Joe was recommended to us by our landscaper, previously a landscaper at Stanford University. We wanted Joe to eradicate a ground-wasps nest discovered by our landscaper's staff. Joe was super-knowledgeable, pleasant, and fairly-priced. He capably removed the ground nest. We've since engage Joe to spray for spiders that invade our home each spring. Our house and yard were under siege by an army of Argentine ants. I called Palmieri and they explained what it would take to eradicate them. They noted that these kinds of ants are challenging because they build many nests and have multiple queens - each laying about 60 eggs a day. Their colonies can average about 150,000 ants! Sergio came out and was very thorough, friendly, and helpful in answering my questions. He recommended spraying our property inside and out and underneath the house. We didn't want spray inside the house. So we opted for just the outdoors and below the house. Sergio pointed out that without some approach to tackling the problem from within the house, the ants might persist. He was right. After Palmieri left, there were no more signs of ants outside our house, but we found hundreds of them crawling in our bathroom. We chose to use Terro ant baits inside the house as an alternative to having pesticides sprayed indoors. After about a month, the baits eliminated the ants. read more

I have used this company a few times over the last six years and will use it again when the need arises. Joe is very knowledgable about how pests get into houses and how to trap them. When I first moved into my house he was the guy who told me that I need to cut back the trees that were giving the rats access to my roof (and then my house). I walked with him around the house and he pointed out a number of ways that they were getting into the house and what I can do to stop them. He also left a few traps and gave me advice on what to use. I have put his knowledge to use a number of times over the years that I have been in my house. It was money very well spent. read more

I called to ask if they could spray for spiders and they schooled me on how spraying inside is messy and not effective in killing spiders. They informed me on how to control for them on my own. I called Palmieri Pest Control because I found a rat in my kitchen. The rep, Pat, came out that week and set up some traps and scheduled follow up visits to make sure things were o.k. Pat gave us lots of advice and was very nice. After a few visits, the problem was solved and they charged me a little less since I didn't need a follow up visit the next week. Overall I found their pricing reasonable. I appreciated that Pat didn't snicker or make any rude comments when I asked him not to kill any squirrels, bugs or other creatures unless he had to. He was respectful of my requests to only prevent pest and not harm animals and insects unless necessary. I will use them again in the future if I need pest control. read more

My review is based on phone interaction with Joe....giving 4 stars based on great phone customer support, but as a result of his great support and counsel, won't require his service in the near-term (though am confident that actually being a customer would have earned him 5 stars). Called Palmieri about a spider problem in my new home and he was very honest and direct about the best action to take...what would realistically work and what would be a waste of time/money. His counsel echoed what my own research had shown (spider extermination is hard work as they don't respond to sprays like other insects) and there are no shortcuts to solving the issue. He was transparent about when he'd be able to do the (outside of the home) work that would be required and about the steps we need to take inside the home to try and manage the pests. Wasn't able to hire Palmieri based on availability, but would hire them in the future for any pest needs....which is a very likely reality given that all forms of critters in California seems to want to be inside the house. read more

