I recently visited the Panda Express on 1604 and had a bit of a mixed experience. The space itself is actually pretty nice--it's a large, contemporary Panda Express with the usual Chinese-style decorations. They have four big tables in the middle and some smaller booths around the edges, so it's spacious enough to host a little gathering if you wanted to. Now, about the food: that's where things got a bit tricky. The Beijing Beef on the serving line was extremely dry, almost like it had been sitting out for too long and turned into just fried beef strips with barely any moisture. When I asked for a fresh batch, the staff were great about making it for me, but the new batch ended up completely drenched in sauce--so much so that it was overwhelming and left a kind of knot in my throat. And to top it off, the food wasn't hot at all. I drove maybe two minutes down the road before eating, and it was already cold. So in summary, while the space is nice and the staff is friendly, this location might need to work on keeping the food both fresh and at the right temperature. read more

Friday night - Placed an online order to save time. We got there one minute before our food was to be ready and waited 22 more minutes for them to be done. Way too long of a wait. Lots of customers waiting around. Customer service was lacking. Seemed like plenty of workers available but they were disorganized, lost and spacey. I added one star because the young man apologized for the wait and said have a nice evening. I was already too grumpy by then. Food was meh... teriyaki chicken was rubbery and fatty. Very clean location. The employees are very courteous and accommodating. Kris was very helpful. I had the Mushroom Chicken bowl with fried rice to eat in and ordered the Teriyaki Chicken with Chow Mein to go. The bowl has a fair portion of the entree and a generous portion of the side (fried rice, steamed rice or Chow Mein). If you're like me you'll run out of the entree way early! LOL. Went there for a Yelp event and when I walked in, it was very clean inside and the staff was friendly and quick to greet everyone. The food looked super fresh and service was great. I ordered Walnut Shrimp with noodles and it was very good and flavorful. Portion was just right. The mango tea was good and I was able to sweeten it myself which was perfect for me. I was trying to decide on a to go order and they never rushed me or became impatient. I also got grilled chicken to take home as well as Egg rolls and crab Rangoon which was perfect. Service was quick and the place was kept very clean with prompt attention from staff. I will definitely go to this location again because it's clean, good taste of food and great staff. When you first walk in, you noticed the place very cleaned, no dirty tables, and workers wear mask and gloves. They have one door designated as the entry and the other as the exit. Very organized and proficient place. I enjoyed the Panda plate because I wanted to have two meat with my meal. I had to wait about 3 minutes for the fried rice because they ran out. It was worthwhile. Fried rice came out hot and fresh. They have a variety of sides. I ended up having an egg roll. Sat at an empty table and it was very clean. This particular location is new and very clean inside. I got one bowl of super greens & string bean chicken breast and another bowl of white rice & grilled teriyaki chicken. They ran out of the super greens at the time I ordered, but it came out within a couple minutes afterwards. The food itself tasted fresh and was served hot. The staff members were super friendly, warm, and inviting. The best part of getting food at Panda Express is the fortune cookies that come with the meal. When I got in there were a few people in front of me, so as were waiting a lady comes up and take the older ladies order in front of me. I went here after a soccer game and splurged on one of the special panda crafted drinks costing around $3. I finished my drink within a couple of minutes and went to go and ask for a refill which was granted but then the manager came by and said that I was unable to get a refill which was not stated beforehand. I then had to go and get water from the fountain machine instead of the drink that I had paid for. Very unsettling experience because once the restaurant closed they just poured the drinks out. So I want to preface this review with I've been going to Panda Express since I was a teenager and I'm a huge fan of Panda's orange chicken. So I was really pumped for this location to open because the one on 281 by HEB is always a hassle to go to because it's a bustling area. It is a very nice establishment but I didn't get to go in because I went through the drive thru. Got through the drive thru nice and fast and got my food within five minutes and I headed on my way home with the my orange chicken and chow mein!! When I sat down to enjoy my meal I immediately noticed just how dry the noodles looked. These noodles needed some TLC and hydration because this Texas heat hasn't been forgiving. Upon first bite the noodles were tough and dry. The orange chicken wasn't hitting the same notes that I'm used to - it wasn't as crunchy nor as flavorful as I've come accustomed to having. It just was very bland and I know it could be that the food was just sitting out but it was subpar to say the least. Although I've only given this establishment two stars I am more than willing to go back because I understand that there are growing pains! read more

This new location is of course very clean if you go in. I prefer the drive-thru and the drive-thru at this location is extremely slow. They can only handle one order at a time. So the car that orders at the speaker goes to window to pick up order and the next car is told to wait and they won't take that cars order until the previous car is handed their order at the window and is driving off.
