Decided to try this place out for breakfast. As we walked into the restaurant we were greeted with a nice hello and we will be right with you. This place has indoor and outdoor seating. We decided to sit outside since it was a nice day. We ordered eggs Benedict and Tuscan breakfast and of course coffee. The Eggs Benedict was made just right with yummy hollandaise sauce. The Tuscan was yummy to it had feta cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and I believe spinach, eggs on a slice of bread. I went out of the box with this one and it was delicious. Wow. We stumbled across this place after hiking Lake Clementine, and we literally dreamt about it for months after. The food is incredibly fresh and you cannot miss out on the lemon yogurt pancakes with their homemade raspberry jam. Absolute gem of a spot, cannot wait to go back. Two of the sandwiches we ordered had stale bread with hardness around the edges, the potato salad was awful, like from a bin at warehouse store. All yellow and very mustard tasting. Come for the food. Period. The homeade meals (and breakfast dishes in particular) are amazing, they make every single egg dish in individual pans making sure they give you a quality meal. I ordered a vegetarian omlette with fruit, and received a huge plateful of food. Everything was fresh, especially the fruit which had a variety and not the usual sad melon. The omelet was stuffed with nicely cooked veggies and covered with more. My SO and brother also ordered omelets stuffed with various meats and crisp potatoes, also delicious. Coffee was average but plentiful. Alright why is this not a 5 star given the food is amazing? The service is terrible. I believe it "might" be the owner, but it is run by an angry, scowling rude woman who shouts orders to her staff. Ownership entitlement does not suit her well. I could not believe this person was even working, they were so disgruntled and gave the small restaurant a dark vibe. I truly felt bad for the young staff bustling around. I would eat here again because everything we ordered was delicious and the kitchen is clearly talented, but expect zero niceties or friendly banter. Omg, I have the biggest complaint! My quiche was SO good it has put all other quiche to shame! Oh and my stomach isn't big enough because I just wanted to keep eating. I got the zucchini, bacon, tomato, and mushroom quiche and holy moly...so good! Obviously homemade with the flakiest crust. And my daughter's fruit salad came in a bowl the size of a bucket. The almond chicken salad sandwich my husband ordered was fantastic and really each half was the size of a full sandwich. Arrived on a rainy morning about 1030. There were tables available and we were sat immediately. It's a small cozy restaurant with parking next door. Ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were hot and fresh and the biscuits and gravy were also hot and fresh and both tasted good - not the best but definitely tasty. The chicken fried steak was okay. It seemed to be over breaded and not enough meat. It was more breading than you'd expect. The service was average, nothing unique. read more

Stopped by on the way to Tahoe. Was initially thinking of stopping in Roseville but the lines there were really long on a Saturday at 9am. I ordered the bacon avocado Benedict and lemon yogurt pancakes. My partner ordered the Avocado delight (omelette). The portion sizes are HUGE. Everyone else at the table ordered omelettes and left feeling very full. The eggs in the Benedict were poached to perfection (still some gooey-ness but not runny across the entire plate). The bacon and avocado complement the eggs and English muffin well. I ordered mine with a side of fruit. Most places with fruit as a side will put some berries on a plate, but at Katrina's they really load up your plate with a variety! Watermelon, cantaloupe, orange, strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, apple, and pineapple. As a table, we shared the lemon yogurt pancakes. It comes with syrup and raspberry jam. I recommend adding the jam to the pancakes (but in moderation because it's very sweet), as it balances the sour and creaminess very well. The pancakes were light and fluffy, and even though both yogurt and lemon are sour the flavors blend together perfectly. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but they are quite busy!! The waiters were constantly walking by with new orders and seating guests. Service was as attentive as can be, despite being busy. You do have to flag down the waiter to place your order, but the food comes pretty quickly after (maybe 10-15 minutes). If you're able to sit inside, they do have a multitude of plates on display along the rafters which I thought were quite nice! As a pro tip, although there is a specials menu provided, it seems there are some additional items that aren't on either the regular or specials menu but is written on the black board inside (that's where I saw the bacon avocado Benedict). There is a roped off portion of the parking lot with a sign for guests of Katrinas Cafe where you can park! read more

It's been maybe a year since eating at Katrina's Cafe. This is first time we've been disappointed. We both had omelets that included bacon. The change was the bacon came minced, literally pieces smaller than a grain of rice. Flavor was fine but texture not pleasing. The country potatoes in past were always crispy edges with tender center, today not crispy at all, and seasoning, meh. Edible, but not over the top delicious as on our many previous experiences here. For many years, Katrina's Cafe was our gold standard for breakfast restaurant experience. Definitely the cook did not meet that standard today. Very disappointed. read more