I have a huge rat/mice problem at my house. When I say huge, I also mean it quite literally. I had no idea how they were getting in but they were definitely between my walls, squeaking, thudding, scratching, and gnawing at the wood every so often. Finally, I had the last straw when one of them died and it stunk up a closet in the house but we couldn't find the body since it was between the walls. The smell eventually went away but the problem didn't. The bf was the one who called in for me since I was away at the time, and he told me that he really liked how they were professional and gave advice prior to coming in to make sure you've exhausted all of your options before they have to check. He said it was around a 30 minute phone call. They try to save you money! Who does that? Apparently Palmieri does. They're very honest and wouldn't try to upsell you or try to get you to commit to a monthly contract like Terminix does. More into this later. Patrick arrived at my house promptly, and I knew this because I had heard some thudding in my backyard porch. I was a little confused because I thought that he would have knocked or rung the doorbell first, but I later found out that he had inspected around my house first to see all the possible entries for the rats and where the problem was. Absolute professionalism. When he was at my doorstep he introduced himself amiably, "Hi, I'm Patrick the rat killer." Super friendly guy. He was already spelling out my problems for me from A-Z, where they were coming from and where the main problem was. I didn't even know that a door on the side of my house had tilted to the side since the hinge was broken, and literally anything/anyone could get in. I suppose this is what I get for never really exploring my foresty backyard.. We went out to the back and I asked if the problem was in one of the storage rooms under the house. The door was closed, and I asked if I should open it. He was hesitant but told me to open it anyways to see for myself what the damage was like. I opened it and it was Sweet-Baby-Jesus-Help-Us-All. Rat poop literally carpeted the whole floor and Patrick explained that they were Norway rats, the ones that could grow as big as a dog. They must have multiplied when we didn't know about it. Well, aren't I in luck. He then showed me a huge hole on the wooden wall where they must have burrowed through and walked in a blackened path that he explained was a mixture of oils and urine. Patrick gave me the whole low-down on rats--he's clearly very knowledgeable about them and their behavior. Then he showed me where the main problem was--the broken door that all kinds of animals could be climbing into. After explaining the process of what needs to be done, he got to work and set up the traps, then checked my garage and set up traps in there too. Finally he referred me to a proofer to rat-proof and clean up my house, and I am just thankful that these problems will be over soon. He's going to make a total of 4 visits to kill the rats, and after proofing the house I shouldn't have this problem again. My mom, ever so worried about everything, texted me to ask for a monthly service to check up on the house for other possible problems like spiders and ants. When I asked about this to Patrick he explained that once the house has been proofed it's very unlikely that the rats/mice would return, but an ant problem might be a possibility, other than that it's not absolutely necessary, as Terminix would try to tell you otherwise. He told my mom to call in later and discuss the possibilities but he made it clear that if there's no problem, there's really nothing else to be done (aka. no unnecessary spending!) I think their pricing is very reasonable, $345 for 4 visits for my rat problem but this doesn't include the proofing/cleaning. That will be a separate thing. However, I am very pleased with their service, professionalism, knowledge, and friendliness. Patrick was singing and whistling as he set up the traps! What a guy. If you have a rat problem, call on Palmieri. Patrick is definitely a specialist. read more

I just completed a four week "rat control" service from Palmieri Pest Control. We had noticed fresh signs of rats in our crawl space this winter, and I made a first attempt at setting a couple of traps in the obvious areas and looking for signs of entry/exit under the house with no luck. We have dogs, so poison was never an option. I gave Palmieri Pest a call based on Yelp reviews from our area. I spoke with Joe Palmieri on the first try. Joe listened to the problem, offered some suggestions on proper bait for rats, explained in detail the service they could provide (and cost), and scheduled his service operator (Patrick) to come out a few days later. Patrick arrived at our house on time, did a thorough inspection of the property, spotted the likely opening (and advised how and when to repair it), set 10+ traps in the crawlspace, and scheduled his next follow up visit. Kudos to Joe and especially to Patrick. All appointments were easy to make and on time, I learned something about rodent control, the rats are gone, the process was as painless (for me) as possible. read more

Joe is a really classy guy. I called due to a hole in my ceiling which appeared one night before bed and bees started coming out. FREAKY!!! So I was able to gather myself together and I placed duct tape over the small hole and me and the wife went to spend the night elsewhere in case it didn't hold. The next morning Terminex didn't even return my call so I called Palmieri. Explained the situation to Joe and he said it sounded like Yellowjackets and I was lucky I didn't get stung a whole lot as they are very agressive. He told me this was a high priority urgent matter that could not wait. But he was booked for the next 1.5 days, so he referred my to South Bay Pest Control who fixed my problem ASAP! The other day I sent him a text telling him I was having an ant problem, he texted back that I should call the office to set up an appointment for him to come out. It was later in the day so I figured I would call in the morning. Before I could call the office, Joe Palmieri was calling me to make sure things were taken care of...Rudy was out the next day rescuing me from the ants. We called Joe Palmieri about noises in our attic. Like other Yelpers, he talked on the phone for half an hour, trying to find out if we really needed someone to come out! We initially were hoping it was squirrels, but he told us it was rats (squirrels aren't nocturnal). We set a date, and a few days later Joe and Patrick came to our place. 4 visits @ $345 was the quote they gave us, and after all 4 visits we've had no rat problems ever since. We did get ditched once (I think it was our 3rd visit - hence the -1 star), and when I called Joe he was very apologetic. They gave us a discount and a gift card the week after when they came. Overall, we're very pleased with their service, and we're happy we went with Palmieri for our rodent problems! read more

