I just felt like soup on this rainy dreary day, don't get me wrong ... I'm loving this inclement weather! Yesterday my surgical procedure was postponed due to something that was found. He has placed me on a liquid diet for the next few days until I go back in for my endoscopic procedure. FYI: This is my experience putting in an online order in advance at this location on a busy holiday. Context: I put in an online order 2 days in advance for a dozen bagels for Mother's day and it was canceled the morning of Mother's day. I found out and had to go to the Pico Rivera location which was not ideal. I called the Alhambra location the morning of Mother's day and no one picked up the phone. I attempted to reorder as soon as I saw the cancelation, but all bagels were labeled as "Sold out". This is just a cautionary tale for those who wish to preorder for major holidays. Orders can be canceled and so if you have major plans that rely on this online service, you have been warned! Otherwise, I have ordered from them before on days that were not major holidays / busy days and they have been fairly reliable. read more

I'm out and about with my older child, who tells me he's suddenly really hungry. The problem is, he just got his braces and can't handle anything other than soup. Good thing there's a Panera across the street from Costco. I haven't been to Panera in a long time and am devastated to learn they discontinued the Italian sandwich! Ugh that was my fave. I quickly settle on a turkey sandwich and a large bowl of the broccoli cheese soup for my older one. He's SO happy so mission accomplished. Register and drink areas and clean and organized. I'm docking 1 star because the dining room was a mess. There were so many vacant tables, but you couldn't use them because no one had cleared off the plates and cups. People were trying to be nice and used 1 or 2 tables as stations for all the dirty plates, but still... no one wants to see that when they're eating. The best Panera near El Monte- only because it's the only drive thru Panera. I also went to the Panera in the valley but that's way too far from the residence we stayed at. I like the mobile order option because I like minimal interaction when I'm hangry. Not to mention it's just my luck that the only time I'm outside for like 10 minutes the people wandering the streets looking for "alcohol" and "pizzas" laser focus on me to get these things for them (do I wear a face that says "choose me"? The Alhambra Panera is hands down one of the busiest Panera Breads in LA County, but the staff provide great service overall- both drive through and sit in. Given the volume of business this location produces, you can't expect it to be as lean as other locations that barely have customers. read more

About a month ago, I went to this Panera and ordered the Modern Caprese Sandwich. The other two people in my party received their food and finally, when my food came, I realized that there was no mozzarella on my sandwich. When I went to complain, they said that they were our of mozzarella. Mind you, they just gave me the sandwich without mentioning that the main component of the sandwich was missing. At least they offered to make me a different sandwich after I complained. A couple of days ago I went back to this Panera before going to Costco. Since I wanted an option without meat and couldn't imagine another disaster like the last time, I decided to try the Caprese Sandwich again. This time, I got a half piece of cheese on the sandwich. I included a photo of when I opened the sandwich up to check it out. This was again after waiting for my food 10 minutes after the rest of my party received their food. When I brought it up to the cashier to complain, she said that was how it was supposed to be. No offer to fix the problem. To make matters worse, the autumn squash soup was really sweet and didn't have much flavor. I am not a difficult person to please. However, I will never return to this Panera. There are definitely two sides to the coin here. There are some things they do great here and some things that need serious help! The good: Their bread- bagels are delicious, the blueberry and orange cranberry muffins are delicious, challah loaves are great for French toast. Pretty much the whole bakery side of things works. Their loyalty program- I signed up and they don't wait for me to redeem points. When I have enough for a discount they take it off my bill. They remind me when things are expiring. Their aguas frescas- they have a twist on these fresh fruit flavored drinks and it works. The Bad: Their entire non bakery menu. Holy cow, they can't get things right. Most noteworthy Fail is the new breakfast wrap with maple glazed bacon. They basically squeeze pancake syrup on their bacon and call it a day. It's disgusting and makes their wrap taste like a pig in a blanket. Their coffee- see picture. I'm still coughing up ground coffee because it was so thick in the pour. Their drive through- I never expected fast food quickness per-se but if it takes almost 15 min to get me my order at 6am without a line inside the store or in the drive through, something is wrong. And it happened more than once. I was looking forward to this place opening in the neighborhood because it gave me a new breakfast option but alas it has not worked out. Between bad coffee, slow service and poorly made savory food, I'd rather go without breakfast. I've had to resort to visiting only when I want bread. What a missed opportunity. read more

