I'm here from Texas where I used to take my dad for 10 years. Once again I had the steak sandwich that was amazing still! The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. The roll was soft and toasted with butter. The sandwich had shredded lettuce and if I like tomato that would've been on there as well as the seasoned mayonnaise. But I'm a wimp and can't eat that hot stuff. Since I'm 65 and old, I got a free cookie that was very good. The Oatmeal and chocolate chip was excellent, fresh and yummy. The service was excellent, and the prices seem to be like every other place too high. but if you're going to go out to eat, none of us have a choice anymore! The past repeated itself and I found myself here having lunch, and a long conversation over lunch, in recent times. I first met the Brookfield's Rancho Cordova location, but I have eaten at this Brookfield's in Roseville several times. Previously, I had only eaten breakfast at this location, where the coffee kept coming as the conversations kept going. This time, I had lunch. I ordered a chicken ciabatta sandwich with fries while my friend ordered a BLT with fries, which was reportedly good. The chicken sandwich was also tasty and generously sized, but I felt the fries could have used some improvement. They were the thinner type and were moister than I like. I think that fries similar to larger (or even slightly larger) steak fries would make for a better accompaniment to their lunch platters. The service was prompt and amicable. The drinks were refilled as needed. (I wondered at times if we were being pushed out, but I don't think that that was the case since there were quite a few tables still available.) Note that, while the Rancho Cordova location is definitely a pleasant restaurant, they might have expended a little more energy and coin on the physical plant here. This is also a slightly nicer and newer neighborhood just over the county line to the north. The environment here is very pleasant. The pricing was in line with what the genre and the location command. I probably sang the praises for the Rancho Cordova location in another review because I had this dinner platter that I still fondly remember. Generally speaking, I prefer dinner food over lunch food, and lunch food over breakfast food. That could be it. That said, lunch here was indeed good and filling. There are some interesting quirks as to how the greater Sacramento area is laid out and Brookfield's sort of fits into the scheme of things. Going east of downtown Sacramento, the 50 freeway heads to South Lake Tahoe and the light rail follows it all the way to historic Folsom, with the Rancho Cordova store sitting along this route and only a short walk from a transit station. The 80 freeway also heads east, but veers northeasterly over the Sierra Nevada toward Reno, a 9-1-1 sort of place. The Roseville restaurant is located next to and is visible from 80. The difference is that this area gets more Stepford-ish and light rail service stops far short of here in a terminus that looks like a God forsaken treeless industrial section of a slumbering Midwestern city. Where the Roseville and Rancho locations sit, that "wishbone" created by the two diverging freeways is about 10 miles wide and it falls on "Big Hair Boulevard" to pick up the slack. If you haven't figured it out, that implies Sunrise Boulevard. Decades ago, a freeway had been penciled out to close this exact gap, but the proponents of the freeway lost ... and I wish they hadn't. Sunrise Boulevard does move along fairly briskly, so the drive between both restaurants isn't all that lengthy. There is just this vapid weirdness along stretches of Sunrise that could lead you to ask who is it that lives there, why so, and what they do. This sensation peaks as you are traversing "the Heights," which is what friends and I "affectionately" nicknamed Citrus Heights. I would have rather taken that proposed freeway and bypassed all of this! Brookfield's is obviously a solid establishment with staying power. The demographics of their catchment areas are not that interesting and quirky to most people, but they are to me. That said, I tend to add in these ingredients to round out and create a sense of adventure, a need for analysis, and even infuse a dose of harmless neurosis to many dining experiences. read more

Service is always excellent. Today, a friend and I had the lunch special, a chicken wrap. We both enjoyed it but I thought it could have been much better overall if they omitted the white rice they used and either adding more pico di gallo or Spanish rice. I vote for the pico di gallo!!! I have been picking up breakfast for one of my clients here consistently. She loves the sausage breakfast (3 sausage links, choice of eggs, choice of potatoes, and toast with choice of bread) and the open face turkey sandwich (hot turkey smothered in gravy with mashed potatoes also smothered on gravy.) For my client, the kitchen has done an amazing job! There does seem to be a difference in the way the food tastes when it's ordered through doordash. For instance, the mashed potatoes don't taste as fresh as when I come pick up her order. For my other client, I came here for breakfast and we both ordered a glass of OJ and the Eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes and your choice of bread for toast. The OJ was very warm since they don't refrigerate their oranges. So we both asked for a cup of ice. That fresh tasting OJ was much better! I wanted crispy potatoes... for crispy potatoes, they basically put a weight on the potatoes and smashed them into the flat top. It's not what I expected. I thought they would've dropped them in the deep fryer instead of serving me a plank of potatoes. Both our eggs Benedict dishes had obviously sat under the heat lamp for quite some time because the sauce was dry to touch. Since I eat with my eyes first, I was greatly disappointment. Plus the hollandaise sauce wasn't as good as it should be.... but that's just my opinion. My client enjoyed hers! Brookfields is a classic staple to roseville. Their food is pretty good... I'm just very very picky. There are many booths to sit in and when it's busy, the servers are working hard and fast to keep you satisfied. Large open windows surround the restaurant giving lots of light during the day or gorgeous moonlight in the evening. I ordered a roast beef dinner with a side of clam chowder. I got a cup of watery tasteless clam chowder, which is obviously from a can not fresh meat. My roast beef dinner arrived, and it was only one very small slice of roast beef person, and full of grizxle. I talked to the waitress and she said I wanted more roast beef. I should've ordered a roast beef sandwich. I left hungry and disappointed Brookfield used to be my favorite restaurant. I think this dinner was something like $16 and a little bitty plate with that one little piece skinny slice of roast beef was a rip off if I ever eat there again I will only order breakfast. This is the second Bad meal. I've had there in the last year. Brookfields have reduced their serving sizes size while drastically increasing their prices resulting in another another disappointing experience. read more