He arrived early, explained what he planned on doing and why, and then proceeded to efficiently complete the work. In addition to our bug problem, I mentioned to him that we had a few rats in the basement. He took some traps out of the truck, showed me how to bait them with walnuts and gave a batch for no charge!! He also gave me a recommendation for a termite problem we're having in our garage. We had a bit of an ant problem in our Redwood City home. Everyday we would have the "ant highway" through our kitchen even though we kept it immaculate. We would also get random ants scouting the rest of the home. In addition my yard seemed overrun with small black spiders. Neither of these pests are harmful, just a nuisance. We tried to combat them ourselves using home remedies and popular products like terro but it would only temporarily solve the problem and they would always be back 1-2 days later. It was depressing, it made us unhappy in our own home and felt like we were living in some slum. I discovered a large ant colony in my back yard and got fed up and turned to Yelp where I found Palmieri. I called them up and talked to the owner, very friendly and professional. He gave me quite the education on ants and their habits. This guy knows his stuff. We booked the first available appointment, for which they arrived on time as promised. We toured the house, I pointed out the problem areas and he explained how and where ants penetrate the home, seek out food, hibernate in walls etc. They then proceeded to spray the entire property as well as the basement and crawl space. We did not require any indoor spraying. Palmieri also suggested many ways I can cheaply protect my home on my own, patching holes and vents to prevent other pests like rats from getting in (I once had a rat in the basement/ attic) He explained the nature of the pests and the ways to defend against them. Of course all of this education and advice came free of charge. His guy even set out rat traps and bait to ensure that the one rat I did have and kill was really the only one. They set these traps free of charge although it is not their normal policy to do so. That's the level of service you get from these guys! Long story short, this was months ago and I have yet to see an ant ANYWHERE near my property. I can't tell you what a relief it has been, I should have called immediately. I won't make that mistake again, I signed a service agreement with Palmieri so they can perform semi-annual maintenance which will keep my home pest free. These guys are professional, friendly, knowledgeable, courteous and reliable. DO not call the franchise mega places who turn over unskilled employees constantly, call a true local professional who knows their craft. read more

These folks are amazing! We were at our wits end last year trying to get rid of ants when we randomly found them on Yelp. They are clearly just good people. I know squat about getting rid of ants and then could have told me that I needed like titanium plated ant traps and gold ant spray and I wouldn't have really know any better, but they didn't. They offered sound advise and now spray around our house quarterly. And they're so friendly and jovial every time they come over! Patrick cracks me up! And the ant problem, GONE! If you want your problem taken care of quickly and efficiently without a lot of mumbo jumbo and whatnot, then these are your people to call. We have been using Palmieri Pest Control for about 6 years as a preventative service ..... and they have been wonderful. We have been working with Rudy (amazing!) for this time and whenever we have a question or need and extra spray the office has always responded right away and the problem solved. I was in the midst of some remodel work, and when they pulled down the ceiling they discovered some wasps nests in the attic. I called on a saturday to Palmieri, and Joe actually called back in 30 or so minutes. He talked me thru exactly what I was seeing, said they were paper wasps, recommended I go to homedepot to buy the wasp spray and it would take me 5 minutes to do myself. He also walked me thru how to find out of I have rodents in the house by putting out some shelled walnuts in the crawlspace and attic, and seeing if they disappear after 3 days. Total class act, spent 15 minutes on the phone with me and gave me free advice. He sounded incredibly knowledgeable and I'll definitely use him if I ever have a real problem. read more

I booked Palmieri after being stood up by Terminix twice. How that company stays in business I really do not know. Anyhow, we've had ants the whole summer. In the past terro traps worked, but this summer the ants were nonstop. I also tried going to doyourownpestcontrol.com, and those products couldn't stop the ants. I left a message, and Joe called me the next morning at 8. He was able to get someone out 2 days later, and unlike the other pest control companies I talked to, Palmieri sprays around the house, beneath the house, and inside the house (the baseboards). It's only been day one, so this review is so far for the service and the honesty that this company exhibits. The serviceman came at 7:25, 5 minutes early for a 7:30 appointment. And for just that, given the Terminex experience, I'm happy. I also called yesterday to see if they could bring the spray for spiders. I explained that we get about 2-3 spiders a month, and they told me it would be a waste to spray. So they talked themselves out of business, which I appreciate. It's been 24 hours and so far, no ants. The cost of the spray was a one-time fee of $275 (they offer monthly), but I'm going to see if there are no ants. If the ants disappear, I'm going to call Palmieri in the spring to respray before ants come in the summer. read more

This guy was awesome. Our indoor cats had managed to get fleas -- we tried to treat it ourselves but it had already gotten out of hand ( horrible infestation -- zillions of them -- really gross). We called Palmieri on Thurs -- they came out Saturday am, treated the whole house & yard. Solved the problem. Also he charged us less than the estimate he gave us over the phone -- said our yard & house were smaller than anticipated. So it was cheaper than we expected too. Two big thumbs up. read more
