. Which they did not tell me the price before giving it to me. I got the pork porterhouse, it came w a vegetable but no starch which I find odd. My partner enjoyed his lamb chops. There is one bathroom which is fine just letting the readers know. read more

I don't like writing bad reviews but today I decided to try Tre Pazzi, I walked in to an empty restaurant (inside and outside). I asked if I can sit outside and told yes but once I chose to sit down, I was asked to move incase there were more customers, that itself set the mood for me and made me have them box up my food and leave. As I was leaving two ladies also conversed with me about being asked to move in an empty restaurant. I paid $17 (plus $5 tip) for very bland pasta. will absolutely not return or recommend read more

This time it was anniversary number 27. Tre Pazzi did not disappoint. On a Wednesday they were pretty full but we had made reservations for and outside table so we could have our husky with us. We were seated right away but it took a bit for our bread to arrive. Their bread is always good with a crispy outer shell and a nice soft inside. I decided to slurge and ordered the marinated pork loin cutlets over creamy white polenta topped with a white wine, lemon, rosemary sauce and crispy pancetta @$32. The yelp photo 152 is exactly as it comes. Way more food than I could eat so a box took half home that we split the next night for dinner. Didn't need any veggies as it comes with them. It was delicious! My wife ordered the cannelloni (#12) which was also excellent. Tre Pazzi has raised their prices a little in the last few years but nothing like most Italian restaurants have where you have to call your CC company before you sit down and worry that the prices may go up during dinner. They do well because they are affordable, have a excellent menu, nice atmosphere and good service. If you have a dog, there are quite a few tables outside and by 6:30 the sun has long gone and a gentle breeze keeps summer temps at bay. read more

Not the worst, not anywhere near as good as price suggest. 1 bathroom for employees and guests. I read some other reviews, and not a peep about prices for the small amounts and average at best pizza. Stopped by Auburn to charge and found this gem. It speaks character from the brick and wood decor and you'll feel like you stepped into little Italy. The food was great. We shared a sausage pizza that had some fancy Italian name and was plenty to share. We split the mixed green salad and it's one of the more affordable meals we've had. I love that you can sit outside or in. I wish I had room for dessert cause the lemon specialty sounded incredible. Funny I mentioned this place the day after we visited to Bryce at Hart to Hart vineyards and shared he loved it too. Apparently, many rave about it. We will be back. read more

Oh, for the love of food.. you need to make this beautiful spot a must on your to-do list! From the front, it is kind of hard to spot. It is surrounded by so many other businesses and when it comes to parking... make sure you know you're in for a nice stroll or romantic walk. As my fiancée and I walked in to celebrate our one year anniversary, it was crowded, but there were still tables available. We were sat within minutes. There may have been maybe 12 tables inside and 4-5 outside. I could be wrong. tre Pazzi trattoria is a petite spot with your craving for  Italian Cuisine. All dishes are made in house and prepared using local ingredients when they are available. Worth simplicity and freshness being the key to authentic cooking, your in for a treat! We started with a few glasses of water and bread with butter. We decided to go with the balsamic vinegar and olive oil to dip in. We also ordered streamed clans in a white wine. For our entrées, we ordered the carbonara - Umbria linguine tossed in a sauce made with egg, fresh parmesan, and crispy pancetta. My fiancée ordered the Lemon Pillow Gnocci - pillow shadow gnocchi stuffed worth Grana Padano cheese and ground black truffle in a lemon butter and she sauce with chopped walnuts... I was told service was very slow... but I liked that I got to enjoy each course throughly. The bread they broth out was a little over cooked. Burnt on the bottom, with a sour bread. Sour dough? I don't know, but worth butter, it saved the flavor. The streamed clams were so delicious! The broth they were served in was so succulent. Entrées! The Carbonara was so delightful and light for being a pasta dish. It needed a few dashes of salt and perfect-o! The lemon Gnocchi was SOO DELIGHTFUL! Light worth HUGE FLAVOR... it was so delightful worth the sage and walnut. Both dishes are highly recommended! Service was pretty good. We had to ask for water refills, we had to ask for butter when she brought a new toasted bread. She was really sweet. Since we were celebrating our one year anniversary, our lovely waited rang in a celebratory dessert! We had the best dinner we've had in a long time thanks to The Pazzi Trattoria! It was SO DELICIOUS! We didn't feel rushed celebrating... it's not a quite romantic setting, but it was exactly what we were expecting for delicious, savory food! Our lunch group of seven guys showed up at noon. We had previously been at Tre Pazzi for lunch about 6 months ago. It was not nearly as good today. We were seated inside right away and drinks were served and the food order taken. The wait for our food was much too long and then when served only 6 meals came out. The 7th meal took another 10 minutes. My Lasagna was hot on the edges but only warm in the middle. Our server did the best she could without the cooperation of the kitchen. We agreed that the food was tasty but the overall experience was too drawn out. The check was correct and handled professionally. Street parking was very difficult with a long walk as all the nearby parking lots were full. Overall a disappointment today. read more

