So it wasn't busy at all, and we got seated quickly and our order was taken soon after. Our server was super nice. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp with fried rice and spring roll along with egg drop soup.I also got some hot tea especially on a cold day. My husband ordered sesame chicken with fried rice spring roll and wonton soup. Both were amazing and the best part was it was a lunch size instead of a dinner. We definitely enjoyed our meals and we were out before it started getting busy. This will be a spot to definitely go back to when we're on this side of town. read more

The wife and I were craving Chinese food so looked on Yelp near me and we narrowed the choices down 2. Delicious Garden was our choice and we were certainly glad. It wasn't very crowded at 1:30 pm so we were told to "sit where we liked" upon entering. The waitress was very prompt and polite. I believe she was the only waitress but it was a small place with about 6 of the 20 tables occupied. The lunch specialties is what I went for and I had the Szechuan combo. Very flavorful with lots of beef, chicken and shrimp. Wife had chicken and broccoli which she said was excellent! The entry comes with a soup and rice and your choice of egg roll or wonton which were both yummy. The decor was simple but fitting and the place was clean and tidy. No issues with refills or to go items as the guy behind the counter came out to assist the waitress when needed. Prices were typical for lunch nowadays and we paid and left for slightly under $30! That was absolutely the worst egg foo young I have ever had. I took a few bites and threw it away. Something tasted very off. As I have since read in another review about this place and agree - it tasted old and like fish, so I assume the oil was old and reused. We also ordered Kung Pao Beef, of which only a small amount was eaten and left overs were not saved. I got it as take out and did not want to drive back across town to return it. Absolutely my new favorite place! Let me give you the run down. My friends and I have all over trying to find good Chinese comfort food. All the other places have fallen short so, I didn't have high expectations going in. Color me impressed. Super clean dining area. Like, even the a/c vents were immaculate! None of that gross buildup on them at all. Same for the ceiling fans and chandelier!! IMMACULATE. Do you know how rare that is to find in 99% of the places in San Antonio??? It's impressive. Ok, we were seated and our server took our drink order (all tea because you know, we are still Texans lol) and handed us our menus. MASSIVE selection and good prices. A tiny bit higher than some but, 100% worth every dollar. Our server was super helpful and knowledgeable about all the dishes. My bestie saw, online, they had beef chow mein but, it wasn't on the menu. She was going to just order something else but, with a little nudging from us, ask the waitress. The waitress was like "oh ya, we have that!" Minor upset averted. I ordered the Orange Beef with a cream cheese rangoon, fried rice, and a cup of wonton soup. My other friend ordered the Sesame Beef, steamed rice, spring rolls, and a cup of egg-drop soup. Of course my bestie ordered the Beef Chow mein, steamed rice, egg roll, and egg drop soup. While waiting for our meal we checked out the facilities to wash our hands. These restrooms were just as immaculate as the dining area. Now you know that's a good sign. Shortly our soups arrived. I'll admit, I'm a wonton soup snob and haven't had an excellent wonton soup since I was a kid. My expectations were low. MIND BLOWN! This was the best freaking wonton soup ever! Flavorful. Fresh. Delicious. I seriously gave thought to just ordering a massive bowl of it and calling it a night. As all good friends do, we like to "sample" each others meals. The girls were raving about how wonderful their egg drop soup was. I hate egg drop soup. However, at their insistence, I tried it. O-M-G!! Delicious fresh rich flavor! If you are a texture eater like me, you will not be disappointed. I think I like egg drop soup now. At least THIS egg drop soup. We were all pleasant surprised, especially based on past experiences at other restaurants and were anxiously awaiting the main courses. Orange Beef - fantastic and not overly saucy. I would have like a little more orange flavor but, still the best orange beef I've had in San Antonio. You know how most times when you order orange chicken, beef, pork, shrimp or whatever, it comes smothered in a generic gelatinous pale yellow sauce? Well this was DEFINITELY not anywhere on my plate. The sauce was made in house and not some wholesale garbage you find at most places. The fried rice was a great addition to the flavor explosion dancing around in my mouth. Of course, I tasted the Beef Chow Mein. Again, great flavor and FRESH! The vegetables, even in the mild sauce still retained their crispy crunch. I can't emphasize enough how fresh everything tastes. I'm not a fan of 99% of the egg rolls in this world... but I sampled my bestie's egg roll, and now I apparently like egg rolls! Last, certainly not least, the Sesame Beef. No crazy breading covering up the beef.. just wonderfully tender beef with a savory sesame glaze and actually topped with a generous amount of sesame seeds. Again...FRESH is the word of the day for Delicious Garden. A small side of vibrant green broccoli adored the plate and my friend let me have it since she's not a broccoli muncher. Again, perfectly steamed, not too crisp, and not over cooked. Say it with me...FRESH! The portions were grand and we all ended up with full to-go boxes. If we had any room we would have ordered dessert. We were all so very happy with our experience and are making Delicious Garden part of the rotation. Especially the wonton soup!! I don't know how long this place has been here, but I am a little upset at myself for not trying it sooner. The crispiness of the fried dumplings , eggrolls, and spring roll was perfect. The shrimp toast is wonderful but the star so far was the crispy beef. Wow... I just found our new favorite! Four stars because the delivery is a hot mess. The restaurant didn't update the status so I had no clue if I was getting my delivery or not. Finally, once it was 10 minutes past the latest time given, I called. She said there weren't any delivery orders there so he must've just left with it. Again...wasn't sure if it was mine or not. Needless to say, I thought for sure the food wouldn't be great. But omg it was freaking amazing! I haven't had moo shu chicken since I lived in the Bay Area, like 20 years ago! It was freaking better than I remembered. The portion was large so I'm glad I ordered extra pancakes. The chicken was cooked perfectly and there were tons of vegetables like I love! The crispy beef was sooooo much better than the place we've been going to. Wow!!!! So. Damn. Good! The fried rice was super basic and cold but it was really just an afterthought. I also ordered my hubby the bbq pork ribs. I took a bite of one and they were really good even though I'm not a huge fan of pork. But he was loving it! We had a game night with friends and decided to check this place out. We ordered a ton of food (literally $100 worth) online for pickup. Everything was sooo good! We all enjoyed what we ordered. Crowd favorites were the walnut shrimp, happy family, egg drop soup, sesame balls, and the donuts. The portions were perfect too! What always makes me nervous to try a new Chinese place is that some times it gives me a migraine. Thankfully that didn't happen, so it is a win! We definitely will be ordering here again. read more

