We ate at the newly renovated Panda Inn tonight. We had been regulars at the previous Panda Inn for 2 decades. The renovation is beautiful, with an entrance on the side now, a parking structure, an expansive outdoor eating area with heat lamps, and high ceilings inside. The food and service were excellent. Had a Forbidden Martini which was not too sweet with a hint of cinnamon flavor. Had the spicy nachos, cucumber salad, tea smoked duck, mu shu chicken, assorted lo mein, Mongolian beef, and green beans. Food is even better than before. There was a bit of a wait for the beef and green beans so they comped those dishes which was unexpected and very nice of them since we didn't complain about it. The only negative was that there is a vent that blows cool air from the ceiling, and this vent goes all the way across the restaurant, so bring a jacket or wrap because the restaurant is too booked to move you. They have cozy booths and some private rooms. We can't wait to go back! read more

Seems like they create an allure with long wait times quoted but 1.5hr wait time was only 30 min. They also tell you you cannot stay for more than 2 hours which is pretty ridiculous . Food is good otherwise. read more

We ordered dinner here this evening and I have to say, we were all so disappointed. Prior to when they closed a couple of years ago, Panda Inn was our favorite place for Chinese food. However, everything we ordered tonight tasted bland and was really super oily. We ordered the sweet and pungent shrimp, Mongolian beef, wonton soup, and chicken lo mein. Never again! The Hot & Sour Soup was hot and sour alright, but not tasty at all. The only duck menu came without anything else, just buns and rice. It did have an interesting taste, though. But the beef was absolutely awful: just chewy and not editable. The interior was excellent, and the service by the waiter was friendly. But we won't be back. read more

My friend told me that this is the origin of Panda Express. All the dish we ordered was excellent. Short rib was really tender, Honey walnut shrimp was crispy outside and jury/tender inside. It wasn't too sweet either. Bowling place was in 2 min from there, we enjoyed meal and bowling together in the same area. It was nice! Talk about a nice restaurant!! You do have to reserve a spot in advanced as you might have to wait if you just walk in. However the service was on point! My daughter loves Panda Express so why not try Panda Inn. This is a fancy version of Panda Express. I like their white chocolate covered fortune cookies!! ::Food:: We liked the Crispy Calamari a lot! It was lightly battered and very flavorful. I enjoyed the garlic and spicy flavor. The Upside Down Crispy Noodle had too much Napa Cabbage. It was crispy but needed more sauce. ::Customer Service:: -Kenny was welcoming and attentive! He was the highlight of our dining experience. I've come here for lunch before, but this was my first time having their Sunday brunch. I was pleasantly surprised! What an assortment!! We arrived at 11am and there was plenty of parking and no wait. Great service. Our iced tea, mimosas and water glasses were never empty. The selection of food was wonderful. In addition to the regular Panda dishes, there was sushi, crispy pork and a great dessert bar. (The orange chicken here is better than the Express version) They also have party rooms for birthdays and other celebrations. By the time we left (around 1pm) we heard the wait was 40 mins. read more

Let me be real here. When I first heard of Panda Inn (many moons ago), I couldn't help but marry it with Panda Express. I didn't want just another "fast food" type of meal in a dine-in setting. However, Panda Inn definitely is the boujie cousin of Panda Express. I love coming here for some good Chinese food, and it has never disappointed thus far. Came here about a week ago with my gf, and we were kinda hungry so we ordered about 4 dishes. Each plate has two sizes to choose from, I believe it's small or "family" size. Not sure the exact names, but the small was still pretty damn big, and we definitely could have easily shared with a party of four. We ordered their famous orange chicken, kung pao chicken, walnut shrimp (the best item IMO), and shrimp lo mein noodles. It took a while to get our food once we placed our order, but we did go on a Saturday. However, it was well worth the wait because everything was so hot and fresh! Service was also good. I like the new look. I preferred the old look better. I mean it's pretty, very modern, however I will say that as soon as you walk thru front door the waiting area is small, most people wait outside because it's more ample but very cold. Now the hostess, mainly the male hostess needs to be more friendly and welcoming, they were very uptight & unwelcoming. The wait could be well over an hour, we decided to wait because their menu is scrumptious, but, we came to find out they no longer carry the "lunch specials". We went today, our server was sort of cold and distant. The food arrived like a book, in chapters. one of our plates came almost an hour after we had started eating after I had to stop waiter to ask about my plate. And top it off our waiter dissappear for over 25 mnts, until we stop someone walking by that told us, he had gone to his break. We will probably not be coming back anytime soon. read more

My wife came home last night with great news! She got a promotion at her job with the Monrovia Unified School District. I asked her where she wanted to go celebrate. She said the Panda Inn in Pasadena. What a great choice! Our first time going there since the remodeling. The food was excellent. The ambiance was excellent. Our server, Kevin V., who also was manning the sushi bar was off the charts polite, respectful, and courteous, which only added extra flavor and importance to our celebration night! The remodeled restaurant provides ample space both indoors and outdoors. If you can, arrive before 12:15p on weekends for lunch. It gets crowded after that time. Food was delicious and delightfully presented. Wait staff is very professional and helpful. This will be a strong draw for the lunch and dinner crowd coming to the east side of Pasadena. Reservations are a good idea but not a must. read more

We were excited to go to the new Panda Inn, we had a party of eight. Making the reservations was a challenge. we had to make several attempts to finally get through to someone. The previous attempts were met with a phone that just rang and rang with no answer. The service was adequate , the waitress was a little hurried as they were busy. Her hurriedness was obvious to us and a little uncomfortable. The last thing you need is to feel rushed when going out with friend. The waitress could have been more attentive. When we needed something we had to get her attention to request the items e.g. more water, more sauce. However she was timely when offering dessert. The food was as good as we remembered. We will give it another try, just not on a weekend day, and hopefully have a better experienc. read more

Been here twice to the completely refurbished original Panda Inn, founded decades ago long before Panda Express. Totally recommend! This may not be the most authentic Chinese food in SGV, but it's among the best. Gorgeous space. Perfectly prepared food. Amazing value. I just made a whole meal of the two huge pancakes in the moo shu pork wrap. An absolute steal as a $13 appetizer! They could charge twice as much. The spicy shrimp and lobster wontons in chili oil are awesome. Huge main courses at around $20-S25. Hard to get a reservation, but just go sit at the lovely bar. read more
