If you have plenty of extra time in your day, this might be the place for you. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely slow from start to finish. It took about 40 minutes just for someone to take our order. From the time we sat down to when our food arrived, it was an hour and a half. We had three small children with us, who were very hungry. This was our first visit, and seeing the airplanes was a big reason we chose this restaurant, especially since the kids were so excited about it. Sadly, the excitement only distracted them for a short time while we waited. A little more attentiveness and communication from the staff would have made a big difference. Waiting that long, especially with young children, made the experience really difficult. We were really hoping this would become a place to visit regularly, but unfortunately the long wait and lack of service made it a very disappointing first experience. Fun outdoor ambiance right on the airstrip--perfect too if you need to redirect awkward conversations, by noting movements on the tarmac. ;-) The Western Burger is exactly what you'd expect; bacon, bbq sauce, onion ring, but it's perfectly executed, and beef and the cook on it is great. The fries were crisp, well salted, and plentiful. Good produce on the burger setup. Service is friendly and efficient, and even though the restaurant was busy, the food came out shockingly fast, about 10 minutes, wonderfully hot, and all of our food arrived at the same time--not a given at other establishments. Only possible criticism is many of the outdoor tables and picnic benches feel amateurish/residential and tend awkward, not totally comfortable, and of improper size. This is not serious enough an issue to keep me away, however, and I look forward to a repeat visit!! read more

As a long-time fan of Wing's, I am really frustrated that they are now taking online orders like Door Dash. My family and I come here often, sometimes weekly and we are always incredibly patient when they are spacing out their seating times to allow the kitchen to get caught up, but now seeing that online orders are being made while we are still waiting for a table, is incredibly rude and disrespectful. Just this last weekend, in the amount of time that we were waiting to have our order taken (at least 15 minutes after seating), and then waiting for our food (at least another 25 minutes), we counted 6 different online orders get picked up. Come on Wings! You're better than this! You will lose onsite customers who have been overly patient with the increase in wait times and food delivery times since adding the extra seating outside. Be honest with yourself, even on a great day, your kitchen isn't big enough to keep up. The older dark haired lady that seats people and sometimes works as a waitress even said so this weekend when she was overwhelmed with all of the orders, which made her incredibly short and rude with people inside. PLEASE RECONSIDER THIS DECISION! If nothing else, don't do online orders on the busy weekends! read more

By luck, I discovered this breakfast/lunch cafe by the Auburn airport. What a pleasant surprise. Wings is an off the beaten path cafe, but well worth stopping by. It's a stones throw (literally) from Knee Deep Brewery. They serve breakfast til 11:30 and lunch til 2pm. I am a pancake lover, and I loved their light, moist pancakes. I had the pancake/egg/meat combo and it was perfect... and quite filling. Get a side dish of chopped walnuts to add perfection to the cakes. The waitstaff was attentive and always ready with coffee top-off's! Wings Grill has an airport view out the back window, as well as outdoor seating in nice weather. There is even a small lawn play area for kids. Parking is ample with its dedicated parking lot. While not a boutique cafe with fancy tableware, Wings is a great local home style casual cafe. I've been coming to this spot for 10 years, mostly for one reason: the outdoor airport observation area. It's a unique feature that sets it apart from anything else nearby, truly cool, and the main reason I've continued to visit. That said, I've overlooked average food and consistently poor service for a long time. The airport setting alone earned them a generous second star. *Don't expect much when it comes to the food or the service. The system is painfully slow. Sometimes someone takes your drink order, disappears, and then someone else shows up 10 minutes later to take your food order. It's strange and inefficient. What finally pushed me to write this review was the overall lack of cleanliness and care. Seating customers at tables with leftover food chunks on the ground and flies everywhere It isn't acceptable. Turn on the fans, invest in a broom, upgrade your outdoor chairs and tables (and from Costco to TJ Max/Homegoods), and last, figure out some fly control. There's serious potential here. Trust, I want this place to be better - perhaps that's just wishful thinking. But with improved service, (more positive, engaged staff), a refreshed menu with healthier options, and upgraded outdoor furniture, it could actually earn more stars. read more

