I came here with some friends pre-covid. I hadn't been to a Mongolian place in a long time and this place checked all the boxes. It's always fun to watch them cook your food for you and it always smells great. I really liked their noodles and the appetizer bar was a nice addition. It's a small mom and pop restaurant that has a pretty clean interior. Honestly, the bathroom smelled pretty bad, so it was in need of some cleaning. Service was pretty slow! Ok, on to the fun part: the food!! I built the bowl with a bunch of veggies and beef. The sauce wasn't as good as Genghis Khan, so I had to add some extra hot sauce, but the ingredients themselves were pretty fresh. Portions are generous! I was super stuffed after the meal. This place is not what you expect, if you are familiar with the "Mongolian BBQ" format. Most Mongolian BBQ spots have a sort of serve-yourself "meat and ingredient" bar where the customer walks along and loads their bowl with raw ingredients (including noodles, thinly sliced frozen meats and loads of different vegetables). Then you put whatever combination of sauce you like on it and hand it to the cook who is working the grill... there are famous Mongolian BBQ places in Westwood by UCLA and in Hermosa Beach on Sepulveda - and I am sure many other locations It looks like this place USED to be the normal Mongolian BBQ format.. but for some reason, it is no longer what you would expect... you no longer get to walk along, look at the options.. and pick what you want and load your bowl... Now there is a paper "menu options" that you circle what you want (and if you want more than a couple of ingredients, there is an $$ upcharge). you get to pick one protein from the ~7 options (some are more expensive upcharges), only 3 veggies (of the 20 options) - any more than 3 is more money like a pizza place... you get the idea. The traditional Mongolian BBQ model was appealing because the guest got to walk along and look at the options... and have fun "building" what they wanted in whatever combination and quantities they wanted - and then could hand it to the cook and watch the "theater" of cooking. For some reason, these owners have chosen to go a different direction and it is more like a sandwich place where they give you an "options" sheet and a pencil and you circle the type of bread, the type of meat, which condiments you want.. and then they make it for you behind the scenes. Its not to say that this format is "bad" - it is just not what many folks would be familiar with, given the format of "Mongolian BBQ" restaurants. Also, for some reason, they have some small pet turtles in a plastic bin next to the fountain drinks. The smell of the turtles is horrible - it made my wife gag. She will never go back. Also, there was no offer of those wonderful sesame roll things that Mongolian BBQ places always have? Anyhow - aside from the turtle smell, the food was "good." But not differentiated from other Asian stir-fry restaurants. This format is not really the Mongolian BBQ model that so many of us love! They have all of the old equipment to do the traditional Mongolian BBQ structure - hopefully they reconsider and return to the normal model. read more

My wife and I went there a week ago. Has the ownership changed? We don't know for sure but the meal quantity and quality has gone down. From the printed menu we ordered our usual meat and vegetable combos with rice, and what we got was much smaller quantity of meat and vegetables over a thick bed of rice. In the past, rice always came on the side. This must be their answer to shrinkflation. Sad but I don't think we will be dining there any more. All the times I've been here, the noodles have always tasted great, service is friendly, and tables are clean... nothing to complain about! They have a menu on the top right corner of their plastic shield (COVID times) that says something about 20% off order online? I asked the cashier about that but she didn't know about it since it was new, so I can't really say anything about that other than maybe you can try your luck with that? Who's looking for an affordable and decent quality AYCE Mongolian restaurant? I do! If you are here for dinner, you only have two options. The 1st option is plate option ($11.95, one bowl only with unlimited salad bar - Monday to Friday) and the 2nd option is AYCE (all-you-can-eat) option ($12.95 during Monday to Friday and $13.95 on weekends & holidays). If you do take out, then lunch to go is $8.95 and dinner to go is $9.95. Honestly though the buffet selection isn't all that impressive - fried rice (didn't look very appealing), cream cheese wontons (I only ate the cream cheese part), chicken wontons (same thing - only ate the chicken part), egg rolls, pocket breads (decent but tasted a bit bland), sesame balls (mediocre), hot and sour soup (not even spicy at all - meh), egg flower soup, desserts (jello, fruits, etc), and macaron ice cream sandwiches (need to pay extra). If I had to rate their side buffets and dessert bar, I would probably only give a 2-star or 3-star. Luckily, their create-your-own-Mongolian bowl bar is the heart and soul of this restaurant - noodles (thick yellow or egg noodle, glass noodle, etc.), meats (lamb and sole fish are only available for dinner), vegetables (mushroom, green pepper, celery, bean sprouts, carrots, broccoli, cilantro, tofu, jalapeno, etc), sauces (you only need to add 1 ~ 2 scoops of any flavored sauces), and spices (chili powder [half a scoop is perfect for me - I tried a full scoop of chili powder and it was too spicy], chopped garlic, black pepper [again just half a scoop is good enough], etc. Each bowl typically takes about 5 minutes to cook and don't forget to leave tips for chefs (tip jar is right next to the Sriracha bottle / bottle of sesame seeds). I had two rounds of food and overall I was pretty satisfied with my own creation! I can tell you Panda Mongolian BBQ is way better than most of Mongolian BBQ in the malls. Excited to see a Mongolian BBQ with pocket bread on this side of town. Entered and was told to pick a table and they would bring us a menu. Brought two paper menus, two pens, and a laminated menu. He explained that you can build your own by marking ingredients and they make it for you, including your sauce mixture. Once we chose what we wanted, we had to take everything back to him at the cashier station. Odd, but ok. Went there and there was a line of people waiting to order take out. So I'm seated in the restaurant and now I have to wait in line again, after waiting to be seated. Give them our order. Wait at the table for about 10 minutes and no drinks or utensils. Then hubby wants to move to a booth, now that they are empty, as we didn't like sitting right next to the restroom area. I go up and ask if we can move, cashier says yes, but we need to have someone clean it first. Ok. We wait next to the booth and the cashier finishes with stuff he's doing, looks at us, and continues working. After waiting another 10 minutes or so, hubby gets impatient and goes and asks the lady who is building dishes and taking them to cook and then to customers to have someone clean the table. She says yes. She then tells the cashier we are waiting to have the table cleaned and to go clean it. He continues doing other stuff, then finishes and walks to the back area. We are like ok, he's going to get stuff to bus and clean the table. Nope, he just stays back there. We are now mad as we have been there almost 20-25 minutes, not sitting, no drinks, etc, so we end up leaving. People next to us, party of 3 also got up and left as nobody came to take their order or acknowledged them. I know times are tough, but they need more staff here and need to go back to the serve yourself method and stop price gouging for every little thing. We left there and drove to Ghanghis Khan on Trask and Garden Grove Blvd. and we had a full meal, made our own bowls too and they also only had 3 people working. Ordered a lunch plate to go and it was pretty good! Maybe it's because I ordered rice noodles, but it did feel like my bowl was mostly noodles and minimal meat/vegetables. I didn't want to pay for any extras... but still wish the proportions were better. This is probably the most disappointing Mongolian grill restaurant that I've tried in this area. The sauces and oils are fairly bland, and the portion is quite disappointing for the price. They limit portions by not allowing patrons to build their own bowls -- you make your selections on a sheet of paper, and the staff make your bowl for you. You can see how my meal only fills half the container in the attached photo. Not really worth $13. They also cap your veggie options at 4 selections. Anything beyond that is an up charge. Certain meats are also up charged, so if you're not careful, you could easily hit $20 on an entree by selecting too many options. Their AYCE option is a whopping $22+tax, which is really overpriced given that no other Mongolian place charges more than $18. I'm guessing this restaurant doesn't get a lot of repeat visitors. Bottom line : the food is a 1/5 but the staff are kind and the restaurant is clean, so I gave them an extra star for that. read more

I really wanted to like this place. However, it was so bad that I had to write something. I ordered a meal that had chicken, lamb, and beef. I added three sauces including the "famous" house sauces. My gf got cream cheese wontons and pocket bread for both of us. Here's my breakdown: 1. My meal- BLAND. It literally tasted like they added some chicken broth to the noodles and that's it. No flavor, no spice, nothing. The lamb was bad, it had a sour taste to it. Honestly Panda Express is light years ahead of this place. 2. Pocket bread- old, flattened, cold, and still doughy in the inside 3. Cream cheese wontons- super small and had a weird sweet taste I saw several patrons going to the sauce table and try to dump various sauces into their dishes to try and give it some flavor. The concept is similar to any other MBBQ place, you create a bowl with various carbs, proteins, and veggies, and then you bring it over to the cook to prepare for you. Time for some pro/cons! ( cue music) Pro: You can do ayce or 1 bowl. There are no funky smells or sketchy looking food choices. They have coupons and $20 for $10 available. The way the charge kids is amazing, the kid's age is the price, so this is great for little ones. Staff is friendly and attentive, dirty plates don't last long. Cons: The meat is frozen, so quality isn't as solid. If you go too frequently you will get over it fast (me) so space it out! Looking forward to going again ( in a few months) read more