Menus stated four pieces of fish, plate came with three pieces of fish, waitresses response to me when I ask why we only received three pieces of fish, was " oh I forgot to tell you they changed it to three pieces ", yet she couldn't tell me that when I ordered, charged full price for my plate. None of the Yelp menu shots represent current menu pricing of food items and pricing is high. Service, un-welcoming, but we will gladly take your money approach. Waitress appeared disheveled with food stains all over her shirt, table service was poor overall. Double standards on dog policy (after speaking directly to business owner) wait staffs rules are different than the owners rules. Ambiance overall weird, odd, un-welcoming and got the feeling there is a disconnect between staff and owners vision. Second visit to this restaurant, won't return. read more

The Good: 1) Friday night dinner, no reservation, still we were able to be seated immediately. 2) Portion sizes were good, as were the flavor profiles. The zuchinni and pasta appetizer was big enough for 2 to share, and was probably the best part of the meal. 3) A nice selection of menu items from differnt regions of Italy. In the majority of restaruants you are limited to either to region the family grew up in or was instrumental in the creation of the menu. 4) Very nice outdoor seating area. The NOT so good: 1) Service was sub-par. I'd say below sub-par even. Enough so that other tables that shared our server could be heard making comments. 1a) Full hands in, full hands out, is a mantra for a reason. When food is delivered to the table it should not be on the patron to pile empty plates thereby clearing room for entrees. We observed the 2 tables in our close proximity doing the same thing when their entrees were delivered, and at least 1 of them made comments about it amongst themselves. 1b) Equally as complaint worthy was the lack of server attentiveness. Our server appeared to have 4 or 5 tables, but only 4 at the time we dined. My gf had to get up several times to refill her own water. An observation that may help, or may not. The hostess appeared to be severely under utilized. Other than seating guests, she stood at the bar talking to 1 patron. She could have been used to pour waters, clear tables, etc. Maybe that's just an arrangement they have, or maybe it's just inexperience, but it would have greatly raised customer satisfaction. 2) NOT a complaint, but an observation. I had the rack of lamb, which was quite good, and while the portion size was adequate, the menu stated a RACK of lamb, The serving was 4 bones, which is approximately HALF a rack (a rack being traditionally 7-8 bones). Not a complaint, but pointing out that the menu was incorrectly worded at best, deceptive at worst. Didn't hate it, but not impressed enough to feel the need to return. read more

