Meh. For all the hype, the LONG wait, and so on... it was just ok. Corned beef hash was wet and kinda slimy inside. (And for those of us who are all about texture... this wasn't so great.) The Denver omelette was VERY wet inside. The seafood omelette was really fish smelling. Being this close to fresh seafood-- that was disappointing. The kids' pancakes were PEEFECTLY done. Tasty too! The service was excellent. Truly good! So.... if this is the best in town, stuck to the pancakes. Since it's the pancake house, it's probably neat to stick with their specialty and veer off course. Definitely best service eating out! Big breakfast and excellent prices. Fresh hot coffee. The French toast sticks were delicious and all the food came hot. I hate a cold breakfast. If you come on a Sunday be prepared to wait a bit longer if you arrive after church is out. Other than that, I will definitely be back next time I'm in Longview, WA. read more

this is a solid neighborhood diner in Longview (if you can consider Tenant Way/ Oregon Way a neighborhood). i spotted this restaurant about a year ago peeking out between some buildings from Tenant, but Yelp's directions kept sending me to the now closed Frack Burger. this restaurant is busy. the front parking spots are always full but there's more parking behind the building. there is a good sized counter as well as tables and booths. the waitresses (yes, all female staff) are very friendly and quick to take the order. the clientele seems to be mostly local regulars with the occasional traveler like me stopping in. focus is on breakfast food but there is a decent selection on the lunch menu. today's lunch special on the chalkboard was grilled cheese sandwich with bean soup. i ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. it had a nice crispy crust served hot off out of the deep fryer. the hash browns were fresh and hot as were the eggs. it was a satisfying meal with friednly conversation with my counter mates and the ladies behind the counter. a definite stop in the future. read more

Great place to stop. My wife & I happened upon this place. It definitely a locals favorite. We came in at lunch time but everyone around us were having breakfast. I ordered a ham & cheese omelet & my wife the chicken fried steak. I'd attach a couple pictures of how our food came out. Both were excellent and service was fantastic. We will be back. read more

There is just something great about walking into your hometown breakfast place and feeling like coming home. I haven't been here in almost 5 years since I went to college but nothing has changed. Oh my goodness what can I say!!! While it is not a fancy place, it is a you are family place. My family has been coming to the pancake house since my son was 4 years old and he is now 20. When you come here you are family! The servers care for you as they do their own. We could call them by name just as the acknowledge us and everyone else by name too. My husband is ciliac, and they have Gluten free pancakes, my son Loves Their corn beef hash, and anything else they have. My favorite is their waffles with bacon in the batter... Oh my goodness soooo good! It is worth every dime and when you have to especially now it is worth every minute you might have to wait. read more

First of all, as greasy spoons go, this one is top notch. Really quaint and cute with friendly service. They have all kinds of pancakes: buttermilk, sourdough, buckwheat, sweet potato, dollar. I ordered the sourdough which were nice, thin and sour. I like my pancakes with a little crust and these were spongy. They are huge!!! The eggs were cooked perfectly but my husbands hashbrowns were a little limp. My daughter ordered A BLT which looked good but the fries were the frosen crinkly type. This a a place for big appetites. I could only eat one of my pancakes (in addition of one egg and I stole a bacon strip from my husband's plate which had four big strips) all in all, this is a cute place to stop by. read more

Maybe it's just because this is what I grew up on, but I believe the Pancake House serves the best breakfast anywhere. Period. This is the kind of blue collar joint with a breakfast counter and waitresses that call you "honey." If you're a local, they usually know your name or someone from your family. In the 80's, you could count on it being filled with loggers and mill workers. There are still plenty of folks like that, but the economy of the town has changed, so the crown is more varied. So what about the food? Umm... awesome. Duh. Usually I get eggs benedict or corned-beef hash (the only place I'll eat it). I also like denver omelets and they have some nice lingonberry and strawberry swedish pancakes. My parents usually order the "senior plate," which consists of 1 egg, 1 bacon, toast, and some hashbrowns. My grandpa used to always gets waffles, but this weekend we ordered "The Longshoreman." It's a french toast and bacon. Usually I think NO ONE makes better french toast than I do, but in this case, my ass was seriously handed to me. It had a really nice slightly crisp bite to it and was not too soggy or too dry. The bacon is perfectly crisp without being charred. As far as other stuff goes, it's never greasy or overcooked. Just right. So next time you're driving to the beach or Portland, come get some breakfast. read more