Found this local gem and was a little apprehensive as it's tucked away between a car dealership and a Polaris dealer. Although inconspicuous, it seemed popular. We came around lunch time and even though it was busy there was plenty of seating both indoor and outside to accommodate us. We were seated right away and handed a large menu with anything and everything you could want available for breakfast or lunch. We opted for lunch and breakfast which came out super fast and were huge portions. It is a home town country spot with some great variety options but you can tell everything is homemade. This was my first time here, and I have to say, this is a special place. From our waiter, John, checking on us to make sure we were doing well, to Kathrin, the owner, coming out to ensure we were having a good time, the experience was amazing. We brought our young kids, and having a whole toy section for them to play in was incredible and made our experience even better. What a find! The other reviews of Katrina's give you a hint you're in for something special. The face the place was packed also speaks volumes. Warning - it's small both inside and outside so getting a table could be challenging but once you're in - get ready. Mom had a Hawaiian omelette w potatoes- she loved it. I like Hawaiian pizza but not sure I'd personally go there. I went Customer's Creation - Fontaine Italian Sausage, mushrooms, spinach and tomato w cheese. OMG, the sausage was tasty, sweet and a perfect foil for the omelette. The biscuits and gravy had a great flavor of sweet and savory w/o being overly heavy or mushy. Did I mention that both were huge and generously stuffed? Definitely a top 10 omelette that you will get two meals out of! My wife did a custom burger - mushrooms, bacon, avocado on a very nice burger patty. She prefers going bun less, no wrap - which was a good thing because, again, it was huge!!!! I'm not sure you could have picked it up w a bun. They serve steak fries which are often mushy and uninviting. Not these! Nice crisp bite - maybe a little under seasoned but nothing a little salt and pepper can't fix. So some heads up...1) Benedict's w hollandaise sauce are only available on weekends (we will be back!). 2) they only have wine and beer which wasn't a deal breaker for us at all. My first review of 2025 goes to a poor experience. We popped here enroute from Tahoe to the Bay, and we were very surprised our experience didn't meet the great reviews. Expensive, large portions, but low quality of food, everything was soaked in butter and oil, poor service and long wait times for food. We spent $75 and ended up taking a few bites and leaving. Is the move breakfast only? Maybe. Lunch was a fail. While we waited about 10 min for a table, we waited about 30-40 minutes for mediocre food. And while it was crowded, 40 minutes seems extensive for the fare that came out. I went with the chicken pesto sandwich and it was for lack of a better word, gross. Soaked in butter, the sourdough was so greasy you couldn't pick this up, the chicken was tough, and there was a hint of really bad tasting pesto. The side salad was a bowl of just shredded iceberg. My husband's quiche was smothered in butter and cheese and that was just the top of the quiche. Everything was overpriced, but I'd be ok with it if it tasted good, it didn't. Overall, whether it was failed ordering on our part, it wasn't a great experience and a pass. Again, they were busy, so maybe I'm missing something, but your choice to try it out! read more

Look no further than Katrina's for the best brunch spot in the area! My family and I were heading to Lake Tahoe and wanted to indulge in a large breakfast before heading up the mountain. Our omelets were cooked to perfection. The potatoes were crispy and packed with flavor. The portions are also huge and very reasonably priced. But the star of the table were the lemon ricotta pancakes... a must try! The location is small and despite it being an early weekday, we had to wait a little while. I always tip. This time I did not l. This restaurant and specifically the server failed us in over 9 different ways. 1). No one seated us. We had to wait a long time and finally approached the person at the cash register. 2). It took 15 minutes for the server to let us know that she would "be with us in a minute" and another 10 minutes before our order was taken. 3). She scowled and pursed her lips at me when I asked to make a slight adjustment to my order. 4). The food then took forever to come out 5). At one point a hot sauce, bottle had fallen off the table. She came over and instead of bending down to pick it up. She used the bottom of her shoe rolled the bottle towards her and place it back on the table with not a thought to wiping it off first. 6). She served her friends( that came in about a half an hour after us ) their food one minute after our food was up. 7). Her friends french fries looked beautiful. Ours were the bottom of the bucket old, bits and pieces, inedible. We had to request fresh fries. 8). Her 30 something friends she told: " don't worry I gave you the senior citizens discount". ???? 9). She never refilled our water glasses or asked if we needed more. I remember thinking this as I saw her filling her friends water glasses twice. On a positive note my garden salad was fresh and delicious. Clearly to get decent timely service and fresh food, it helps if you are a friend of an employee. The rest of us are out of luck. *Side note both my husband and I have worked in the food service\ restaurant business, so we understand the industry and are sympathetic in general. read more

We've been going to Katrina's for a long, long time well over 25 years. This is singularly the best breakfast place in Auburn. The food has been always been top-notch and the service is fantastic. The wait staff is professional, well trained, and a pleasure to deal with especially Anne Marie. I have only one complaint. Last week when we went for breakfast on Sunday, we were told that they no longer have their housemate hollandaise sauce. We've been having salmon Benedict's there for years and their hollandaise sauce is absolutely fantastic. Canned or packaged holiday sauce is not going to cut it. You never ever change the menu when you have such a a great thing going for you. I think that they have rectified this problem. I sure hope so because I don't know where else I would go for breakfast. Bring back the housemate hollandaise sauce! This place is too good and has been so good for years to mess it up with a silly change like that. read more

Food and service are great. We are giving them 4 stars because the space it's too small. We do not know what to do with our legs or arms to keep them out of the way. It's also Q little loud. Our must stop for breakfast on our way to/back from Sacramento. Glorious mimosas, excellent food and stellar service. On our last stop we enjoyed the Supreme Sandwich (avocado, tomato, shrimp and melted cheese on English muffin) with a side of French onion soup. Food is nothing to write home about, but have had some nice servers in the past. Reason for the 1 star? - this last time my 70 year old mother took my DISABLED 11 year old with Down Syndrome (who functions as a 2 year old). The lady waitress shamed my mother for letting my child look at a phone to stay occupied, and scolded my child, telling her to put the phone down and have a conversation. What a joke. read more
