Portions are large for lemon chicken. You can easily share. I got delivery off of the yelp app and they were on time.

Service was okay-ish. I got the chicken with veggies, chicken was good but the veggies tasted rotten! Atmosphere was not the typical restaurant. Boxes were out in the open! It was hot the AC was BROKEN. They had fans, it didn't do anything. I wouldn't come back, I wanna go somewhere that's not cluttered and more clean with working AC :) I don't recommend! read more

They have Apple Pay ! Yay Other than that the place is pretty run down and looks like it's been there forever without attempts to up keep Food was fast and looked better than it tasted I ordered shrimp with black bean sauce and beef rice noodles but instead they gave me 2 shrimp orders one was rice noodles Not much taste "Fried rice " was lacking any ingredients other than rice, see pics Good size portions If desperate this place is good enough since there are not that many competitors nearby Your typical menu however the Healthy section with steamed foods and no msg, no sugar, no oil was surprising, maybe worth a try if you're into that read more

Great food for the price, the place doesn't look great going in but don't let that stop you the food is great and amazing value

We've been coming to Shangri-La for years now, and it's become one of our go-to spots for Chinese food. Over time, we've seen two different owners -- the first one was okay, but the current owner has really stepped it up. The food now is so much better -- fresh, flavorful, and just really well done. You can tell it's the real deal. I know people have different tastes, so reviews can be all over the place, but personally, we've never had a bad experience here. Everything we've ordered has always been fresh, and we've never had any issues. I usually do pick-up, but they do offer delivery too, which is nice to have as an option. The menu is colorful and easy to read, and I noticed dine-in is now open again -- great if you feel like sitting down and eating there instead of taking it home. Also, there are some Chinese signs with writing around the door -- I was curious and translated them once, and they were really sweet. Just adds a nice touch to the place. Definitely worth checking out if you're craving some solid Chinese food. Give it a try -- I think you'll like it read more

Food is always fresh and hot. Is it basic Chinese food? Yes, but it's good basic Chinese food if that makes sense. They have big portions for a decent price as well. read more

The food was amazing and the portion sizes were tremendous. The service was amazing. I cant stop using the words amazing. The building outside was mediocre but don't let that keep you from coming in, if you do, your loss. We were there at an off time and it was quiet and they had Ghostbusters 2 on the tv. Lol. We will come back, come back and back again. read more

Angry staff, poor food, I'm not sure how they stay in business, very bad, I mean I'm a laid back guy, wouldn't take my worst enemy here.

The house was on quarantine because of covid, but we could all still taste. After the first week I decided to check what delivery options were available and this place popped up. It's no exaggeration to say eating this delivery was the happiest I'd been since our quarantine. The food was delivered hot and scrumptious. They even wrote a cute message on the boxes about having a happy holiday and to feel better. They left a message on my phone when they dropped it off so I could get it quickly. My only suggestion is for the online ordering process, no big deal, but it would be nice to have order specifying options, like no water chestnuts or to add bean sprouts. I wasn't sure what all I was getting when I ordered it but I was still very pleased and grateful for the delivery option. read more

Shangri la - a meal in a styrofoam container - Chinese Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Tried this place on the recommendation of a coworker. All I can say is, "Thank you, Jake!" This little hole in the wall is tucked back from the street and easily overlooked as across the street the snack shack has all the bright colors & flashing lights of a disco. Do not let the unassuming front fool you. Yes its dated & kitsch, but that's also the charm of the place. They currently don't do dine in, but there's a decent lobby with a tiny free library (nice touch) and a comfy bench to wait for your food. You won't wait long. I appreciate all the steps they are taking to keep rheir staff & customers safe. The food is well flavored but not cloying sticky sweet like a mall stall or fast food Chinese. It's fresh, filled with lots of meat & vegetables. They don't skimp & overdo the noodles or rice. Really big portions. It's at least 2-3 meals worth. We got the dumplings to start which mighr have been my favorite part. They were full of tasty filling, easy to eat without the dopping sauce. But oh that sauce. That. Sauce. It even makes the steamed broccoli they serve with it sing. I got the house lo mein & my husband ordered chow mein. They are different sauces, but the dishes were both light, packed full in the container, and full of the various proteins & veg. My husband's favorite was the beef, which was excellent, but I was partial to the shrimp in both dishes. Would definitely order again. Give it a shot! We will be back! read more

If I could give no stars I would. We order beef chow mein got this hard ass noodles that are supposedly fried but are completely inedible look like they just pulled ramen noodles out of a bag. When we called about the noodles they told us to pour the sauce on it. Wtf. Also ordered sweet n sour chicken tasted like sh*t. This place sucks and looks like a crack house. So if you are looking to waste your money stop on by. read more

In search of Chinese places to eat I came across this one. It's pretty good but you can only order for to go, sadly. I hope they get it up and running soon with A/C cuz it's super hot in there and depending on the day the service is either really quick or you're waiting there for awhile. The orange chicken was good, and their house fried rice was amazing. Just needs some tlc read more

I stopped by yesterday because I was starving and craving Chinese. The dining room is currently closed, so I had to order it to go. I had the appetizer platter and it was really, really good. I was surprised by how good it was. The lady that was working in the front was also very pleasant to deal with. Can't speak on ambiance as the dining room was closed. read more

