It's been a while since I've been to Panera Bread but with seeing the advertisement for the Spicy Steak Asiago Bagel Stack and having gift card(s), I decided to stop by. It wasn't busy so I was able to place my order at the register pretty quickly and it didn't take long to receive my order. I chose the " you pick 2" and had the Rustic baked potato soup with the stack. Also by signing up on the app, I received a free bakery item, the Chocolate Chipper cookie was a great choice! Although I didn't dine in, it appears to have plenty of seating and I may enjoy my next meal there on a future visit. read more

NOTE: before we left, saw and spoke with manager. Told him most of issues I've noted below. He was very kind, patient, and attentive and offered to "make it right", so everything a manager should do. He also noticed that the front counter had rang up the soup correctly but for some reason the kitchen staff put tomato on the tray. We declined any offering to make it right and pointed out to him we did eat the meal. We just believe in letting management know when improvements are needed. MAIN REVIEW: Mediocre. Front counter staff must be new. Told me All sandwiches other than Melts are Cold. I found the TOASTED frontega chicken sandwich on the menu myself. Couldn't decide between tomato soup and French onion - asked her which would pair better with the chicken sandwich, she didn't answer me. I chose French onion but tomato soup was on my tray. Happily-married-spouse ordered tuna sandwich with all veggies on the side. Sandwich was prepared with vegetables on the sandwich. The food was acceptable. We didn't lick our plates but we did eat the meal. The atmosphere was nice, Soft 70s/80s music playing. Men's bathroom clean and decent. It's a great spot to stop and get a family meal for a reasonable price. The establishment is very clean, and the staff is friendly. They always clean the tables and ask if you need anything. This Panera is the absolute worst! I ask for my soup without cheese every time I go here, and for some reason they always have an issue. Most of the time I explain the issue and they fix it--as they should. However, this time they got my order completely wrong. I explained to the person working the counter and off the bat he caught an attitude. He remade the order, but it was still wrong. I went back to correct him and he remade it again--still with a nasty attitude. I get home to find out they just dumped part of the soup out to get the cheese off the top. This is such a great place to eat because there a little bit of everything here. First off make sure you get a rewards card and download the app so you can get freebies. I love their french onion soup. They put croutons and gruyere cheese on it and comes with a French baguette. The broccoli cheddar is another one of my favorites as well. It is so cheesey and good. The frontega chicken sandwich comes with fresh mozzarella, onions tomatoes and I get the regular mayo instead of the chipotle mayo. The cheese and chocolate danishes are excellent as well. Panera Bread is a great place in alabaster to grab soup, salad, and amazing sandwiches! This location has been consistently amazing for years. The restaurant is conveniently located in a corner of the Promenade in alabaster. Parking can be a pain during their lunch rush, so be prepared to hike if you don't get there early! They always have plenty of staff on hand to take orders and clean the dining area. There is ample seating, and you frequently see people working on their computers while they munch. I've tried a lot of things on their menu and I've narrowed down a few of my faves! The Green Goddess salad is incredible! The salad greens are topped with avocados, red onion, hard boiled egg, and chicken. So. Freaking. Tasty. I also love the Frontega chicken sandwich, warm and cheesy. They offer a wide variety of bagels, breads, cookies, and more...and they are all fresh and delicious. Definitely check this place out when you want a fast and tasty meal! read more

What has happened to Panera Bread? Lunch today was a steak and white cheddar sandwich with French onion soup. Soup was very tasty but the sandwich, well where's the meat? Two, yes two very thin shaved pieces of meat and one thin sliced piece of cheddar. Very poor!! This is the second visit to Panera in 30 days with virtually the same outcome. Tables were dirty, I had to go to the bathroom wet paper towels to clean the table and the seat. Again, awesome food and service. Today i had a breakfast wrap and my wife had a breakfast sandwich When she bit into it she did not like the scramble egg so she asked if she could have her egg overeasy. This chain has a great business plan and is becoming on of my favorites. It was within 45 minutes of closing but my food was still freshly prepared and correct. There are not many places like that. Ordered two half and half, one with soup and sandwich, one sandwich with a salad. I don't even miss not having a soda fountain because their lemonade and teas are delicious. The building is clean and was fully stocked. My order was completed by a nice young man and he got it completely as I ordered. The strawberry salad has a bitter green but the green goddess dressing I requested helped it. Otherwise it was outstanding. Both sandwiches were great even though I thought I ordered a tuna instead of the chicken salad I received. It was delicious so I just enjoyed it. I love their roasted onion soup. My only complaint is the bread that was included with the salad and soup was just dropped in the bag sans a wrapping. Otherwise the dogs and I enjoyed our meal. read more

I love Panera Bread, but my experience today with Jennifer Pitts (shift supervisor) left a bad taste in my mouth with the Alabaster location. I've been to this location many many times before and have experienced good customer service; however, this time was different. I came to the restaurant earlier this week to purchase a cup of broccoli cheddar soup and noticed that one of the workers had a pan of freshly baked cookies out to put on the display table. Fast forward to today, I visited the same location around the same time and noticed the the dessert display looked skimpy and did not have the same variety of cookies out as they did earlier. I asked the cashier (Jennifer Pitts) if they had any fresh cookies to sale or planned on cooking any, as I planned to purchase some. She said in a very smart mouthed tone "All of our cookies are fresh and we cook them every morning at 4 am". I said ma'am that is not what I asked you. I then repeated my question to her and she continued to over talk me and ignore me. I told her that I was no longer interested in the desserts and wanted to order my soup. She then proceeded to check me out with a nasty smirky attitude. Needless to say, I did contact the corporate office and made an official complaint about Jennifer Pitts and I do hope that she receive training on appropriate customer service skills and this is unacceptable. read more

We usually go to a Panera restaurant in B'ham area after church on Sundays. We just moved into the vicinity of this Panera. It is the dirtiest we've been to. We come back only because it's close to home. The carpet is worn down and almost completely black from the foot traffic, the floor in the kitchen is always filthy, we've never seen anyone cleaning the floors during slow periods. Even the broom behind the counter is dirty from sweeping the black floor and carpet tiles. We tolerate it, though, because we like the food. The behind-the-counter area is disorganized; insight perhaps into the overall operation. Manager: please replace the carpet tiles and pay attention to detail! read more

I am Doordash. I went into pickup my customers orders, and they asked for utensils with their order. There were not any in the bag so I asked the manager. First I was ignored. Second, he said she always puts them in the bag. As you can guess.. none in the bag. He proceeds to tell me they don't need any when she specifically messaged me for utensils. Again tells me I don't need any. Asked again very politely for some utensils and all he did was point. It's hard to write a review for a chain. *In general* panera is very good and offers really yummy soups, salads, and sandwiches and occasionally a healthy option. But for some reason this panera leaves me feeling very "meh" each time. The pastries I've brought home are just okay. The service is just okay. The ambiance seems a little grungier than most. They're always out of the stuff I happen to want (my own fault I suppose as panera offers a TON of irregular rotating items). But the weirdest thing is the coke machine - only ONE diet soda offering, and it's caffeine-free. This is useless. I want caffeine! 3 stars, it is.