Came here for the first time with my friend and had a blast! This place is so cute and nicely decorated! The friendly staff were dressed up in candy outfits and even let me take a pic to post here our server was super friendly and had the best outfit! My friend ordered the M&M Egg Benedict I ordered the Newport Beach Egg White Omelette with their gluten free toast and green tea. So yummy and filling! Bathroom was clean and not smelly. We have been going to Brookfields for over 25 years. It's not fancy or gourmet, but has a cute, homey decor and is easy on the budget. I gave it 5 stars because it is comfort food and not expected to be trendy. I didn't feel like going out so we ordered takeout. I ordered my favorite the Garrett's Stuffed Chopped Steak. It's my favorite comfort food of a hamburger patty with grilled onions, chilis, cheese & gravy with a side of mashed potatoes. I always order with the cornbread but they also have dinner and GF bread. My husband ordered the same but with the onion rings instead. Our son had the Bob's Steak Sandwich with Garlic Fries. He liked the sandwich but it was hard to eat because of the cut of the steak. For dessert we had carrot cake & cheesecake. The carrot cake was a disappointment because it only had one piece of a nut in the entire slice and not much flavor. read more

The staff are always very nice and quite efficient for how busy they are. Once again, Brookfields impressed! My daughter and I rewarded ourselves after doctor visits with a much needed lunch out. The hostess who greeted us was so sweet and seated us immediately. Our server was an absolute delight and worked her section of tables like a seasoned professional. She was patient, knowledgeable and gave the absolute best recommendation about how they normally cook the salmon on the salad I'd been pondering. She even went and asked if there were mushrooms in the chicken pot pie that my daughter was thinking of ordering. If you've worked in the service and food industry before you notice the the little things, and not just from the people who bring your food. From the people who clear and clean the tables, to the servers, to the cooks, this place has always been run with love and efficiency. update: the last time we were here, the food was good. not sure what happened, but 2 of our entrees were bad. So what did we order? 1) waffle combo: our dining companion almost devoured his entire entree - fluffy waffle, nice juicy sausages, but the eggs were too runny and under cooked - which he pushed aside. 2) chefs salad: fresh produce and our friend asked for no tomatoes, cheese, dressing, and eggs. she appreciated that the kitchen was able to accommodate her request. 3) now the bad news: we ordered two chicken fried steak entrees. Eggs were also under cooked and the chicken fried steak had too much grizzle, meat was tough, over coated, bland, and the country gravy had a flour flavor which means the kitchen did not prepare the gravy properly. blah blah blah. gross Silver lining: we told our waiter and the manager came to our table. He apologized and said perhaps their meat supplier was using cheaper cuts of meat. I asked if they changed meat suppliers- he said no - which makes it even worst. Bottom line: he removed the bad entrees off our bill. But it still doesn't excuse why the country gravy was prepared poorly and under cooking of eggs. We hit up Brookfields pretty often and it's always solid! Last night, we had Shannon as our server for the first time and she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying our meal. I also overheard her dealing with some gruff from the table next to us, which she handled with professionalism and efficiency. I almost always order the soup and half sandwich, but last night I had the Sam's sandwich on sourdough and it was delicious. My son ate his breakfast-for-dinner so fast that I'm not even sure exactly what he ordered, and Shannon made sure his Dr. Pepper was never empty, not once (not an easy feat)! Very good food overall. The burgers were cooked perfectly and juicy. The sweet potato fries were also nice. The salmon plate was okay, but I felt the salmon was a little dry. It was still better than salmon I usually try to make at home though. The waiter was helpful, but service was a little slower than expected. The restaurant was clean. The restaurant air conditioner certainly works well, perhaps a little too well. We were in a spot that had it directly blow on us, so we were cold (despite it being 103 degrees outside).
