I usually order the Kung Pao Chicken (which is delicious) but decided to try the Jalapeno Chicken tonight. I got the deluxe combo that comes with egg roll, rice, soup, and a drink. I upgraded the veggie fried rice. The rice was great, tons of veggies and the perfect amount of egg. The Jalapeno Chicken was good but not very spicy. The Hot and Sour soup was ok but not great. It was pretty sweet which I'm not a fan of. I'll try egg drop next time. The egg roll was good but nothing special. My husband got the General Tso's which he loves. This was my second time ordering to go here. The day before was awesome. A man named Carlos helped me with my order. Because I'm vegan he made sure that I was taken care of. He informed me that I'd need to get the white sauce because the other sauces were made with chicken broth. He told me that I couldn't get my dish spicy because the chili oil was made with animal fat. Carlos had the kitchen make me a great meal and gave me 4 little 1/4 ounce containers of sriracha because I couldn't get my dish spicy. (A single shot of whiskey is one ounce.) He even looked at the bottle of sriracha's ingredients for me to make sure it was okay. My meal was fantastic. Then I came back today. Carlos wasn't there. There was a bald man working the cash register who insisted that Carlos who took my order yesterday, "doesn't know what the f*ck he's talking about." So he went to the kitchen and found out that Carlos actually does know what he's talking about. That was rude and uncalled for to use language like that and speak about his coworker that way. Before I left I asked for some sriracha and was told that he would have to charge me $.45 plus tax for each tiny container of it. When I pointed out that I couldn't get hot oil in my dish and Carlos gave me some sriracha yesterday the bald man told me again, "That's because I told you, Carlos doesn't know what the f*ck he's talking about. I know, I was here. This is the way my owners want me to be. They want me to charge you for every little thing." That's what the bald guy said to me at the front counter. So, the owners weren't there. I asked for them. The bald man did give me two little packages of soy sauce, because he'd neglected to put any in my bag. That bald man working the front counter is the kind of guy that'll make sure his bad day is your bad day. I'm sure everyone likes Carlos. Last night's meal was great. Today's meal I can barely stand to eat. I'm the kind of guy who finds a good restaurant and goes back there every other day. It's amazing what one horrible employee can do to your experience. I was really looking forward to eating there today. Another female employee walked by and gave me a look. I could tell it didn't make sense to her why I was being treated that way. Carlos deserves a raise. He knows how to create regular customers. Omg!! Worst place ever!! Let's start off with the hot and sour soup- it came out lukewarm and it was way too sweet! The marinated pork- was not pork! It was tough beef with no flavor. To top it off it looked like they sliced up 4 tomatoes and dumped it. Wonton soup was just gross. Their spicy garlic beef was not spicy and it seemed like they dumped a ton of garlic powder on it. I literally felt sick to my stomach. This place is dirty and dingy. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PLACE!! I've been going to Beijing for years. It use to be a nice drive through pick up. I went last Friday ordered pepper steak and spring rolls. Sat in drive thru for 22 minutes! Got home and opened the bag... the spring rolls were so over cooked I couldn't even cut the with a knife. Dark brown and hard so I threw them out in disgust. They used red bell peppers which changes the flavor a lot! Should be traditional green bell peppers like always!!!! What I got was an MSG overloaded dish. The first thing I taste is the chemicals used to preserve the meat. And don't get me started on the texture. My wife and I couldn't get past one bite of each dish as both also left horrible aftertastes in our mouths. The only redeeming thing about the meal was the two fortune cookies and egg rolls. I hadn't gone in years because there are other restaurants closer to my house. The last time was with a group of gym friends for a post-workout lunch as it was close to the gym. The process for ordering is done at the counter where you view the menu, pay in advance & find a seat. They bring out your food in styrofoam containers and cups. If you order water, they sell you a bottled water. I suppose they chose not to use real plates, cups and silverware? Anyway, I chose the Moo Goo Gai Pan Lunch Special as it had veggies & chicken. I opted for a side of Hot & Sour Soup & Egg Roll which I gave to my friend. My friend ordered a Triple Deluxe with Egg Drop Soup & Egg Roll & Sweetened Iced Tea. We sat down & our food came out pretty quickly! I proceeded to taste the Hot & Sour Soup which I expected to be a little spicy & tangy. Instead, it tasted like sweetened soup with a hint of tanginess vs. the tanginess of the vinegar?! I tried putting some soy sauce to counter the sweetness but that didn't help. Guess that was my first alert of things to come thinking, oh boy...here's the Americanized Chinese food... I set the soup aside & tried the Moo Goo Gai Pan. The fried rice was warm and not hot & the grains weren't thoroughly cooked through. Then I tried the main dish & my 2nd bite of the chicken tasted rancid! Yuck!! I quickly & discreetly spit it out onto a napkin. The chicken pieces were tenderized slices that seemed to be coated in flour, not uncoated & freshly sliced. I think they prepared all the chicken the same way for all their stir-fried dishes in an attempt to be efficient. To be honest, I could've had frozen, packaged food that would've been better. I stopped eating the chicken part & just ate the veggies. Those seemed to be fresh. I asked my friend how her dish was & she seemed happy with hers. Used restroom to find out there was no toilet paper in the stall. i texted my girlfriend who told my waitress (who did her job wonderfully) the situation. five minutes later the manager comes in laughing about it making a joke about why the restrooms weren't restocked because of a shirt i was wearing. The food came out shortly after and omg the flavor! So deep and so delicious! Lots of chicken, not mostly vegetables like some places. Just a deep rich robust flavor in the Kung Pao and the rice. The Rangoon were solid, the egg rolls were awesome too. I gave this place only 4 stars because of a few things. First, I asked for my food to be spicy spicy SPICY! It was not. It had a kick, but I like it to burn!!!! The egg roll I added on was almost $2. For 1 egg roll, it was good, but I don't see why it would be so pricey unless the thing was hand rolled. Also, I guess they double as a gift shop, so they had stuff everywhere. In the entrance, a display case taking up half of the entry way, so anything more than 2-3 people up there makes it crowded. I did not like that at all. Like at all at all. In fact, despite the fact of the food being so good, I would have given three stars except the server was so patient and gracious that he made the whole place feel inviting and earned them another star. The service is excellent! The food last couple of times I ate here was really good. Unfortunately, this time, not so much. The shrimp was VERY fishy. Normally, shrimp doesn't 'taste' super fishy. So, I think this Chef's Special had too much fish sauce in the recipe. The crispiness of the shrimp was wonderful. It wasn't very spicy, even though I was told it would be. Maybe I like spicer than the average...no! We are in Texas, we do spicey well. The rice was ok. I'm not much of a rice eater, because I'm super picky about how rice is cooked. I went out to eat here for the first time with my dad for lunch today and did not finish my meal so I took it home to eat for later. I warmed it up and after a few bites into my fried rice, I bit into something hard which I assumed was a piece of hard rice. Instead I spit out not one but TWO of what I'm assuming are pebbles. There is no way these could have gotten into my food after I left the restaurant as it was bagged and in a to-go box and placed in my fridge immediately after arriving at home. We had ordered the right delivery app so maybe the expense would've been different if I would've eaten there. The other portions are good and all of their food comes with rice or fried rice which is extra. But everything just didn't taste right Not authentic .I also didn't like their teriyaki chicken (usually my favorite)it was not your typical teriyaki chicken the color and flavor was definitely something I had never had before.