On this gorgeous morning in mid-June, there was exactly one dining in the dining room, while everybody else was enjoying the amazing 80-degree weather and light breeze on the patio. From the "Wings Grill Menu," we both went with "Two Eggs And..." and the "And" for us turned out to be chicken fried steak. We both went with potatoes, two eggs fried over easy, and Dan went with cottage cheese, while my choice was biscuits and gravy. We enjoyed a beer for an appetizer... or was it dessert? The highlight of the breakfast was the chicken fried steak, which I can truthfully way turned out the be perhaps the BEST chicken fried steak that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy, and... trust me... I have many chicken fried steaks under my belt. The chicken fried steak featured a seasoned, tender beef patty, about 6-oz, flattened thin, battered, and fried to a rich golden brown. Wings puts a unique and, for me, a never-seen-before slant on this delicious entree by topping it with jack cheese, bell pepper, onions and creamy sausage gravy. The cheese, bell pepper, onions and sausage gravy made for a simply unbelievably delicious chicken fried steak experience, which I'd never experienced before. All lovers of chicken fried steaks take note! The side of homestyle potatoes was seasoned, cut to small chunks and deep fried to a tender, golden brown with a nice golden crust, with tender, white potato on the inside. Like the chicken fried steak, the potatoes were perfectly fried. The chef at this fine restaurant truly has talent. Both of ordered eggs fried over easy, and the eggs arrived exactly as ordered: Perfectly fried over easy. This fine plate was garnished with a slice of orange and a sprig of fresh parsley to add to the beautiful presentation. My choice of side was biscuit and gravy, which is a side that I rarely resist, as it always enhances breakfast, or any other meal. My side was one small, fresh, in-house made biscuit, covered with the same delicious sausage gravy that enhanced my main dish. Mmmmm! I piled my eggs on top of the potatoes, added a few dashes of Cholula Mexican hot sauce to the eggs and moved the biscuit and gravy over to the main plate. Simply delicious! Breakfast lovers and lovers of chicken fried state will rejoice when enjoying this fine breakfast at Wings Grill, as I enjoyed the BEST CHICKEN FRIED STEAK EVER and most likely the finest chicken fried steak in Placer County, and maybe the entire west coast. We love this spot. We frequent Wings when we are visiting friends that live in the Roseville/Rocklin area. It's definitely worth the drive. The food is consistently good and it's fun to sit outside watching the planes come and go - particularly if you have a little one. The one negative is that they are busy. I wish ownership would forgo working with Grubhub and other food delivery services. We've been there where the service and kitchen staff are clearly overwhelmed and it seems the backlog is often due to the to go orders. On our most recent visit we had to wait 30 minutes after being seated for our server to be able to help us - she was literally running to service way too many tables for one person so clearly a staffing issue. read more

Nice quaint cafe with an outdoor seating section to be able to sit, dine and view some of the small planes on the tarmac. Breakfast is not served all day. (closes at 2pm). Had a chili burger with fries and the meal was satisfying: open faced burger with tasty chili topped with cheese and onions. the fries were piping hot. my dining companions had the club sandwich and the cajun chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Those fries were also amazing, but the chicken sandwich per feedback was a bit dry and appeared to be smaller versus the last time it was ordered. Indoor seating can be a bit tight as the four top tables are set close to each other. This cafe does accept payment by tap (Apple Pay for example). It took forever to get our drinks, and we sat there for at least another 20 minutes for the server, who was in all fairness doing the best she could, to get our order. But it was the 45 plus minutes we waited for our food. All in all, we sat there for over an hour with one glass of ice tea. When we asked where our food was, the first time she said there was a 35-minute wait for food. It would have been nice to have known that when she took our order. The second time she said there were two tables still ahead of us, all the while bringing food to the tables who had been seated after us. We put $5 under the tea, asked the waitress to cancel our order, and went to Panera. Not quite the lunch experience I wanted. read more

We come here all the time but today was different. The lady who was at the front had an attitude. The Brian's omelette had big uncooked chunks of tomatoes and they ran out of sour cream. Never had that before. I ordered toast with my omelette which came 15 minutes too late after I had eaten my omelette. Then they are advertising that they sell Java bean coffee 14.99 per pound and the lady goes to tell me we don't sell coffee. I have bought coffee before from here and why are you false advertising if you don't sell coffee. Over all bad bad bad. We won't be coming here again. read more

Cozy, Quite & Quaint. The family and I flew into Auburn on September 28, 2014 to meet up with some other aviators and their families for brunch. After landing a parking the plane, we made our way inside and were immediately greeted by the friendly and very accommodating wait staff. After a few moments of juggling tables and patrons to accommodate our group, we sat down to look over the menu. Most of the group decided on breakfast while the rest went with lunch. Speaking of their lunch. I was told lunch didn't official start until after 1100 am, after they start up their deep fryers . I stuck with the simple. A cheddar and mushroom omelet with country potatoes and sour dough muffin. The meal was very decent in respect to portions and the taste was better than the average airport kitchen food. The over the top deciding factors for me this day were the restaurant itself and the wait staff. I love nothing. More than a small, quite and quaint place to eat. Especially one that's decked out in old stoves, coffee pots and other relics of the past. I also love a great and attentive wait staff.