I usually love ordering salads here, especially the ones that come with chicken. My recent favorite in season is the strawberry poppy chicken salad and all my previous orders have been on point but my most recent order... not so much. I had ordered the strawberry poppy salad and the customizations were right but there was no chicken in the salad (double checked to see if I had accidentally selected "no chicken" but I had not). I dug through the salad to check again and even checked the bottom but not a plain piece of chicken in sight. Instead, tomatoes and pickled onions were added and both I did not ask for. Luckily, I am not allergic to any of the surprise add-ons and went about to eat everything because I don't like to waste any food with exception that they make me feel sick, allergens, etc. I usually don't make reviews like such but I feel it's important to be careful when making foods like such in case someone were to be allergic to them. I love making the best out of these situations and won't say stuff like your employees need further training, I won't come back again, rate poorly, etc. But I do again hope that this mishap doesn't happen to someone else who's health is easily compromised by such. The reason why I don't check my food when getting take out at most places I've come to trust is because of that trust but these days I will start to check as I feel I've been too lenient with such situations so I save more time, money, and the small amount of sadness from seeing stuff missing so do check your orders and please if any trouble and you're still around, let the employees know and politely if you can! I know what it's like especially working two jobs in this area and we do love patience and understanding! read more

Came here for a quick bite after a long day of work! I ordered a "you pick two" - broccoli cheddar soup (bowl size) and Napa Almond Chicken Salad "to go". I opened my "to go" order when I got home and I was SO DISAPPOINTED in the food!! I decided to upgrade my soup from a cup to a bowl size and the soup was only filled up halfway; it wasn't even filled up all the way! For the chicken almond sandwich, there was barely any meat. Majority of the sandwich was just almonds and few pieces of chicken. I felt like I was only eating two slices of bread with almond only! We gave this place multiple chances but they never seem to improve. I would recommend going to a different Panera (like the one in Pasadena on Foothill Blvd that would give you better portion) or go to Mendocino Farms where you can get better food quality for your money!!! read more

The honey walnut spread had gone bad and tasted sour like it was in the heat, but the date on the bottom wasn't past due. I truly don't understand why Panera Bread is so popular. I haven't had too much experience with other locations, but this one kind of disappoints. Their menu is pretty big and can be sometimes intimidating if you're doing the combo, items, it's a little tough to guesstimate what the final price is going to end up being and what items you can choose. I ordered the Steak & Arugala sandwich, and it came out cold! Upon further research, this is how it's supposed to be. Never had a cold steak sandwich before, and definitely think it should've had a note stating that. The sides are okay. The soup is French Onion Soup is pretty good, but I just think everything here is overpriced. $10+ for a regular sized sandwich with no sides. On top of that, this location needs a lot of work on cleanliness as we had to wipe our own tables down. Also, the wifi was so slow, it was not workable... Big, spacious location with plenty of parking, but I would not recommend Panera and much rather prefer Corner Bakery or something. read more

So disappointing that their prices have gone up extremely and yet, the quantity of food is minimal or less on their salads. Conveniently adding small amounts of chicken and no avocado. I was so excited that there will be one so close to home, but right away, after my first visit, i was automatically disappointed. I popped in for dinner with the hubby, while waiting in line to order, when it was literally my turn a random lady decides to cut me. The sales associate (or idk what Panera calls em), saw it too, but didn't bother with say anything and let the rude lady order anyways. SO clearly waiting in line is pointless here. My food arrived really quick, from the looks of it, it was all good until I touched my spoon. It was red, like tomato basil red. Neither the hubs or I ordered red soup, so it was most def not mine. I didn't bother with asking for another one, figured it was a waste of time. The hubs and I just ate our food and left. Overall I was a bit disappointed, I got to a few locations before, customer service and cleanliness of other stores were always on point but this one seems to be lacking. Maybe they are still new, but idk. Parking - is alright, its just a matter of time before this parking lot becomes a problem. Not all store fronts are open yet and parking spaces are already lacking. It's brand new location in Alhambra on a brand new plaza. Plenty of parking to go around. Chicken salad was very fresh and had just enough greens even for the half portion. Few slices of chicken, cranberries and some cheese. Cup of Tomato purée soup with sour dough piece of bread were a good compliment for the salad. It was not too sweet and had some chunks of tomatoes inside. Great and fast restaurant with very fresh ingredients and friendly personal. read more
