Cynthia has run Everybody's Inn for years and is always welcoming. The past few weekends Rowland from Denzler's Swabian Kitchen has taken over the kitchen serving up authentic German fare. I had the special (not on the menu, don't remember the name) Pork strips, mushroom gravy,spaetzle and a salad. Salad was interestingly unique with lettuce, carrots,warm cooked potatoe chunks, vinegar and oil dressing. Pretty tasty non breaded pork was tender, mushroom gravy had a nice salty ness to it, spaetzle was soft chewy porous egg pasta though tasteless by itself, good with the gravy mixed in. Mrs had the Hunter's Schnitzel. Essentially the same as my meal with a pounded,breaded thin pork patty. This was good with a fried crunch. Beer and wine served (Trumer German style Pilsner), couple of the owners friendly old dogs wandering around the bar seating, like eating at Grandma's house. Foresthill, CA, located in Placer County, is a friendly, off-the-beaten-track mountain community, located 20 miles east of Auburn, the county seat. Mountain recreational opportunities are endless, but fine dining is limited, but that is not a problem, as the small town is blessed to enjoy a "hidden gem," Everybody's Inn, owned and operated by Cynthia, the amazingly friendly proprietor. As you enter the restaurant, you'll notice the large bar, which takes up most of the dining room. The owner and operator of the restaurant/bar calls the bar the "Tacky Bar." The atmosphere is as rustic as it gets, as the bar/restaurant sports a wood burning stove for warmth, soda coolers, along with wooden floors. Don't look for computerized ordering or uniformed staff, as... what's that? You're in rural Foresthill!! At the rear of the dining room is what the owner refers to as the "Country Kitchen," as it's set up as a rustic dining room, like what you'd see in a 1950's western movie, offering tables and chairs for your dining pleasure. Everybody's Inn is "dog friendly," as your well-behaved dog is welcome to join you inside the restaurant, as you enjoy the amazing mountain cuisine. On weekends, Everybody's Inn serves breakfast from 08:00 in the morning until noon, and features a printed menu, that lists all of your breakfast favorites. The menu posts "Ask about Thursday's dinner," as every Thursday, Cynthia prepares a different dinner, which varies and offers a different selection each week. The dinner offerings vary widely from week to week, so Foresthill locals are always able to enjoy varied cuisine. The selections vary from "Chicken Fried Steak" to "Yankee Pot Roast," with everything in between, so Thursdays are always special at Everybody's Inn. Just like many small restaurants that I've visited during my many travels to Mexico, Everybody's Inn does not have a menu, and you just have to ask what Cynthia can offer you. As in many small restaurants in Mexico, the proprietor will prepare you anything you request, with the limitations of what she supplies are currently in stock. Tacos and hamburgers are the two selections that the restaurant is noted for, but during our visit, the restaurant was out of meat and lettuce, so no burgers or tacos were offered on this late Saturday afternoon. How many restaurants in California, or for that matter the United States, operate without a menu, and prepare meals from whatever ingredients are on hand? Not many... Everybody's Inn is unique, and that adds to the atmosphere, the charm, and to the amazing "rustic" cuisine... Claudia and I love to "mix and match" when we dine together, so each of us enjoyed an identical plate of a half "Pastrami and Cheese" sandwich, and half of a "Ham and Cheese" sandwich. Each plate included Cynthia's amazing homemade onion rings, which always works with us. Each sandwich was built on a large, fresh hoagie roll, lightly toasted, which made the perfect foundation for these amazing sandwiches. Each sandwich began with a generous portion of pastrami or ham, and the meat was fresh and flavorful. Tomato slices were cut on the thick side, along with the avocado slices which graced the "Ham and Cheese" sandwich. The "Ham and Cheese" sandwich featured a couple slices of American cheese, melted just right, and on the "gooey" side, wrapping around the ham, cheese, tomato and avocado. Delicious! The "Pastrami and Cheese" sandwich started with several thick slices of pastrami, enhanced by tomato slices, and featured several slices of Swiss cheese, slightly melted, which made for the perfect sandwich. Both sandwiches were simply amazing, and we couldn't choose which one was our favorite! Cynthia let us know her onion rings are made from "scratch" and cooked after you place your order, and never pre-made. Although the thought crossed our minds to suggest that we enjoy a half order of fries, and half of onion rings, the thought quickly disappeared when Cynthia described her home-made onion rings. Each onion ring started with a fresh, white onion, and was coated with a season batter, with the perfect onion-to-batter ratio. Perfect! I could post more... but I'm out of room. 5 stars for food, friendly service and rustic atmosphere. What's up with Yelp? I tried to post captions on my uploaded photos both yesterday and today, and the caption option has vanished. Yelp, don't you realize that captions are crucial to a review. How are users supposed to know what's going on without a caption? I may have to reconsider posting my eating adventures on Yelp, as I strive for a superior and complete review. Great hometown place. Run by a mom for the past 24 years. Only 2 things on the menu.. burgers or tacos. Sometimes keeping it simple is smarter. The dog actually sat on the bar stool next to me. Just finished our dinner at Everybody's Inn. It's taco Tuesday! Choice between beef, fish, shrimp, and pork. My wife and I shared the fish and shrimp tacos. The food was fantabulous! What a great find on our way to cut down our Christmas tree this year. The beer is ice cold, the conversation was great and the chicken tacos are a must try. Make sure to give the dogs lots of attention, they love it! Can't wait to come back. read more

Stopped in for a cold one on our way back to the Bay Area after camping in the French Meadows. Friendly lady (owner) runs the bar in the daytime. Had a large bottle selection, dogs were friendly, as was the owner. Also, the historic rock outside is cool. An amazing place, thick with hysterical memories placed on the walls, and cynthia the owner can tell you the stories behind them all! They serve the coldest beer in town with a hige selection of craft beers and wine. If your hungry cynthia will make you a plate bigger then you can get in the area for a wonderful price! Anything from burgers fully loaded to a huge taco and of course fries or onions rings. If you dont drink thats ok too she has a cooler full of sodas, juces and waters. The pool table is free to play, you can watch tv or listen to music on the jukebox! And if your really feeling frisky you can play a tune on the piano! Always a fun place to go!! This place is perfect. The lady running the bar, Cynthia, opened this magical little spot just outside of town. Everyone is super friendly here, the place is clean and welcoming. We didn't eat here, but had a beer (Downtown Brown - Lost Coast)- she's got a ton of bottles available and an atm. Sometimes there's live music. The porch and patio are lit and have ample seating. This place is a piece of history. They have everything you would want from a small town saloon tucked into this humble little place. It's got dollar bills all over the ceiling, friendly staff, a pool table, and dogs! The only thing on tap is Bud Light but there is a big bottle selection. Definitely worth stopping in! read more

Just a classic mountain/foothill bar. The lady who owns the place has a heart as big as gold. The host is the dog named Reagan! What a great dog - friendly as can be. The patrons are salt of the earth folks who appreciate this country and the important things in life. I've never eaten here, but the hospitality, service and ambiance are top notch. The building was built in 1946 and has a ton of character. My riding buddies and I enoyed a cold beer outside in front of the fire. For Michael who claimed "tweekers" run the place. Sir, you are off your rocker and should be ashamed of yourself. You sound like a San Francisco resident who was looking for 5 star dining instead of a quaint mountain bar with a ton of character.
