It can quickly fill up - at peak times the seating can be impossible. The pastries are beautifully displayed. The big printed wall menu is a nice touch. Service: You pay first and they either bring it out to you or you pick up. You may have to wait in line awhile, but the employees have always been helpful explaining the items. The food: French cafe sty;e food with a wide variety of beautifully made pastries, coffee, sandwiches, soup, salads (including salmon), and cake. The lunch item I ordered was the chicken pesto sandwich which I liked. But what I like most are their pastries. My favorites include the cinnamon twist which is dough twisted with a butter-cinnamon-sugar filling and dusted with powdered sugar. Hint: If you take it home, put it in warm over for 5-10 minutes and let is cool slightly. It'll be warm and crispy, tender and sweet with a great aroma. Also like the the tarts - cookie crust with different fillings - raspberry, multi fruit, pear, pecan. They're small but rich in taste. There is a wide variety of buttery croissants, like chocolate and apple which are yummy. However my favorite item is their almond croissant. It's generously filled with almond paste in a butter croissant and almond slices on top. If you get there at opening, you might get lucky and it will still be warm. It's the only thing I've ever eaten in my car before going home to bring the rest of my haul home. If the place was bigger, I'd probably come here more often for lunch or even dinner. I sat at a bar top that happened to have an outlet but I didn't see any other outlets. I stayed until 4ish and the place had slowed down. Before leaving I also order an affogato with their cookie caramel gelato. Delicious! There is plenty of seating at the bar tops or regular tables. Music choice is great. A very aesthetic French bakery that I'm happy they have in the OC area. I appreciate the variety of menu options and pastries. The workers were very helpful with walking us through the menu. The bread for the sandwiches is well made and they give very generous portions for the price. The scrambled eggs sandwich was very well balanced with the ingredients you were able to get pieces of all of the toppings in every bite. They were also very generous with the amount of turkey that was in the turkey in Brie sandwich. It did slightly overshadow the Brie taste wise, but it was still an excellent dish. Horrible service. The gentleman taking my order was distracted by someone else there prior just hanging out and chit chatting with him. He got my order all wrong, forgot two of the items, and had to ring me up twice. He had no idea what the pastries were and I had to tell him, I also repeated myself 2-3 times to remind him what I ordered. Pandor's food is great, however they need to train better or hire employees who know what they are doing. At 8:30am, there were already a good amount of people at the restaurant and they were playing a football (European) game on the Tv. We waited in line briefly and were checked out very quickly. First of all, let me begin by saying that I have been a customer of Pandor Bakery since their first location in Newport Beach and now that they are in Irvine, and very close to me, I come here regularly. The food is consistently good but the service today was atrocious. I realize that it's quick serve restaurant but good service is always appreciated. I came with a friend on a weekday morning and dined in. I was served my pastry in a paper bag after I had told them I was dining in and had to ask for a plate. I tipped the requisite 15% but regretted doing so immediately after. I had to get my own utensils for my pastry in a bag and then was told that I could not be in that area (behind the counter because there were no utensils out front)...mind you, NO ONE was behind the counter at the time. They were all gathered in the back of the store for some odd reason. Later I noticed the barista walking by our table (empty handed). He was on his way to tell the guy who took our order that our coffee was ready. He in turn came from behind the counter to tell us that our coffee was ready and where to go to pick it up. Really? He couldn't take an extra 20 steps to bring it to us? I'm still scratching my head over why I bothered tipping but I guess we were interrupting his phone time since there were no other customers in line waiting. I wish I could tell you his name but he was logged into the register as Anne Marie C. according to my $39 receipt. So many training opportunities for this morning's crew! In my more recent visits, the staff have been standoffish and sometimes rude. I'm not sure it's worth it to dine in though, maybe just get it to go. My pandor club was delicious and my friend and I agreed the fries are amazing.
