I was staying at a motel in Slidell and passed by the Panda Express several times. I had never tried it before now, so I wanted to give it a shot. No. I decided to get a panda bowl. I ordered the Mandarin Chicken which was a huge mistake. It was extremely grisly and had tons of fat, more fat than actual meat. I ended up throwing away half of the chicken. I got the chow mein as my side, and it was mediocre. It was very oily, and didn't have a great flavor. I know I should have known better because it's fast food, but for 5 bucks and some change, I expected a little bit more. :/ read more

I have to say that my experience at Panda has been quite different than the others commenting here, although they are from quite a while back. About 2 years or so ago they completely changed staff and management of the location. I regular (2 to 3 times a week) stop in on the way home. You really cannot go wrong with any of the choices, but I really like the Orange Chicken with Bacon; however, it only available at certain times of the year. I like the Black Pepper Chicken as well, and it is my other go-to choice. The food is always fresh and if there is none of what you want out; they can prepare it in only a few minutes, and the quantity of what you get for the price is very good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to your needs. Keep in mind that like almost all Chinese places in the U.S., this is American style Chinese food, not like what you will find in Chengdu, Dazhai, or even Beijing. If you have not stopped in lately I recommend that you give it a try. read more

Horrible customer service. Will never go back again. The workers need better training and learn how to take responsibility. Forced me to dig through the trash for the receipt in order to get a refund on part of my entree that was not ready until my Daughter and I finished eating and ready to go see a movie. I even asked in the middle of meal for it and still never got it. I was never able to find the receipt. I called their 800 customer number in order to get a refund afterwards. Went through drive thru and ordered the broccoli beef. I got a very small container and I mean very small container for 3.89 (the fortune cookie was the same size as the container). I asked if that was everything and got a yes. Guess there was confusion as I thought something came with it, like rice or anything. Was in a hurry so left. Food taste like they went to the frozen food section and warmed a bunch of things up. Every time i passed by i wondered how there food was, well i made the mistake of trying them out. The person taking my order was very nice and helpful, the menu seemed easy to figure out. When i got my total and seen the amount of food i got i was a little annoyed. When i started to eat the food it wasn't bad but neither was it good. Orange chicken had a glaze over large popcorn chicken, shrimp & walnuts were ok but the batter was sliding off making a mess. There fried rice was a joke, i got some beef & Broccoli and came in a kiddy travel box with barely any beef. the chicken egg roll wasn't that bad i also tried there crab ragoon that was ok. All the food tasted like from a buffet or warmed up in the microwave. I gave 2 star because they were not horrible and most of the food was ok but nothing worth going back for. The idea is good fast Chinese food on the go, but they really should take the gourmet out of there signs its misleading. read more

Panda Express opens at 10:30. I got there right at 10:30 and had to wait on the food to cook because as I was told, "We just opened." Now I believe food should be cooked prior to actual opening time so that customers do not have to wait for food. Every customer that came in after me had to wait on food to be prepared and this was 30 to 40 minutes after I got there. The workers were showing up late and you had people, that I assumed worked there but weren't in uniform, behind the counter working. The food is terrible. I got two chicken items & both were rubbery & gummy. If you put a blindfold on & tasted a few items I bet you couldn't tell if they were beef, pork, or poultry. I've gotta go against the grain here. The portion to price ratio could use some tuning, but the taste is just fine. It is exceptional? Not really. Is it better than most of the Chinese food in town. Meh, it's a little above par. If something does not look fresh to you they will make a fresh batch. No questions asked. The veggies are fresh and the food is tasty. The people have always been nice and the noise levels have been easy to talk through without raising your voice. As far as employees eating food from next door - would you want to eat food from the same place 5-6 days a week? Many places around town are deserving of scathing reviews. Don't waste your money!!! The food was horrible. I should of known better but the kids wanted to try it. The fried rice had little to no taste and the food tasted as if it was recently defrosted and microwaved. For the money I spent I could have payed a little more for decent Chinese. read more

I stopped in this afternoon ( I had been fasting for a test that wound up not being done...but anyhoo...) Background...I am a Type 1 Diabetic....When I pulled up I wasn't feeling right so I test my sugar and sure enough I was low. I walked in and went right to the registers. Everyone behind there was busy, but a gentleman by the name Javen , who, to me, appeared to be on a scheduled break, ( I was there during an off time) came up to me and asked if he could help me. I explained what was going on and without hesitation handed me a cup so I could get a soda to get my sugar back up. I went and sat down at a table for a few minutes to make sure I got enough sugar in myself. Javen happened to be sitting across from me and he was kind enough to check on me a couple of time to make sure I was ok. I couldn't thank this young man enough. I tried to send a message through the corporate website but their 400 character max wasn't enough for me to express my gratitude. Thank you again Javen. You truly are a life saver, as you saved mine today. :) read more

Everytime we come here the food is fresh and the staff is always smiling and very helpful. Normally we dine in, but this time we went through drive thru since we had to be somewhere and when we ordered our food our greeter was prepared and gave us suggestions of different items that sounded so delicious. What made the experience all the better was when she asked if we wanted to round the total of our bill to donate to Children's Hospital! How can you say no to that?! I eat at Panda in AZ every time we go and the food is fresh, delicious and the servings are substantial. When Slidell got one, the family was thrilled. It started out just like the one in AZ, but the portions were smaller. Since that day, the portions have gotten even smaller unless there are one of two people serving. When these two ladies work, the food is cooked fresh and the portions are decent. We love our food in LA and expect fresh food at a decent price with decent portions. You won't last long in Slidell unless you change and soon. Twice, I would have given 4 stars, but the unconcerned people working behind the lines and the portions and the food left far too long the other two times, made me reduce it to one.
