Absolutely delicious, authentic, and piping hot food (& tea) was served at lunch in a very timely fashion. It was the best Chinese food I have had in the 27 years I have lived in Nevada. I would have to go to Chinatown in SF to get better. I had lots of food to take home and it is still great on Day 2 /dinner time. I was honestly very skeptical about trying Chinese food in Carson City, NV. Having lived close to Houston most of my life, I'm no stranger to good Chinese food. This place serves pretty good food. Their chicken items were perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Their hot and sour soup was good. Note: things that are labeled spicy aren't that spicy. Called in our order - pretty straightforward. Drove in to town to pick it up, asked if everything was all there - yup they said. Got home and guess what it was an entire wrong order. Called them up, ooops our mistake (not the first I might add), drove back into town to pick up the correct order that was sitting on the counter. Guess what they wanted us to take the food that was sitting there and had gotten cold. Finally after much discussion they remade the order. My granddaughter took each item out of the bags to make sure it was correct and drove back home. This all involved a 20 mile trip back and forth and the food was not very good.. As a recent transplant to the Reno/Sparks/Carson city area, I have struggled with the poor quality and taste of the Chinese food here. Its incredibly difficult to find even mediocre Chinese food in Northern Nevada. Panda Kitchen was suggested to me as eh best in Carson City. Well, that's disappointing......it is a little better than ok. I had kung pao shrimp. It came with fried shrimp??? Never seen that before!?!?!? Also with large chopped onions (the majority of the dish), and green pepper and a few, very few sliced carrots with peanuts in a spicy, garlicy, thin dark sauce that wasn't too bad.. Seemed more like Hunan shrimp to me. Also came with an egg roll that was fried in spring roll wrapper and mostly just cabbage, a typical cruddy, cheap egg roll. Also came with choice of soup: egg drop or hot and sour. I went with H&S...it wasn't bad...again edible but nothing special. I might return to try again. I heard that they have a real good egg foo young. We will see in the future. read more

Since the ownership changed, I visit this place quite more than I used before. Usually the service was great, I like the skinny old man as a server. Last time I ordered to go, the girl on the phone wasn't friendly, she didn't ask me what do I want for my lunch special? ( fried rice or chow mein ) and what kind of soup? I had to tell her that I wanted hot sour soup and fried rice. Came to pick up my order, it wasn't ready yet :( I asked for the chili oil and I only got a tiny little cup for 4 boxes of lunch special. Just rolled in from a 2 year project in PA and very much looking forward to some home town favorite, like war wonton soup from Panda Kitchen. so that's what I ordered on Grubhub, along with potstickers. When my order arrived there was no utensils (and soup is not a finger food), no napkins, no soy sauce and no dipping sauce for my pot stickers. The war wanton broth was extremely watered down and virtually flavorless. The vegetables were mushy and disgusting. They even left out those little baby corn cobs and water chestnuts! I was so pissed off by this point I didn't even try my dry potstickers, I just threw it all out...along with $38 I'll never see again and ordered from Ming's. I heard they changed ownership. Whatever happened, they're NOT the same Panda Kitchen I use to love. In fact, they're just plain bad! If anyone from the restaurant reads this review, please notify me when new ownership takes over as that's clearly inevitable. Another great thing about Panda kitchen is their food is so fresh! Another new favorite of mine is the Almond Shrimp. They were rude, and bothered saying they included it. Which they did not. The lady on the phone agreed, so my husband went back to pick up the rice, once picking il the lady who handed him the food prior basically threw the rice at my husband. This little restaurant has the cutest atmosphere, the employees are all really kind and great at their jobs and the food is phenomenal! My wife and I frequent this place so they know our names, our favorite foods, and our favorite place to sit. Its always so much fun to have dates here. i ordered Szechuan shrimp today that is supposed to be spicy when it came to my table the tiny shrimp was covered in what looked like an inch of batter deep fried I've never had Szechuan shrimp prepared in this fashion it was supposed to be spicy and yet it was covered in some kind of sweet sauce I cracked open each battered shrimp to see how big they were , looked like to me they were trying to cover up less than quality ingredients that was supposed to be normal size shrimp , My son ordered sesame beef which was also listed as a spicy dish and it was also covered in some sweet sugary syrup it had some red looking chili flakes but once again it was a disappointment as well, my wife ordered broccoli and chicken which looked good and my wife said it was good and I tried it the broccoli chicken didn't look too appetizing so maybe I should've complained and sent it back but I didn't I just paid for it I just will not be patronizing that place ever again I guess do today previous owner moving on the new owners obviously don't know how to cook certain things because I've been to many Chinese restaurants and I've never ever had sex one shrimp be sweet and the shrimp deep fried in batter my experience today was total disappointment and unsatisfying I feel like I was ripped off. So sad to see how this has turned out. Went for dinner and could not eat anything! Everything we had was horrible tasting even the soda and lemonade were awful and did not taste right. Staff did not understand what we were asking, the food was completely wrong and when I made mention they just smiled and said ok. The place needs a solid cleaning, the soy on the table was crusted shut, everything was sticky and they need to update and repair many areas. Very sad how they kept the name, the decor and menus but they have changed the ingredients of the food so much it is unnoticeable. They have a sushi bar, there were about 5 items displayed in the case and none of it was even close to looking fresh or edible. I would bet money if the health department went in during the time we were there the A rating displayed on the door would have been cut up! Our plates were still full when they picked them up, nothing said ( must be normal for them to see that) paid without argue because I felt sorry for them and got out of there heads down sad. read more

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites, until Steven sold it. It all went downhill from there. I wnt in one day and was seated by a window, bad idea. The windowsill was filled with dead flies, then I got my food, and flies started flying around my head. It grossed me out. I didnt go back until recently. A disaster all around. The waitress was useless, I'm not sure she even understood most of what I said, and it took awhile to get the things I wanted. Then, I had ordered the szechuan shrimp, my former favorite, turns out, they had completely changed the recipe, and it was nothing like it used to be. General chicken w chow main noodles, soup, spring roll and shrimp... the only thing I thought was really good was the egg flower soup. The chow main noodle were extra large (thick) there was no veggies in the chow main (I miss the old chow main from years ago (smaller noodles w the pieces of veggies in it). The wasabi has absolutely no heat, no kick, no bite. Very disappointing. My entire dish is just not as good as it should be because it lacks a huge component to sushi. Although the ownership has changed, I've been a fan of Panda Kitchen in Carson City for nearly 28 years. The reason? Their food quality has never been anything short of excellent, and they've always been courteous and attentive. I'm no longer a local, but I do visit every few months when I am able. The menu is still robust, with options for every palette, and the food is always quickly prepared. They've been a staple Chinese Food restaurant for decades, and there's a reason for that. My review may be bias based on being in the area for a long time and remembering Panda Kitchen as it once was.. Steve (previous owner) made some of the best consistent chinese food i have ever had! His sweet & sour sauce was incredible.. Wouldnt give me the recipe!! but gave me a hint "lots of fruit!!" i tried!! epic fail.. sweet & sour chicken, Beef and brocolli with bamboo chutes!! ohh my!! bbq Pork fried rice with SLICES of marinated char siu loin and bean sprouts???!!! oh my again!! death bed meal for me!! best chinese food i have ever had and i am forty now.. I know he originally turned the business over to his cousin?? or something.. changed all the recipes added sushi and overcooked the food.. your meat choice is often jerky now especially if you have leftovers!' ugh! prices are now way too high even before inflation hit.. It may even have another owner as everyone is new again and we keep going back with that glimmer of hope!' Food is still mediocre at best.. (Chinese, Thai, Pho, Sushi all offered now) We have tried multiple times and will not leave a food based review if we have not gave multiple chances on overall quality of the food in most cases. Service, size, pricing we may differ and leave a review based on overall experience and value.. Here we are mainly disappointed in the food.. One of the only positive things is its 9:30 closing time.. last minute late night craving for chinese?? At least they are there to answer the call!! Sorry..
