It's OK, but to be honest with you I miss the old panda inn. We always would order on the website and take it to go, I've actually never eaten there. When they reopened this new location, for a while anyways the website wasn't even up for you to place an order so you had to call it in, but when you called, you either could not get through or you got put on hold for a long time, a testament to their success, I understand, but still as a customer who just wanted to pick up food pretty frustrating. The website now accepts orders however, the website menu does not match the actual menu, and there's no place for you to add any comments or modify any ingredients, another frustrating thing, we like their braised string beans for example however, you cannot order them on the web they just are not a choice you can make. There are actually quite a few items from the menu missing on the website. I thought, OK Skip ordering on the web and just call in an order, however, now when you try to call in an order, nobody answers the phone. I called about five times before I gave up and just went ahead and placed an online order, however, because they didn't have some of the things I wanted to order, I estimate that the restaurant lost about 50 or $60 of my business because I just simply could not order what I wanted. I realize the place is wildly successful and they have a lot on their hands but the website part of it seems like it's pretty simple to solve, so I'm not sure why they have not. I am hoping over the coming weeks they resolve some of these kinds of small technical issues I definitely do like the small turnaround in front of the place now, much easier for someone to stop there and run in and pick up an order, although so far every time I have gone, even if I give them 30 to 40 minutes to prepare the order, I still seem to end up waiting 5 to 10 minutes... the hot and sour soup is so good though, so I can live with waiting but on that note, whatever happened to the white fish in black bean sauce that they used to make? Now they only have steamed Chilean Seabass as a fish option, and it is a whopping $38, and it's not even a big piece of fish, I still order it because it's so great but I just cannot wrap my head around why it cost $38, that is way too expensive. For me, panda Inn is the best place to get Chinese food in Pasadena, I am sure that's a polarizing statement, but for me, it is, but all of these little small strikes against them start to add up, and I am definitely keeping score, so who knows maybe I will find another place, I'm definitely open to the option based on the above comments anyway, but I am hopeful that they iron things out read more

She she always has a smile and will make you feel special. She always had a great recommendation. You might have to wait at times but we'll worth the wait. read more

We tried the new panda inn in Pasadena. I have to say I really miss the old restaurant and its ambiance; the waiters that had been there for years and the mellow elegant atmosphere. While the new restaurant has good food I found the ambiance to be pretentious and cold even though the manager and waiters were very solicitous. The parking was very inconvenient, you have to park in the new garage and take an elevator up to street level before going into the restaurant. I've been here 4-5 times. The food is consistently good. I love the honey walnut shrimp roll, spicy beef salad, panda beef, Mongolian beef, steamed Chilean sea bass, orange chicken, bok choy & mushroom, string beans, wagyu filet mignonette chow fun, and the steamed fish from the sushi lunch menu. Also, the Shirley temple from the bar is my favorite. They make their own grenadine. Alexis and Aaron were our servers the first night we visited, and they gave us such a warm welcome. Nice atmosphere, but: Sweet & Sour Pork was heated up hard chunks(probably was microwaved frozen chunks). Upside down noodles dish was terrible; previously was excellent- now a different sauce and only a few vegs, and cheap noodles. My family and I have been here 2 times since the impressive remodel. First time was a very pleasant experience since food and service were wonderful as it usually is. Second time, food was good as usual but waiter (who resembles Horatio Sanz) was subpar. He really didn't say much or ask if we needed anything after the food was delivered and other employees did most of the work. One employee served our soup, another one dropped off the food while we asked a different person for some chop sticks since our waiter was MIA. Was in the area and had not been back since the remodeling; looked very nice and clean on the inside. I was sat down; just a party of two. The host was very nice very gracious but unfortunately, we waited close to 15 minutes after being sat and had to get up and leave. I even noticed the host look over at us and appear puzzled that we were still waiting. I understand it's a busy lunch hour, however I assume the waiter that was designated for us, greeted the table and took the order of the people sat behind us and also gave the check to the people next to us and never once greeted us. Never once acknowledged us that or told us that he would be right back or with us momentarily. I totally would've understood it's lunchtime and it's busy but to not even acknowledge us and have us sitting there for close to 15 minutes we had just had to walk out. I worked in the restaurant industry for close to 10 years from host to expo to waitress to management and even at that never had a table in my busiest of times to not address in that amount of time. If I'm busy you ask other fellow staff who may not be as busy to help out and cover or even management walk around and check on tables but I guess that is not in practice here at this Panda Inn. When we walked out we told the host thank you but that we were leaving and she even mentioned to us that she had already told our waiter to come to us, but we told her at that point it was okay. Looking at other reviews, it appears that the brand owner only responds to four star and above reviews that explains a lot . I've been coming to panda inn for years. We came to the newly renovated location with a party of 12. Reservations were made and no issues with seating. The server did not explain that the family portions are gone and it's now only single portions, but at the same price as family portion if not a bit more. I could not believe how small the portions are. The server brought us out 1 bowl of rice for 12 people, this obviously was not enough, and we had to wait 10 minutes for our server to come back, so we could ask for more rice. When we voiced our concerns to the manager on duty, his answer was "We do not have family portions anymore, we are trying something new at this location". So apparently shrinking the portions and raising the prices is what they are doing at this location. My girlfriend and I recently tried Panda Inn for the first time, and it was a wonderful experience. The food and drinks were delicious and refreshing. My favorite thing I had during my visit was the Chilean Sea Bass. The building is beautiful and great for a night out. The service was exceptional as well. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the history and menu, offering us great recommendations. Aaron and Victoria did a wonderful job making sure that we had the best dining experience possible by checking in on us and being attentive to our needs. So disappointed in the "New and Improved" Panda Inn. Its all fancy now but the food is worse than ever. The black pepper "tenderloin" was definitely not tenderloin. It was probably sirloin and it tasted old. The orange chicken was all batter, no chicken. The won ton soup was a huge disappointment. The best things we ordered were the steamed rice and vegetable egg rolls...... and those were average. Save your money and go to panda express or spend the same and go to Din Tai Fung. read more