I ordered from this establishment for my first time off of Uber Eats. I got a Fresh Mongol Lunch with my own customization. When I got the food, it was still piping hot, so I was very impressed with the packaging of my order. In terms of the actual dish, it was very savory and filling. For around $14-15, not including the delivery fee and tip, you are getting high quality Mongolian stir fry. I found this place thanks to a local flavor offer. You can get one bowl and take some home it you don't finish for $11.99. For only $2 more you can have all you eat Mongolian BBQ, appetizers,soup and dessert. Total bargain. Only thing is no take home with this deal. They have plenty of choices to create your main plate. You build your bowl using a checklist on a clipboard, which I understand due to save COVID practices, but you're limited on the options you can choose without being up-charged. For example, you're only allowed to pick 4 veggies, everything else is an extra charge. They also have different prices for lunch and dinner even though it's not all you can eat and the portion size is the same. (Ripoff) The meat and veggies were served hot and seemed fresh, but the noodles were just ok. My egg rolls (another extra $2) were still cold/frozen in the middle. They have good pocket breads (cost extra), but no "build your own" and their sauces aren't nearly what Pan Asia had. It's "fine". Food tastes good too. 2-3 stars because of their option for "triple meat". We selected both double and triple meat for our two dishes. Both dishes were pretty low in actual meat pieces. If you took my triple meat, which I paid extra for, and divided it into 3 portions, I cant imagine youd get more than 1 actual beef pieces with a small handful of beef scrapes. I have a feeling their double and triple meat options just cue the person filling your bowl to throw some extra pieces in and not truly double or triple. In fact, I watched the older lady sit scraping the raw chicken bit trying to get the tiniest little shreds of raw chicken out of the empty bin in order to fill one of our bowls. At the base price, my meal was 12.99 and good value in today's world. But it irks me that I desperately wanted a bowl of meat, ordered the triple meat (+$5) and literally dont think I got much extra, let alone triple. The picture on the menu shows very generous triple portions of large meat chunks. I had maybe 4-5 actual pieces of meat in triple meat bowl with some uncountable small shavings. It's a shame. I'd love to swing by this place, but I cant get over the tiny shredded bits of meat and the lack of any discernable difference between single, double, and triple meat upcharge. All you can eat Mongolian BBQ for such a cheap price?! I've passed by this place countless of times on my way to Poki Ya and DK's Donuts, but after a craving I decided to check this place out. Their AYCE lunch costs $9.95 which is an amazing deal considering Mongolian BBQ places in the mall will charge similar pricing but for only one bowl's worth of food. I'll admit that the quality of the food isn't the best you'll have, but for the cheap cost of the food it's hardly worth complaining about. They also have a check-in offer during Monday through Friday 3-5PM where you'll get 15% off your buffet so it's even cheaper! The buffet includes: fried rice (if you would rather have that compared to the noodles), a selection of noodles, meats, veggies, and spices! I honestly tapped out after the first round but my boyfriend was happy to come back for more! If you still have room for dessert, on the opposite end of the restaurant is where you'll find it. I unfortunately did not have much, but they do have a selection of hot and cold desserts for you to choose from as well as some other appetizers. I'll admit that of the ones I did get to try, like the egg drop soup, spring rolls, and sesame balls, they weren't spectacular but I guess they get the job done. This was a great spot for our group. We had about 5 of us In our group and we used a Groupon to save $20 off our meal. The meal was already priced fair and we all got three plates of food each. The dessert menu wasn't as great as the main dish and I didn't know there was salad and egg rolls since it was in the dessert secton. Our server was pleasant and kind and although she could have been a little more attentive to us, she was very friendly and I enjoyed her personality and smile. I went 4 rounds and each time I got one bowl of veggies and one bowl meats. They also have variety of noodles, meats, veggies, and alot of different type of sauces.. But I didn't get any noodles or rice because I was trying to stay away for carbs haha. Very clean, nice atmosphere and good service. They also have desserts, egg rolls and salad on the other side.