Portion size of Lemon Pillow Gnocchi was certainly not worth the $16 price. More like an appetizer size serving. Meals do not come with soup or a salad that is extra. We came into the restaurant around 3:30 today. Place was empty, so you would expect stellar service... unfortunately, the service was honestly terrible. The waitress spoke in 1 word responses, didn't bother to introduce herself of recommend menu items. She never cleared our dirty plates or give us new forks. We had to wave her down in an empty restaurant for everything we needed including the bill. Highly recommend you go to La Forenetta in Newcastle or Pasquales in Old Town Auburn. Tre Pazzi is everything and more. Great ambiance, nice servers and delicious food! Their red sauce passed with flyings colors by my very picky Italian husband, that's a great compliment! There were four of us enjoying a nice quiet mean away from the football frenzy and Tre Pazzi was perfect...no football on the tv! I highly recommend any of their pasta dishes. Made a reservation for 2 people to dine outside. When we arrived, we were directed to a small table against the wall. No view and very cramped. We asked to be moved to a larger table but were told they were reserved for larger parties. There were two larger tables available but empty. During the entire course of our visit, no one was seated at either of these tables while we were forced to stare at an exterior wall. The owner was present, however he didn't make any effort to walk around and check on the customer's impressions. The margherita pizza was the quality of a frozen pizza. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a frozen pizza. The crust was not crisp and the sauce was flavorless. This used to be our favorite Italian restaurant in Auburn. We have gone here multiple times - I almost always get the same thing. Raviolis and bruschetta are very good. The other night I got the polenta con funghi ... OMG ! It was sooooo good. We had high hopes but were incredibly disappointed in our experience here tonight. Most notable, the service from Leah was very slow. It took about 15 minutes after being seated to get greeted and receive waters from our server. Then there was no attempt to come back to refill our drinks even once during our visit, so were very thirsty. And on top of that, about a twenty minute wait after they brought our food before they came back to ask how our food was... not a huge restaurant so it doesn't seem reasonable to have these wait times. And I saw the other server next to us check on her tables many times. The other major issue was I ordered gnocchi, not knowing there were multiple gnocchi's on the menu. They're very popular for their lemon gnocchi (reviews and word of mouth) so I assumed this is what I was ordering. And the server did not ask me or confirm which gnocchi I wanted. Instead, I received a bland bowl of plain gnocchi (that tasted packaged) with cannellini beans, vegetables and sausage on top. I tried to suck it up and eat it but it tasted awful and I can't eat sausage. When the wait staff finally returned, I told her about the mixup and she didn't really seem to care. She eventually offered to reorder (charge) me for the lemon gnocchi to which I politely declined because I wasn't going to pay for another dish after waiting so long and being so disappointed. To make matters worse, my boyfriend's pizza was disappointing too. He said it was very boring and bland. I honestly would have expected more, that the return customers would have been the priority and that most restaurants would offer to replace my food at no additional cost, but there was zero compassion or care for that. Lastly, our card was not in the folder after they charged us. We had to walk back in to the restaurant to ask for our debit card, so that was frustrating, too. Because of the food taste, the lack of care during service and the speed of the service, I don't think we'll return. read more

Enjoyable special evening out. Ordered lots of direct things and tried a little of each. My chicken parmigiana was good but a little dry. Father in law had the best, which was a tortellini with a white sauce. Sorry I don't remember all the names. The service was spectacular. I don't know how these people have such great attitudes with everything going on. The drinks were another high point. I would say they were the best part if the service hadn't been so great. We tried almost all the specialty drinks at the top and there wasn't one we didn't love. I think my favorite was the Negori. It was just so unique. Price was a bit high for the amount of food you get. But it's ok every once in a while. Look forward to the next time we have a reason to celebrate. read more

Just made our favorite pitstop en route from Tahoe to the Bay. We often stop here for a decent meal to avoid caving to an In n Out urge, or other fast food stomach bomb . Tre Pazzi is a welcoming little restaurant with a decent wine list and classic Italian fare. We tried the spaghetti squash with sautéed spinach and San Marzano tomato sauce tonight and we were pleasantly surprised. I wish there was about 2x the spinach because I really love it, but would happily order this dish again next trip! The waitress hand grating real Parmesan over it was definitely a winning touch. The service is excellent. It feels like an owner operator situation and everyone is family who works there. If you are looking for good food at a fair price in a nice setting, give them a try. By the way, they do NOT charge for their yummy bread, butter and olive oil/balsamic dipping sauce. We ordered 2 pasta dishes and split a salad. No wine tonight since we are on the road. Stopped at this place for a weekday lunch on a road trip to Reno. It was absolutely delicious. Lemon piccata was garlicky lemon goodness, the portobellos tasted right out of a marsala. Hubs said he'd order a bowl of just those. The gnocchi were light and well balanced with the butter sauce. Friends enjoyed their roast chicken and cannoli. We really wanted to like this place, but neither the experience nor the food was up to par. Our server was hardly welcoming and neither was she very pleasant. I did not expect fine dining service but I did hope to be made welcome and to be met with warmth and friendliness to match the traditional and home style Italian theme of the restaurant. It felt a lot less like visiting an Italian friend and a lot more like being treated with the indifference of a teenage retail worker who sees you as an obligation and not a guest. I ordered the chicken and it was disappointingly dry and difficult to swallow. The cannelloni had a funky taste we didn't care for. The white sauce separated from the oil in the other pasta dish. The pizza was a big miss as well. I am a big fan of Neapolitan pizza and the pizza is not Neapolitan. Beautiful restaurant and lovely decor but unfortunately we will not be back. read more
