2cd visit here... nice casual spot, good for kids & families. menu mainly encompasses burgers & hot dogs but they have recently added wings and do have some sandwich options. corn & cucumber cups are avail as sides along with more traditional fries and tots. o-rings, sweet potato fries & chili cheese fries/tots avail for upgrade fee. there are also some local flare offerings like aquas frescas, fruit cups, funnel cake & churros. we've eaten here twice and both visits were ok. nothing wrong, but nothing outstanding. we've stuck to burgers so maybe we are missing out on whats great. service has been fast, friendly & helpful - no complaints there. you order at the counter or i did notice an order station at entry. i DO like they offer a smaller portion option on everyday menu that is not a kids meal. $9 cheeseburger, side and drink hubbie had bistro burger $14, texas toast, swiss cheese and mushrooms - price did include side but not drink. hubbie said it was pretty tasty. i was charged $2 upcharge for o-rings and unless you want frozen rings with hard batter & tough onions - skip them. tots werent great either but at least no upcharge. i would eat here again if in the area, but wouldnt be my choice otherwise. read more

FYSA, the parking lot is abundant with deep potholes, tread lightly or you will regret it. The restaurant is newish and has a good amount of customers. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. They have a lot of great things to choose from such as burgers, hotdogs, sandwiches, snacks and desserts. Since it was my first time I opted for the cheeseburger and fries. My friend got the macho burger with onion rings. We also got aqua frescas which was a nice treat on a hot day. They let you combine flavors too. You can customize your burger to your liking and they provide table service. The portions are large so come hungry. We were very full at the end of our burgers. The meat was seasoned well and the toppings fresh. It beats fast food burgers any day. I am glad we tried this place and we will be back to try more stuff. So... I think we've found the most flavorful, seasoned burger in San Antonio! And it's here at the Shack! My husband ordered a hamburger with sweet potato fries and i got the cheeseburger with fries. He ordered it on Uber Eats and I went to pick it up. When I opened the car door, the first smell that hit me was seasoning! Yes!!!!! That's like driving up to a BBQ joint and smelling the flavor that was put on the meat, smoky, sweet flavor! My nose received the aroma love and I knew that it was gonna be a great wave of yum! I went inside and it was dimly lit and intimate. A great spot! And the server was nice and the food was ready. When i got home and took the first bite of the burger, my taste buds lit up! My nose knew the seasoning aroma and my mouth lined up with it. At the same time, my husband's eyes met mine with the mm mm mm look! From the top to the bottom, the burger is a yes all day. Love the buns. Burger was great. A little pricey. Two burgers and fries are like $35 before tip. My biggest gripe is the water cups. It's like drinking from a thimble. I had to get up 4 times during my meal to refill the water cup. It's a little ridiculous but everything else was great. read more

We tried The Shack on a last minute decision while visiting the area last week. I saw the excellent reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. The ambiance was quiet when we arrived on a late Saturday night. I had the crunch burger, which was amazing. The patty was perfectly cooked, and the chili was an excellent addition to the burger. We also tried the Mexican burger on a black bean patty, which was a home run decision. That burgers packed a lot of flavor and heat. Highly recommend coming here if near the area. read more

This place has really yummy hamburgers went to try them out just because I saw that they had opened. It was really pleasantly surprised with the quality of everything that we had. They also have a small little bar, which has a nice little drink menu. If you have a chance, you should stop by and give them a shot. read more

I ordered the mushroom burger and chili cheese tater tots. All the burgers come with one side choice. To add chili and cheese to the tater tots is a $2.99 up charge. Honestly, the best part about the burger was probably the bun. I don't know what they do to that bread, but it is amazing. The cheese on the tater tots is a standard nacho cheese with no real flavor to it. The chili is a bean chili. Overall, the side was good. I would say the only thing I would change is the burger should have come with a few more grilled onions and mushrooms. I was expecting it to be piled a little higher. But there was still plenty of toppings. The burgers are all cooked to one temperature. Medium well/well done. The restaurant has a kiosk right at the door if you want to order that way or you can order at the counter and then pick a table. There is quite a bit of seating. Booths, a bar and tables with chairs. This is probably the best burger I've had in a while. I definitely will be back to try something else! read more

Deeelicious!! We've been waiting for this place to open and today we finally got to try it. It is a walk up and order restaurant with plenty of seating inside. We had the owner as our cashier so he was more than helpful with any questions on the menu. Lunch for me was the Bistro Burger and chili cheese tots. The burger was seasoned perfect, the sour bread was crusty and yummy and the toppings were gooey and not too messy. The tots were good, the chili has beans and the cheese was pretty good. I would have liked some shredded cheese or onions on top of it for some extra texture and flavor. My partner in crime had the Southwest Burger on a grilled tortilla and corn in a cup. She said the toppings were awesome, along with the patty, an all together very good and different burger. The corn in a cup was pipping hot and tasty! Let me start by saying that I try to support small businesses when possible. However, I also owe it to the rest of the community to be fair in a review. . It's expensive to take a family out these days. I brought my family here based on the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was less than stellar. Service was fine, but the food really missed the mark. For the most part portions were generous with one exception. I completely agree with the previous review regarding the onion rings. The size is pretty small when compared with similar businesses. The meat patty was very dense and lacked a little flavor. The buns are above average. However, ours were hard and one member of our party thought they were too sweet. The shake had a very distinct vanilla bean flavor, which would have been good if it hadn't been a chocolate shake. Sides were standard fair - fries, tots and rings but were mediocre examples. My crunch burger was just weird. Homemade chili (had beans and very little flavor), Fritos, cheese (ended up being cheese sauce - think Ricos but tasteless), and mayo. It was just a squishy weird mess. I honestly only ate 1/3 of it before giving up. There are so many great burger places in San Antonio. Based on my experience this doesn't rank with them........and I really don't understand the 4.9 stars. I wish all locals businesses the best and it looks like this one has a great following.