Ambience they did a good job on the remodeling. Nobody enjoys the couch part where you have to sit just inches next to the next party it's not comfortable. Nobody wanted to do it. Everybody that came in and asked to sit somewhere else and I suggest the same thing either they need to remove a table and space people further apart. Food was horrible sad to say orange chicken had to be returned three times till finally the manager came over and remade it for us. That's a sad state. He agreed they were like rocks you were eating rocks and flour almost no chicken. It seems and he agreed that most people are just lost. They still need to get everybody coordinated on what their job was. We went in mid week about 3 o'clock very dead and yet still people in there you have five bartender standing around nobody offering water no waitress stopping at your table, but walking by 45 times till finally the manager saw the situation and agreed they have a lot of things to go on if you're looking for the old Panda Inn... It's not there it's gone , we were hoping Andrew would keep it like it was and just build up the ambience but unfortunately no not even the menu will be back. I wish I can give it 3.5 stars. This was my first time here, and I was overall not impressed. The food was exactly what we expected, in the sense that it's the same food you could get at Panda Express... but pricier. I actually like the food at Panda Express. The Kung Pao Chicken has always been my favorite at Panda Express. The Kung Pao chicken here had the same flavor, and the same spice level. The orange chicken was the same... the beef and broccoli was the same... the fried rice was the same. We thought they would at least take those dishes and somehow elevate them. I wanted an elevated orange chicken! I guess we were also expecting more because the restaurant was fancy looking, and they served the food on actual plates, and provided metal utensils instead of plastic ones. My recommendation is that if you do end up eating at Panda Inn, then order items you don't normally see at, or that is served at Panda Express. For instance, the Asian Spiced Beef Short Ribs. The short ribs were good! It was the most Chinese dish of the night! I did like that they had a bar. I recommend the Mai Tai. The other drinks like White Gummy Panda and Pandarita was just juice, meaning super sweet and not strong at all. Also, at the end of the meal, they give you fun fortune cookies. Even though I was not impress, I did enjoy the food because I like Panda Express. I say go to Panda Express because it's more affordable, but come here if you or someone you know wants Panda Express for their birthday. read more

Was there today. Nice remodel. Although it would be nice if the two seat table arrangements were not so close to each other. I had a seat next to a Very talkative couple. The lady's perfume was quite strong. Food was very good and tasty. My concern was the waiter. An older gentleman. He took my order. Checked on me once as appropriate. Then he disappeared. I needed to leave and could not. Kept searching for him. A young man, who I assume was a manager, came by and I let him know that I needed a box and my bill. He told me he would get right on it. Waited another ten minutes. Nothing. Finally, one of the chefs behind the counter saw my dismay and asked what was going on. I told him. He immediately had one of his colleagues, another chef, assist me. Again, this took place today, January 30th, around 1:30. So if someone in charge is reading this you will have a strong reference point from which to investigate and make the necessary corrections. read more

Honestly....very underwhelmed...we wanted to love this place...but just can't... food is just average....tea was 8 dollars and very light...mushu chicken..all very average...despite the hype...really not good...the kung pao chicken was only a few steps above panda express, as was all of the dishes...and that is honestly really not saying much...another reviewer noted the same thing... If you want really great chinese, try Sea Harbour on Rosemead...maybe the chef from here can go try the food and compare...maybe the Panda patrons want americanized chinese... Staff seems kind of laissez faire...a far cry from old restaurant's service...when I asked for lemons from a passerby kind of a floating employee, he said why didn't the waiter bring him....and I said that I didn't ask the waiter...so anytime I needed anything I felt I couldn't ask anyone else....
