Thanksgiving small family dinner

Thank you for making me feel normal on thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is full of gluten foods and it was so nice to not have to stress about cooking on my own gluten free or worry about cross contamination. Everything was super easy and my gluten boyfriend even liked it. Seriously the bomb

Food at Palmisano's is delicious! This is a seafood platter.

Met some friends out for dinner here, and we were really excited about finally trying this place…read morebased on the Yelp reviews and pics. It was better than we had expected. The establishment itself is located in a cozy little spot in downtown Covington. Tastefully decorated and full of natural light, The Gloriette is a charming, upscale little spot that boasts "a taste of European tradition, a touch of Louisiana soul." And they're not wrong. Our reservations were for 7pm and we were promptly seated upon arrival. Our drink and appetizer orders were taken by our server shortly after arriving. To start, the four of us decided to share the honey goat cheese spread and confit pork belly (of which, I somehow neglected to take pictures for some reason...). Both were spectacular. My Sazerac was perfectly made, and my wife really enjoyed her watermelon sugar cocktail, which she specifically noted as not being too sweet. I'm not big on presentation because I'm a pretty simple guy. But when our entrees arrived I couldn't wait to dig in. Everything looked absolutely delicious. My wife chose the braised beef short ribs, our friends chose the filet mignon and the blackened gulf fish, and I opted for the grilled red fish. I only had a small bite of my wife's short ribs but it melted in my mouth. And my grilled red fish paired with the basil pesto pearl pasta was phenomenal. The North Shore is loaded with great restaurants and The Gloriette falls right in line with the rest of them. Truly a great experience from beginning to end.

This pizzeria is one of the best I've had in a long time. As soon as you walk into the restaurant…read moreyou're greeted by the staff and escorted to your seats. The restaurant is decorated very nice, some modern touches but gives warehouse vibes with a cute grass wall for photos. The menu has a variety of pizzas, calzones, sandwiches, pastas and wines. I didn't realize what was getting myself into when I ordered the loaded fries as an appetizer the food does take time but it is extremely worth it! The fries came out fresh and hot with a bunch of bacon jalapeños and cheese. The owner was so kind he sent us mozzarella sticks and marinara on the house. For our entrees we ordered a large pepperoni pizza, cheese pizza, veggie pizza and chicken Alfredo pasta. Each pizza was so delicious, the sauce was clearly made fresh, the dough was fluffy but crispy it was a great combination. The chicken Alfredo pasta sauce was made fresh along with the pasta sauce. Nothing tasted as if it came from a jar everything was made fresh to order. We all left so full and happy after dinner. Our servers Aubrey and Haley were amazing and gave great recommendations and honest opinions about the menu. I'm excited to try new things on my next trip.

We started with the loaded fries, eggplant sticks and trio dip. Do not pass up the eggplant dip! Absolutely delicious. We tried a variety of pizzas including supreme, four cheese, Philly steak and prosciutto pizzas. All of them were delicious but my favorite was the prosciutto pizza. The crust was crispy and the pizza heated up very well the next day. Prices are reasonable. With the apps, pizza, beer, bottle of wine and the gratuity included (parties of 5 or more gratuity included) we spent $250. Our waitress was Aubrey and she was fantastic. We will definitely be back!

Keith provided wonderful service all night. He was friendly and came by at the right times to check on us. The bussers were great at clearing our dishes and refilling our water. The food was fantastic and they offer many gluten free items or can be prepared gluten free if asked. Everything from the Oysters Pablo to the Foie Gras to the Fish Almondine and Steak was delicious. My son loved his Truffle Soft Shell Crab Pasta that he split with Grandma. The medium rare steak was cooked to perfection. All the sides were also so yummy. We started the evening with cocktails, appetizers, wine with the entrees, then more cocktails with dessert. The Creme Brulee with Berries was delicious. Others really liked the Bread Pudding. The Old Fashions, Dirty Martinis, Espresso Martinis, and wine were all great. They offer a great selection of wine by the bottle. My family who lives in town enjoy going to Gallagher's for celebrations and when we come into town, we try to squeeze in dinner here.

The steak was a perfectly cooked medium rare, charred, and the salt content was perfect with an awesome tasty slight crunch. We had a side of tasty broccoli to accompany the meal. It was so good, no broccoli spear was left behind. Normally, we don't eat bread (oh too good) but felt I had to, in order to fill up and not get weak for the blood donation. My husband had the burger. We forgot to ask for cheese, but it was also perfectly cooked. We ate at the bar and had the privilege of seeing Pat G sitting there as well. They had a pretty busy but quiet lunch crowd.

The food is decent but the service could be a lot better in many areas. For those with food…read moreallergies, please triple check before ordering in or eating your food. We arrived on a Friday night without reservations and waited about 30-40 minutes for a table. First, we got a drink by the bar and stood around. Then when seats opened up at the bar, we sat there and ordered two appetizers. Before ordering, I asked one of the bartenders if something was gluten free and she came back with a sheet of paper labeled GLUTEN listing about 25-30 things that were gluten free such as dressings, jambalaya, and egg rolls (which we found out later they are NOT gluten free). I have a picture but I won't share it so that no one is deceived. A few minutes after ordering, we were buzzed that we had moved up the waiting list and to check in. My husband checked in and came to tell me to go to the hostess stand because they are ready to seat us. He went to let the bartender know to send our two appetizers to our table. When I got to the hostess stand, the hostess said that we already had been seated and to just walk upstairs. Even after I explained we had not gotten seated yet because my husband had just checked in, she instructed my party to simply head upstairs and just turn right. We walked upstairs and found a table we assumed we should sit ate. Then when my husband arrived, he went to look for menus because we didn't have any. Ava came by to greet us as our two appetizers of Sauteed Crab Claws and Boudin Egg Rolls arrived. Ava was really friendly and personable. I was so happy the sheet had indicated they are gluten free. I ate half an egg roll and started to suspect it was not gluten free. I flagged down Ava and asked and she said she was pretty sure they were not gluten free. Ava came back to apologize that the egg rolls had been changed and were no longer gluten free, and then are gave me an updated "2026 Gluten-Free Allergy Menu" with a subheader "All items listed are SAFE for you to eat." The egg rolls were no longer listed. For my entree, I ordered the Charbroiled Catfish served over spinach. It came with a salad and apparently a side. I thought my spinach was the side so I didn't ask about my side options and Ava didn't ask me what I wanted as a side. I had a side mixed green salad with no croutons. Surprisingly, everyone's side mixed green salad looked different when they arrived. Mine had croutons. Another had cheese on their mixed greens while another person was served iceberg lettuce. It was very strange. My catfish arrived with French Fries which are not gluten free. I flagged down another waitress who had checked in on us earlier to explain that I wasn't offered a side and that I couldn't eat the French Fries. I asked for cooked veggies and she brought me cauliflower. I thoroughly enjoyed my catfish and cauliflower. Others are the table had the Seafood Lasagna, Seafood Pasta, Charbroiled Oysters, and Crawfish Etouffee. Everyone liked their dishes. The portions are really big. The meal would've been much better if they were better trained on how to handle food allergies. And what the hostess did was not customer friendly at all. We learned from the second server that Ava was in training. Ava did a good job as she was really friendly, attentive, and seemed to genuinely care. I don't think she understood what a gluten allergy was but she followed up when asked to check on the egg rolls.

Even if you're not hungry, you should come get a beer and walk down to the little river; Louisiana can be magical with the right attitude.