If you've been looking for a place that takes you back to the good ole days then this place is it!! Food was brought out fresh and very quick, within about 10 min after ordering. We got a little of everything to really see what this place had to offer, and it all hit the spot!! We ordered (not pictured) three different soups the won ton, egg drop, and the hot sour soup! They were all very delicious! The egg rolls were so good we couldn't stop ordering them! The orange chicken was lightly battered and fried great taste and texture! Same with the walnut shrimp very creamy crispy and pretty decent size shrimp! The chicken lo mien had a great classic flavor that most places don't have anymore!! The steamed rice was perfectly cooked and the fried rice was up to par. At the end of the day if you're debating whether to come in and try, this is your answer to stop holding out and come try this place!! Last thing place was very clean and the costumer service was great! I was just blown away why this place isn't packed with people daily?? Hadn't been here in a few years because of their business hours, they close at 2:30pm then reopen at 4:30pm so I was always missing my chance. Went tonight for dinner with the family and my experience was not what I hoped. We chose a booth and it was sticky everywhere so we moved to another table, same thing so I took a Clorox wipe and wiped it down myself, Asked for a high chair and it was sticky to the point where the Clorox wipe was ripping when I wiped it down. Even after a thorough wipe down it still had dried food stuck to it. Went to the bathroom and paper towel dispenser was broken so grabbed toilet paper to dry my hands. We ordered sesame and orange chicken with fried rice and egg rolls, a wonton and egg drop soup. The soups and egg rolls were good, I found a hair in my sesame chicken and told the waiter about it, he was kind enough to remove it from the bill as I didn't end up eating it, the sesame balls for dessert were great. I think the food is good (minus the hair) but the place needs some attention to cleanliness. read more

The food and prices are excellent. I had my old favorite Moo Goo Gai Pan super healthy. Think of it as Chinese hamburgers delicious but somewhat plain. The inside is super clean and the staff are really nice. Parking is plentiful. Plus they were playing Chinese music YES!!!!! read more

Typical lunch specials. I ordered the mongolian beef which comes with fried or steamed rice and an eggroll. The kung pao chicken was a less good, instead of spicy more sweet and bbq sauce like. I want to give this place a great review but I have been there recently on two occasions to order lunch. I work close to the restaurant. On my first order I got the general tso chicken lunch special and couldn't finish it just a weird taste. A coworker place an order a couple of days ago and the order was not complete...several things were missed like the egg rolls and the side rice was not what was ordered. This time I tried the sesame chicken and it was not great . With that I will never go back...we paid over $10 for a lunch special that was not worth the time..and the taste was not good. read more

Shocked that it has such high ratings. My stars are solely for the cleanliness of the restaurant. It's a shame that's the only reason I have to give stars considering your place SHOULD be clean no matter what, but I'm grasping at straws right now. We arrived at 8:20 pm to place a to-go order of General Tso chicken, pork fried rice, and Szechuan beef. It came out extremely fast- like ten minutes later- which could be good or bad. I checked the food before we left because I have trust issues. The fried rice was so pale, I thought it was steamed rice. When we sat down to eat, I couldn't choke down more than three pieces of the GEN Tso's chicken because of how dry it was! There were only two broccoli florets in the entire dish. Pretty annoying when broccoli is one of the ingredients in GEN Tso's. The flavoring wasn't bad, but it wasn't the best I've had, either. My husband's Szechuan beef was the best dish of the three, but in spite of having red peppers stir fried in it, it wasn't spicy in the least. My poor kiddos "pork fried rice" was white rice with some onion and pork bits. They ended up making themselves PB&J. Forty dollars worth of food was tossed into the bin. Maybe it was the time we went that made the difference, but that says a lot about an establishment. Great food shouldn't have a time limit and customers should get the food you charge them for.