I saw this restaurant had pretty good reviews; so I had confidence in calling and ordering take out for six people in my office. Our order consisted of D19, L18, L22, L24, and two chicken lunch plates of some sort. When I arrived, I saw a worn sign on the front door that indicated no dine-in option since April. Not sure what year that was from. There are incredibly dirty plastic construction curtains hanging on both sides of the register blocking off the kitchen and dining area. This was red flag number 1. The service on the phone and in person was friendly. When I returned to my office with our food, we noticed the sauce in each container was the same color for every dish. Given that some of us ordered chicken and others ordered pork or steak, this should have been red flag number 2. Everyone took their order in our respective offices and reconvened about an hour later. One lady said her sesame chicken was edible but not enjoyable. Everyone else's lunch was reported as inedible. After a few bites, five of us threw our lunches away. The most edible item was the floppy egg roll; but even that was gray and rather gross on the inside. My staff discussed and agreed that anyone who left a positive review for Shangrila has incredibly poor standards for food or perhaps they were paid to leave such information. I set the bar pretty low when it comes to food for myself; but this was even below my standards. It's a shame. We were really hoping to find the best go-to Chinese restaurant. Sadly, this place is FAR from it. read more

So I was in the mood for some Chinese and it was late, I thought I'd try this place. I ordered the almond chicken, and egg drop soup, and sweet n sour chicken. The drive back to my house was about 15 minutes. Once I got home and sat down to enjoy my meal...... I opened my almond chicken.... And the first thing I see is a damn hair stuck to a piece of chicken. I was hungry and angry that I just wasted time and money on this trash. I called them to let them know and asked if I could get a refund since they were closing soon. They said the I my way I could get a Fkn refund was to bring the plate back for "proof". I was offended at the Fkn audacity! I clearly lost my appetite and did not want to eat the soup either. I also put that back in the bag and told them that I would bring it back to tomorrow since they didn't believe me. Once I took it back they said, they wanted to see the hair. I showed them and they said that they would only refund the almond chicken and not the egg drop soup. The egg drop soup had not even been touched because I lost my appetite. So if you want trash ass Chinese food with hair in it, (that you also have to show proof of) then by all means eat at this shit hole! read more

This is one of the delivery restaurants recommended by our hotel while we were staying in San Antonio. We were impressed with the menu selections, which has some items that are vegetarian and vegan. Since a lot of Chinese dishes have sauces that are not vegan, I was able to ask a lot of question while on the phone ordering and it was not a problem for them. The person on the phone even provided some suggestions on how to order specific dishes as "steamed" instead of with sauce, which is even healthier. Delivery driver was very helpful with meeting me with our delivery, once he arrived. We really enjoyed our food from here and would definitely order from them again if we come back to San Antonio. read more

I am with a patient at a nearby hospital, unable to leave, therefore a captive audience. Ordering delivery, have to hope that the min $15 order, & $3 fee is worth it. I usually like Lemon Chicken, but saw great reviews and photos of the Almond Chicken. The photos show a HUGE amount of whole almonds, so I decided I'd have the Almond Chicken. I also ordered shrimp toast, just to get my order over $15. The shrimp toast was almost burnt. I'm hungry so I decide no big deal. The Almond Chicken though, should've just been call Chicken. There were no whole almonds, just about a teaspoon of shaved almonds on the top. I didn't want just Chicken, I was in it for the almonds. Since I am working, can't really make personal calls, and can't leave there's not much I can do but eat my burned shrimp and chicken with 1 tsp or shaved almonds :( read more

5 stars for the food. They have great tasting quality food . The variety in recipes are AMAZING . You can tell the quality of their ingredients . If I had experienced something like others then I would probably give it less stars but for over 10 years we have been eating here we have never experienced it. They are always so BUSY and get your orders OUT QUICKLY maybe a hair or other things get in?? IDK , It's never happened to me . TG... My favs are chicken or shrimp chop suey, fried rice options, all GOOD. Lemon chicken & sweet and sour always crunchy if eaten right away . Since many of the options are fried , the grease/ oil never tastes reused or old like other places . This is the only Chinese restaurant that I am suspicious uses Korean rice because that's in my opinion, THE BEST rice. Never hard always perfect like Korean rice I hope this Little whole in the wall restaurant never closes read more

Nice that they were open on Christmas Day with a Christmas special. The service was nice and friendly... The food is ok I really did not like the white rice it was over cooked and wet, the fried rice looked the same way from what I saw on my parties plate. The lemon chicken is white meat which is great, it's not a bad place but I would not go back... try it for yourself it's worth a try for the first timer. read more

Their food is okay but not worth the attitude you get from the staff. One of which was the owners daughter. I'm in the service industry. Let customers check their account, and exercise just a little patience. If you order online and try to pay, they're quick to get defensive. I didn't mind paying, I just wanted to make sure it didn't post to my account already. And when I tried to talk things out about their attitude, they just defended their attitude. I even told them I liked their food last time that's why we came back, but it didn't soften them enough to listen. It's a shame because I usually like these off the beaten path restaurants. Good customer service requires friendly communication. They don't have it. read more
